Let’s address the real problem here! The real problem is there’s only 1 NBA game and it’s split into 2! That’s the real issue. 2k should have just left the game alone when it launched, 2k’s problem is they continue to patch and nerf the game when Mike Wang quote on quote said he wasn’t going to make changes to the game at all. They need to be more transparent with the consumer and that’s the problem.

I played rec last night and matched up witha team and No lie i played 4 quarters and they didn't pass me the ball one time... I actually stayed because i was actually shocked. I grabbed rebounds made like 4 unselfish assists got a few pluck steals kept 15+ pts per game player to about 7 or 8 pts .. as SF a played the wing and watched two dudes with the rodman hair a PG and a center literal play 4 man ball the entire game with the pick and roll alley oops..or the pG would shoot threes and NGL the PG was very good. He could shoot of the dribble as a 6'9 , Pass all that. But as the time melted away i came to realization that i realpy don't like the people who play this game even in a blow our game i had zero fun and just to make matters worse over time in frustration i kinda lagged on defense i mean who wants to keep running back and forth the whole game doing virtual Cardio..the guard must of felt some slither on humanity for a second and started to exclusively give me the ball and i scored 10 pts with the remaining 2 mins left in the game on 100% shooting ..im a level 29 with a Gold badge meaning i win a decent amount of games playing solo and despite the win i didn't run with them again even though it would probably been an easy win but i refused. The whole game i kept thinking to myself "what did I do to these dudes to literally ice me out from tip off ?". Like why treat another person like that who did nothing wrong and still played to be a good teammate despite this instead of standing out of bounds and throwing the game i turner into a defensive role player because that's who I am.. i really don't understand why this community loves to do that. I like to win but i ASLO want to actually enjoy the time i choose to spend on the game and not be somebody else's facilitator for THEIR goat status or level 40 dreams . I'm done .
Tbh I don’t see the issue I’ve been in your shoes it ain’t the funnest at all however if we winning imma just let them shine. I’ve seen dude sell 20 point leads thinking only about they wasn’t scoring then drop 20 and lose at times just gotta play a role
The points requirement to hit legend is the main issue with rec play. I’ve been in that situation before and although I could’ve stuck with the team to keep winning it’s not fun just playing defense and being frozen out on offense. At one point the other team just stopped guarding me because they knew I wasn’t getting the ball.

This is also one of the main reasons I stopped playing. Built a 7’0 interior force and was only good for rebounds DIDNT get not one offensive take. I stopped defending after that I no longer even cared about the game we still won😂
The community is a big problem to many toxic weirdos on 2k. on 2k16 the community was way different there was trash talk but it was different and hardly anyone threw the games. The community is just full of goofy ppl
Dosnt matter when the mechanical aspects of the game is none... defensive IQ is not rewarded. To many wonky animations and silly other things that completely ruin the experience
It's so limited when you finally make a build that it gets boring AF in a short amount of time. I started in 2k5 but I remember 2k13-2k16 I felt like it was going in a good direction at that point I usually play point guard. Back then the only thing a build would lack would be rebounding as a point guard if I made em. But after some time it'd become more and more frustrating that you be lacking in several categories.

I've been playing 2K since the dreamcast, playing online with dial up talking trash with a keyboard. I 100% feel this is the best 2K, it's definitely one of the hardest to master mainly due to all the updates but none the less the learning curve was necessary. Ya have to understand that this is a new version of 2K and its going to be a learning curve not just for the players but also the developers. If you keep releasing the same exact game everytime there's almost no reason to pick up a new 2K. I understand this is a new mechanic and understand it takes time to get it right. But ultimately I feel 2K23 is a great game that's trying to find its way.

I’ve been playing 2k on Dreamcast just like you. This 2K ain’t it. It had potential to be Top 2 but now it’s neck and neck with 2k18 as worst 2k of all time. I've been playing since Dreamcast as well and I don't think this is the best 2k ever but it's far from the worst and I hit 40 every season and have fun every night and I usually run with randoms
Day 1 it was amazing to me. Now you don't know what you going to get game to game. Never mind you, do it's not going to be even close to last game. One game I'm 4 for 6 from 3. Next I can't hit a single shot. It's not just me. My buddy who is way better then me and shots 65 to 70% from 3 is having same problem.

Got this game on switch couple months ago. Played myleague a lot. Simmed to feb. LJ 12 points from Kareem record. Played w Lakers. 0 mention of record breaking moment when it happened, at half, or after game. Now I'm getting rid of game for the show 23. Whole reason I got game was to see how they handled record breaking moment & they don't. Richard Jefferson mentions chasing record early n season, but that's it. LJ passes Kareem on records list, while n game oblivious to the fact.
thank you for this SO MUCH!!!!! I have tried to get into NBA2K since 2K17 but the game play always seemed too difficult for me. Since my recovery, I have noticed my hand-eye coordination just isn't what it used to be when I was more into gaming. but since 2K17 I have not AT ALL enjoyed the game until 2K23.....But I have noticed such huge inconsistencies in shooting accuracy with most players and I thought it was just cause I sucked. Why is the shot meter going so much faster only a few feet closer to the basket? or.....why did the shot go in last time and all the same factors were present....if my Dark Matter Isaiah Thomas shoots a long jumper from the EXACT same location shouldn't the shot meter work the same way? anyway, watching this made me realize that my suspicions were correct......I might suck with my handeye coordination but 2K sucks too insofar as how inconsistent gameplay seems to be
As an old head or whatever you want to call me, I started with NBA Live and of course things were simple then. Started with 2k I believe it was 2k15...can't really remember. But been here for a min...I seen a lot of good and more bad... personally, I don't know what it takes to make a game, but I feel like they don't listen to us, or the respected Content Creators like yourself City, but things need to get better, sooner than later. I agree. The game was best when it first came out. The only complaint I had was the spamming of the steal button (which takes no skill or IQ btw) and getting rewarded for it. Other than that the game was perfect. You actually had to know how to play the game of basketball to be successful.
I'd consider myself an OG 2k player, i was playing NBA 2k, the first one on dreamcast as a kid. At the beginning of the year '23 was one of the best released there was a gap instilled into the game. From shooting being more difficult, to defense being more balanced compared to offense. But then comes the PGs complaining they're getting plucked too much by HOF glove when they only had Gold Unpluckable on their player. Then comes the complaints about shooting when the community asked for a gap because shooting was too easy on '22. So the game gets dumbed down and forces the community to pay more money and make new builds because of what some streamers, mainly PGs were complaining about. Yes there are cosmetic issues like the 3 second rule absence, catch animations, etc. Even the red contests going in isn't a bad thing if it's a Green Release, it doesn't happen often at all to be real and when it does the shooter had a perfect release so what's the issue with that. It sucks that park is dead now but the theater gets you constant games and variety so there's a good trade off. The game is more balanced and could be better cosmetically but from the complaints the game changed. Now 6'7 lockdowns are nerfed, now wide open slightly release aren't going in when people basically asked 2k to take out Sniper. Too much complaining. The game is too expensive to level up quickly but that's the grind and love of basketball to get on and grind players to get them to a 99 overall. But most of the complaints are influenced by creators when it could easily be diffused and find new ways to beat the system. Interested to get your take on this but I'm coming from an unbiased view, I don't get paid for playing the game nor would I quit my job to work at 2k sports but the game isn't bad at all.
I completely agree with you on this. The Release game was awesome because defence was balanced. The game now is completely different to the Release game. I have played since 2k11 and i consider my self as a 2k veteran, this game is good, but they cater to the creators of the game more than balance for all.
I played 15,16,17,19,20 MyPark and by far this year was the worst experience I've ever had with the Neighbourhood concept. The City is laggy and hollow, people are just sitting around or doing sidequests for 300 vc. You go to play games and you run into the same lineups, finding maybe one player under 6'9 in 10 games (which takes hours long to get through). We should both know there's been meta's in the game's history but not to this level. The arcade aspects are gone leaving a slow moving quick first step mess of a dribbling system, discouraging any creativity for the creative ball handler, and suggesting one version of basketball we don't look for in a video game. The only playable modes are pro-am and theater. I didn't play 2k22 but I can't imagine it being worse than what this is now. No variety, empty, soulless "video game" that people still buy every year because they want to play virtual basketball and have fun. If what you say is true, the game would be better. But that part is just my opinion (the other stuff is just objectively true). I am on the side for a video game where any build can be affective and win in any fashion as long as the basketball is played fair. If they continue on this path I don't see much value in buying the game every year, maybe buying it once the current purchased 2k runs out of time (the worst thing about these games).
I started playing when it first came out in the early 2000’s I think it was 2002 if I’m not mistaken. What I hate about 2k more than anything is shooting during career vs the rec is completely different
I'm just frustrated because PC is still NOT considered Next Gen. This is my first year on PC, having only been able to be on Android on 2k20. I'm also frustrated about the animation and ratings cap. That's even when I only play offline and just lab on BlackTop and 2KU.

I think people blame creators for promoting these glitch/meta builds and then turn around and say every got the same build or you’re trash if you have a 6’9
I’ve been playing 2k since P2 when park came wit park in 2k15 it was cool by far 16-17 was the best the only 2k that was close and to me more balanced out was 2k20 I feel like if they up the speed then it would be good
The true enemy will *forever* be Take Two Interactive. But, if I’m being completely honest, the creators are the reason the entire playerbase has the same badge loadouts, the same animations & even the same green release visuals/sound effects. But at the same time, you can also chalk that up to 2K’s lack of transparency with what each badge/animation benefits or negates.
There aren’t many people who enjoy gaming making the games now. It’s more incentive based than anything. They shoot for their record breaking numbers at launch and after a couple weeks devs disappear. Which is why the game is always on sale around March. They are not taking any initiative to listen to the community that actually plays. The nextmakers don’t make it any better either.
In my opinion i feel the fluidity was better on ps3 and regular xbox , fast breaks now i feel when you get the ball its like your player freeze's for a sec instead of a fluid motion , i wish 2k had the fluidity of fifa
I'm at the point where I believe there are daily patches that buff/nerf certain aspects of the game. I'm a myteam player and it seems like certain cards are only good for a few days after you get them. I swear, I play sooo many games that it's noticeable. I had to play 35 games to get Pistol Pete and proceeded to green 60 plus shots straight on superstar! Currently he can't hoop at all! I have no clue what happened. I believe it's not us at all. It's something the devs are playing with
Yeah this wouldn’t surprise me. Fifa is the same exact way - makes sense they would use similar tactics. Same with their “dynamic difficulty adjustment”. 2k has it just like fifa which is why “tempo” exists in a video game where it really technically shouldn’t affect attributes.
I notice this especially in the rec some games dunks are unlockable the next game you can't make nothing same with shooting I went one game 9-10 the next 3-9
I also believe there are daily adjustments made to the game. Not sure why but sometimes you can shoot lights out sometimes u cant. Sometimes u can drive on 3 people and other times u can't even dunk on one person.
Only reason why 12 was trash cuz they had no online modes for myplayer mode every thing else was goated just that one feature they took out from previous year in 2k11 is what 12 Dry lol
I feel like everytime I get on 2k it’s like a different game, one day I get on the game I don’t get bobble catch animations, next day almost every catch n shoot I get is a bobble catch, somometimes I feel like 2k be changing the sliders like one team is playing on hof sliders while the other team is Playing on rookie, like ball handlers be having the ball no clip thorough defenders, full court passes getting caught while people moon walk by the sideline and don’t go out of bounds , etc, I feel like the game was good when it came out, when they patched rim running the game was good, it became bad when they made the game more noob friendly by allowing higher frequencies of rim runs/ blow bus,and poster dunks especially with multiple defenders contesting,
Also… Learn the “3 second rule”.. it is more than just standing in the paint for 3 seconds… theres variables that actually start the 3 second violation…
2k23, is a great game IMO. My problem is not with the game. It's the players that play the game. I only complain about the game when I'm playing Rec. Every other mode besides that myteam BS is cool with me. I don't care about the microtransactions because we ask for a lot then act like it's not supposed to cost. I'm still learning new things on the game. I'm looking forward to 2k24.

I play this game a ton- my biggest issue is small guards can dribble with impunity - everything else is tolerable. I don’t care about uneven timing because shooting %s are too high anyway. I can get into the weeds on other things but EVERY YEAR you can do that. I can make a list of smaller nuisances. Gameplay wise, punish excessive dribblers, punish toxic rec players (standing out of bounds, just moving enough to not get kicked, not passing) - and I’m fine with the game because I’m playing basketball, I’m not playing to dribble around forever and do goofy ish. Give me body ups when I play good defense and punish the Off player when they get beat and reward contests- I’ll live with the rest. Game is unplayable when you don’t have that
This game was way better day 1, I think. We all knew what we were getting and made builds to adjust. Now you don't know one minute to the next. There is always going to be something someone doesn't like, and it will never ever be perfect. But if its running smoothly, leave it alone even if something is overpowered. We can adjust to that. There is always ways to compensate for something overpowered. The sad part is I have finally made a build that is my favorite build by far. So much so I made it on both current and nxt gen. It's still hard to enjoy this game.

They only gripe I truly have is different shots everytime I shoot the fucking ball. That shit sucks. Everything else is fire, but the perimeter d is lowkey hit and miss as well
This year killed it for casuals. Being 70 or 99 makes no difference in shooting ability, and that’s not how it should be. 70 you should be missing even if you green from time to time. You don’t want this game to just be sweats, you want the biggest player base possible.
If they listened to the content creators the game would suck. Shakedown is the closest to the 2K devs from what I've seen and he has had some horrible ideas over the years, I'm glad they haven't done some of the stuff he wants. The game has moved forward and gotten better in some aspects, but in others it has gotten worse. Like this year is the worst 2K ever when it comes to actual control of your player. You get forced into too many animations, the game will take control of your player.... it makes you stick to the ground when trying to block or rebound, it slows you down when dribbling up the sideline on a fast break, pass to an open man and the game drags him behind a defender for a turnover, catch a pass after you stopped moving and 2K puts you in an animation where you walk off the court...etc. We don't have as much control of our players as we used to. I bought the game to play it, not watch it.

I’ve been rocking since 2k11 but When you been on top so long with no one competing you start to get complacent for example Mike Tyson Got bored and lost that fighting spirit what happened he got beat by a nobody basically. 2k have had no one to keep them on their toes so now they are doing experiments with their games instead of making solid games like 16 or 17 it’s sad
So I recently got this game & I know you have to upgrade your player & get badges but I only have 3 badges anyway I can never make any shots in my career & I haven’t tried playing against real players bc I know I’ll get rekt I just wish I could shoot better
Been playing 2K for a few years now and I have the least amount of fun on 23 , shooting is too inconsistent, I play with my friends and he’s a 7’0 and he struggles with paint shots too. In 22 I would knock down 3s consistently and shoot with the best of em but in 23 there’s no consistency I’ve changed my shots multiple times and have even debated just making a defensive passing build with no offense because of how inconsistent it is
I’m 2k Og, been playing since Iverson was on NBA 2K on DreamCast!!!! 2K hasn’t been fun for awhile, the 2k I enjoyed the most was 2k14&15…. The Rec was actually fun back then, idk what tf 2k up to now 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
My biggest complaint about this game is it rewards computer defense and playing off ball. The old 2ks always rewarded doing everything manually whether it be rebounding defending etc. they keeping rewarding little boy defense every year and they wonder why they ain’t making the same bread
There’s no competition for them. I got back into playing 2k on 2k14 been playing every year since. My buddy been playing with me since then. This game just feel like a chore to play for me right now
Getting beat up while going for a dunk and no foul.. Getting someone with a pump fake they jump and land on you and its a block smh... The delay is horrible dribble moves and the animations respond after the fact which most of the time result in turnover
2k should cut out all the fluff and just focus on game play. I hate how players execute dribbling moves like 2 seconds after you call for the move. You simply no longer fell in control of your players. It feels like you try and give them suggestions, then they do what they want.
I feel like the game was great at lunch . You felt what was gonna be OP and that was finishing and steals . Last year it was shooting. So you should be able to adjust. As soon as you they patched close shots. Patched hooks patched shooting patched steals now you gotta do it all over again and spend more bread or more time it’s wild
Yeah the close shots and layups being harder than 3 pts is what killed it for me. If u had a PG that couldnt dunk but had a high layup it was nerfed into Oblivion. Some people don't want to dunk all the time but what to do finesse layups and it first you could go inside now i gotta a 99 layup Hot of Fame everything and smoke layups where the defense just stands there doesn't jump or anything cause they know they don't have to anymore and it's 50% contest anyway.
Can’t say that content creators don’t help taint the game. Take 6’9 builds for instance. There wouldn’t be a 6’9 “meta” if CZcamsrs didn’t create that and put it out. They game was great when it was first released. Fast forward a couple months and the game is watered down and ppl begin complaining, then 2k come out with some trash update from tweets.
I miss when playing online felt more about actually competing rather then trying to get the best youTube clip and trying to break ankles. Where playing with people was more about playing basketball rather then random's trying to go 1 on 5 and trying to get a highlight dunk or shooting 3's from the moon. 2k went from simulation to arcade style over the last couple of years.
This issue isn’t content creators exactly. However, creators have a lot of sway on public opinion and recently a lot of creators have been very negative. Which in turns makes the average person more likely to be negative too. People need to learn it’s okay to love something even if your favorite CZcamsr doesn’t.
I agree bro content creator’s definitely had sway in the community pre2k19 Anonymous definitely influence it at one point, Agent at one point, and many others who built their platform during the 2k15-19 era a lot of the rings asked for by content creators were put into the game. Without those recommendations we’d still be getting the 2k10 style of basketball and my career. Content creators can’t have it one way and accept the good things the game brings out and not the bad. Now are they responsible fully no because the developers make the game ultimately but we have to keep things consistent and real, content creators did at one point have some respected recommendations that did make it to the game. At this point 2K breaks the profit threshold for their company regardless of performance because of the fan base built around the game and the nba. You have to understand some people hate the game but love nba basketball so 2K being clearly one of the top products for nba basketball it will gain fans and money every release regardless of any negativity.
I’m a fan here I take a lot of all city’s tips to better my game my personal opinion as of right now whatever 2k did I can shoot again.. for the most part I never used the shot meter but learning that 2k changes the timings every single game gave me some ammo to work with instead of being super frustrated I’m now just frustrated. My favorite 2k was 22 current gen I feel the shooting wasn’t overpowered but realistic missing an open jumpshot shouldn’t be as consistent as making a contested layup. I think 2k23 wasn’t there best effort I played since 2k15.. 2k22 was my favorite but 2k20 made me the shooter I am today being able to adapt to the constant frustrating updates and shooting based on where u are on the floor man I feel 2k23 went backwards. I like the skill based objective gives 2k19 vibes which was a great game in my opinion but they don’t keep the system consistent enough💯
Yea but at end of the day 2k is the one making these gameplay changes. Changes should be made from testing the game not from some people's opinion on what needs to change. It's still on 2k not content creators let's be real
I got the game so i can play with my friend who ditched cod, Fortnite and rocket League to solely play 2k23. I have been grinding about 4 hours a day now for 4 days and my guy is still only a 68 overall. I refuse to spend 100 bucks just to be on a level my friends are at just because they got the game first. And without being on a same level are even able to be close makes the game unenjoyable for not only me but my friends that have to carry me every game. Without being able to shoot either because my stats need vc to be upgraded is even more frustrating. Everyone's telling me that's how it is at first You have to grind to upgrade your player so that way you're able to hit shots. I'm sorry but I'm not interested in grinding out a game for days on end just to be able to shoot a ball The game is basketball I want to be able to shoot the ball makes no sense to me. Truly frustrating experience.
Badges ruin the game. The best 2ks either had no badges or very very few. Every year as soon as the game comes out, everyone talks about how good it is. Once everyone gets all their badges, the game falls apart and patch after patch after patch comes out.
No they couldve done alot better some of the new stuff they have with bumping someone in the air and taking blocks was a mistake,the shooting I actually dont mind to much,the catch animations are rough but i still do well just need a badge for it
Last year ball could be passed out of bounds, altho rarely. Near 0 balls passed into crowd altho happens near every NBA game. Ai is cheating trash & sliders r trash that don't work half the time. It feels like anti NBA sim that cheats. I put Duncan Robinson player slider at 0 to attack basket. 1st basket ai does w DR is a layup.
I love this game. I've been playing 2k since 2k2 but I didn't start exploring the game thoroughly until 2k18 when I really started playing more of the game outside of the my career mode/single player modes. I think this game was heavily team oriented in the gameplay and a LOT OF folks did not like that. I am a team first pass first guy which is not the mindset of many 2k players. (I personally believe players grades and matching up should be based on team play and defense, lol, i know here comes the hate) In past games players could dribble sauce up and dominate solo. I really believe the people who aren't feeling this year's game couldn't adjust. But let's keep it real, 2k every year go thru the high in the beginning and the low as the game has been out and other games release making players drift off. Good game, not great. 2k really did some poor things especially the scoring goal for legend when the game is heavily team oriented.

This gm is much more realistic and I love the fact that they added the adrenaline bars. Since you play comp I thought you would be thinking the same...... but it looks like you aren't as "real life basketball" as I thought. Different shoot timing on the court is real life ball. The further away the less you jump. Also, your triple threat affects your speed of the jumpshot. I've been playing 2k since the 1st on Dreamcast with Iverson on the cover.

This game was great before all The updates but after the updates I’ve completely lost interest in the game only thing to build creators for are those dumb meta builds why can’t people build how they play and not how their favorite content creator plays.
Let’s address the real problem here! The real problem is there’s only 1 NBA game and it’s split into 2! That’s the real issue. 2k should have just left the game alone when it launched, 2k’s problem is they continue to patch and nerf the game when Mike Wang quote on quote said he wasn’t going to make changes to the game at all. I played rec last night and matched up witha team and No lie i played 4 quarters and they didn't pass me the ball one time... I actually stayed because i was actually shocked. I grabbed rebounds made like 4 unselfish assists got a few pluck steals kept 15+ pts per game player to about 7 or 8 pts .. as SF a played the wing and watched two dudes with the rodman hair a PG and a center literal play 4 man ball the entire game with the pick and roll alley oops..or the pG would shoot threes and NGL the PG was very good. He could shoot of the dribble as a 6'9 , Pass all that. But as the time melted away i came to realization that i realpy don't like the people who play this game even in a blow our game i had zero fun and just to make matters worse over time in frustration i kinda lagged on defense i mean who wants to keep running back and forth the whole game doing virtual Cardio..the guard must of felt some slither on humanity for a second and started to exclusively give me the ball and i scored 10 pts with the remaining 2 mins left in the game on 100% shooting ..im a level 29 with a Gold badge meaning i win a decent amount of games playing solo and despite the win i didn't run with them again even though it would probably been an easy win but i refused. The whole game i kept thinking to myself "what did I do to these dudes to literally ice me out from tip off ?". Like why treat another person like that who did nothing wrong and still played to be a good teammate despite this instead of standing out of bounds and throwing the game i turner into a defensive role player because that's who I am.. i really don't understand why this community loves to do that. I like to win but i ASLO want to actually enjoy the time i choose to spend on the game and not be somebody else's facilitator for THEIR goat status or level 40 dreams . I'm done .

The points requirement to hit legend is the main issue with rec play. I’ve been in that situation before and although I could’ve stuck with the team to keep winning it’s not fun just playing defense and being frozen out on offense. At one point the other team just stopped guarding me because they knew I wasn’t getting the ball.

This is also one of the main reasons I stopped playing. Built a 7’0 interior force and was only good for rebounds DIDNT get not one offensive take. I stopped defending after that I no longer even cared about the game we still won😂

It's so limited when you finally make a build that it gets boring AF in a short amount of time. I started in 2k5 but I remember 2k13-2k16 I felt like it was going in a good direction at that point I usually play point guard. Back then the only thing a build would lack would be rebounding as a point guard if I made em. But after some time it'd become more and more frustrating that you be lacking in several categories.

I've been playing 2K since the dreamcast, playing online with dial up talking trash with a keyboard. I 100% feel this is the best 2K, it's definitely one of the hardest to master mainly due to all the updates but none the less the learning curve was necessary. Ya have to understand that this is a new version of 2K and its going to be a learning curve not just for the players but also the developers. If you keep releasing the same exact game everytime there's almost no reason to pick up a new 2K. I understand this is a new mechanic and understand it takes time to get it right. But ultimately I feel 2K23 is a great game that's trying to find its way.

I've been playing since Dreamcast as well and I don't think this is the best 2k ever but it's far from the worst and I hit 40 every season and have fun every night and I usually run with randoms
Day 1 it was amazing to me. Now you don't know what you going to get game to game. Never mind you, do it's not going to be even close to last game. One game I'm 4 for 6 from 3. Next I can't hit a single shot. It's not just me. My buddy who is way better then me and shots 65 to 70% from 3 is having same problem.

Got this game on switch couple months ago. Played myleague a lot. Simmed to feb. LJ 12 points from Kareem record. Played w Lakers. 0 mention of record breaking moment when it happened, at half, or after game. Now I'm getting rid of game for the show 23.

thank you for this SO MUCH!!!!! I have tried to get into NBA2K since 2K17 but the game play always seemed too difficult for me. Since my recovery, I have noticed my hand-eye coordination just isn't what it used to be when I was more into gaming. but since 2K17 I have not AT ALL enjoyed the game until 2K23.....But I have noticed such huge inconsistencies in shooting accuracy with most players and I thought it was just cause I sucked. Why is the shot meter going so much faster only a few feet closer to the basket? or.....why did the shot go in last time and all the same factors were present....if my Dark Matter Isaiah Thomas shoots a long jumper from the EXACT same location shouldn't the shot meter work the same way? anyway, watching this made me realize that my suspicions were correct......I might suck with my handeye coordination but 2K sucks too insofar as how inconsistent gameplay seems to be
As an old head or whatever you want to call me, I started with NBA Live and of course things were simple then. Started with 2k I believe it was 2k15...can't really remember. But been here for a min...I seen a lot of good and more bad... personally, I don't know what it takes to make a game, but I feel like they don't listen to us, or the respected Content Creators like yourself City, but things need to get better, sooner than later. I agree. The game was best when it first came out. The only complaint I had was the spamming of the steal button (which takes no skill or IQ btw) and getting rewarded for it. Other than that the game was perfect. You actually had to know how to play the game of basketball to be successful.

I'd consider myself an OG 2k player, i was playing NBA 2k, the first one on dreamcast as a kid. At the beginning of the year '23 was one of the best released there was a gap instilled into the game. From shooting being more difficult, to defense being more balanced compared to offense. But then comes the PGs complaining they're getting plucked too much by HOF glove when they only had Gold Unpluckable on their player. Then comes the complaints about shooting when the community asked for a gap because shooting was too easy on '22. So the game gets dumbed down and forces the community to pay more money and make new builds because of what some streamers, mainly PGs were complaining about. Yes there are cosmetic issues like the 3 second rule absence, catch animations, etc. Even the red contests going in isn't a bad thing if it's a Green Release, it doesn't happen often at all to be real and when it does the shooter had a perfect release so what's the issue with that. It sucks that park is dead now but the theater gets you constant games and variety so there's a good trade off. The game is more balanced and could be better cosmetically but from the complaints the game changed. Now 6'7 lockdowns are nerfed, now wide open slightly release aren't going in when people basically asked 2k to take out Sniper. Too much complaining. The game is too expensive to level up quickly but that's the grind and love of basketball to get on and grind players to get them to a 99 overall. But most of the complaints are influenced by creators when it could easily be diffused and find new ways to beat the system. Interested to get your take on this but I'm coming from an unbiased view, I don't get paid for playing the game nor would I quit my job to work at 2k sports but the game isn't bad at all.

I have played since 2k11 and i consider my self as a 2k veteran, this game is good, but they cater to the creators of the game more than balance for all.
I played 15,16,17,19,20 MyPark and by far this year was the worst experience I've ever had with the Neighbourhood concept. The City is laggy and hollow, people are just sitting around or doing sidequests for 300 vc. You go to play games and you run into the same lineups, finding maybe one player under 6'9 in 10 games (which takes hours long to get through). We should both know there's been meta's in the game's history but not to this level. The arcade aspects are gone leaving a slow moving quick first step mess of a dribbling system, discouraging any creativity for the creative ball handler, and suggesting one version of basketball we don't look for in a video game. The only playable modes are pro-am and theater. I didn't play 2k22 but I can't imagine it being worse than what this is now. No variety, empty, soulless "video game" that people still buy every year because they want to play virtual basketball and have fun. If what you say is true, the game would be better. But that part is just my opinion (the other stuff is just objectively true). I am on the side for a video game where any build can be affective and win in any fashion as long as the basketball is played fair. If they continue on this path I don't see much value in buying the game every year, maybe buying it once the current purchased 2k runs out of time (the worst thing about these games).
I started playing when it first came out in the early 2000’s I think it was 2002 if I’m not mistaken. What I hate about 2k more than anything is shooting during career vs the rec is completely different
I'm just frustrated because PC is still NOT considered Next Gen. This is my first year on PC, having only been able to be on Android on 2k20. I'm also frustrated about the animation and ratings cap. That's even when I only play offline and just lab on BlackTop and 2KU.

The true enemy will *forever* be Take Two Interactive. But, if I’m being completely honest, the creators are the reason the entire playerbase has the same badge loadouts, the same animations & even the same green release visuals/sound effects. But at the same time, you can also chalk that up to 2K’s lack of transparency with what each badge/animation benefits or negates.

There aren’t many people who enjoy gaming making the games now. It’s more incentive based than anything. They shoot for their record breaking numbers at launch and after a couple weeks devs disappear. Which is why the game is always on sale around March. They are not taking any initiative to listen to the community that actually plays. The nextmakers don’t make it any better either.
In my opinion i feel the fluidity was better on ps3 and regular xbox , fast breaks now i feel when you get the ball its like your player freeze's for a sec instead of a fluid motion , i wish 2k had the fluidity of fifa

I'm at the point where I believe there are daily patches that buff/nerf certain aspects of the game. I'm a myteam player and it seems like certain cards are only good for a few days after you get them. I swear, I play sooo many games that it's noticeable. I had to play 35 games to get Pistol Pete and proceeded to green 60 plus shots straight on superstar! Currently he can't hoop at all! I have no clue what happened. I believe it's not us at all. It's something the devs are playing with
Yeah this wouldn’t surprise me. Fifa is the same exact way - makes sense they would use similar tactics. Same with their “dynamic difficulty adjustment”. 2k has it just like fifa which is why “tempo” exists in a video game where it really technically shouldn’t affect attributes.
I notice this especially in the rec some games dunks are unlockable the next game you can't make nothing same with shooting I went one game 9-10 the next 3-9
I also believe there are daily adjustments made to the game. Not sure why but sometimes you can shoot lights out sometimes u cant. Sometimes u can drive on 3 people and other times u can't even dunk on one person.

I feel like everytime I get on 2k it’s like a different game, one day I get on the game I don’t get bobble catch animations, next day almost every catch n shoot I get is a bobble catch, somometimes I feel like 2k be changing the sliders like one team is playing on hof sliders while the other team is Playing on rookie, like ball handlers be having the ball no clip thorough defenders, full court passes getting caught while people moon walk by the sideline and don’t go out of bounds , etc, I feel like the game was good when it came out, when they patched rim running the game was good, it became bad when they made the game more noob friendly by allowing higher frequencies of rim runs/ blow bus,and poster dunks especially with multiple defenders contesting,

2k23, is a great game IMO. My problem is not with the game. It's the players that play the game. I only complain about the game when I'm playing Rec. Every other mode besides that myteam BS is cool with me.
I don't care about the microtransactions because we ask for a lot then act like it's not supposed to cost. I'm still learning new things on the game. I'm looking forward to 2k24.

I play this game a ton- my biggest issue is small guards can dribble with impunity - everything else is tolerable. I don’t care about uneven timing because shooting %s are too high anyway. I can get into the weeds on other things but EVERY YEAR you can do that. I can make a list of smaller nuisances. Gameplay wise, punish excessive dribblers, punish toxic rec players (standing out of bounds, just moving enough to not get kicked, not passing) - and I’m fine with the game because I’m playing basketball, I’m not playing to dribble around forever and do goofy ish. Give me body ups when I play good defense and punish the Off player when they get beat and reward contests- I’ll live with the rest. Game is unplayable when you don’t have that
This game was way better day 1, I think. We all knew what we were getting and made builds to adjust. Now you don't know one minute to the next. There is always going to be something someone doesn't like, and it will never ever be perfect. But if its running smoothly, leave it alone even if something is overpowered. We can adjust to that. There is always ways to compensate for something overpowered. The sad part is I have finally made a build that is my favorite build by far. So much so I made it on both current and nxt gen. It's still hard to enjoy this game.

The big issue is the shooting is not designed for Play Now. It's technically not designed for the NBA at all. It's designed for My Players.
They only gripe I truly have is different shots everytime I shoot the fucking ball. That shit sucks. Everything else is fire, but the perimeter d is lowkey hit and miss as well
This year killed it for casuals. Being 70 or 99 makes no difference in shooting ability, and that’s not how it should be. 70 you should be missing even if you green from time to time. You don’t want this game to just be sweats, you want the biggest player base possible.

If they listened to the content creators the game would suck. Shakedown is the closest to the 2K devs from what I've seen and he has had some horrible ideas over the years, I'm glad they haven't done some of the stuff he wants.
The game has moved forward and gotten better in some aspects, but in others it has gotten worse. Like this year is the worst 2K ever when it comes to actual control of your player. You get forced into too many animations, the game will take control of your player.... it makes you stick to the ground when trying to block or rebound, it slows you down when dribbling up the sideline on a fast break, pass to an open man and the game drags him behind a defender for a turnover, catch a pass after you stopped moving and 2K puts you in an animation where you walk off the court...etc.
We don't have as much control of our players as we used to. I bought the game to play it, not watch it.

Been playing 2K for a few years now and I have the least amount of fun on 23 , shooting is too inconsistent, I play with my friends and he’s a 7’0 and he struggles with paint shots too. In 22 I would knock down 3s consistently and shoot with the best of em but in 23 there’s no consistency I’ve changed my shots multiple times and have even debated just making a defensive passing build with no offense because of how inconsistent it is

My biggest complaint about this game is it rewards computer defense and playing off ball. The old 2ks always rewarded doing everything manually whether it be rebounding defending etc. they keeping rewarding little boy defense every year and they wonder why they ain’t making the same bread

Getting beat up while going for a dunk and no foul.. Getting someone with a pump fake they jump and land on you and its a block smh... The delay is horrible dribble moves and the animations respond after the fact which most of the time result in turnover
2k should cut out all the fluff and just focus on game play. I hate how players execute dribbling moves like 2 seconds after you call for the move. You simply no longer fell in control of your players. It feels like you try and give them suggestions, then they do what they want.

Yeah the close shots and layups being harder than 3 pts is what killed it for me. If u had a PG that couldnt dunk but had a high layup it was nerfed into Oblivion. Some people don't want to dunk all the time but what to do finesse layups and it first you could go inside now i gotta a 99 layup Hot of Fame everything and smoke layups where the defense just stands there doesn't jump or anything cause they know they don't have to anymore and it's 50% contest anyway.

Can’t say that content creators don’t help taint the game. Take 6’9 builds for instance. There wouldn’t be a 6’9 “meta” if CZcamsrs didn’t create that and put it out. They game was great when it was first released. Fast forward a couple months and the game is watered down and ppl begin complaining, then 2k come out with some trash update from tweets.
I miss when playing online felt more about actually competing rather then trying to get the best youTube clip and trying to break ankles. Where playing with people was more about playing basketball rather then random's trying to go 1 on 5 and trying to get a highlight dunk or shooting 3's from the moon. 2k went from simulation to arcade style over the last couple of years.

Which in turns makes the average person more likely to be negative too. People need to learn it’s okay to love something even if your favorite CZcamsr doesn’t.
I agree bro content creator’s definitely had sway in the community pre2k19 Anonymous definitely influence it at one point, Agent at one point, and many others who built their platform during the 2k15-19 era a lot of the rings asked for by content creators were put into the game. Without those recommendations we’d still be getting the 2k10 style of basketball and my career. Content creators can’t have it one way and accept the good things the game brings out and not the bad. Now are they responsible fully no because the developers make the game ultimately but we have to keep things consistent and real, content creators did at one point have some respected recommendations that did make it to the game. At this point 2K breaks the profit threshold for their company regardless of performance because of the fan base built around the game and the nba. You have to understand some people hate the game but love nba basketball so 2K being clearly one of the top products for nba basketball it will gain fans and money every release regardless of any negativity.
I’m a fan here I take a lot of all city’s tips to better my game my personal opinion as of right now whatever 2k did I can shoot again.. for the most part I never used the shot meter but learning that 2k changes the timings every single game gave me some ammo to work with instead of being super frustrated I’m now just frustrated. My favorite 2k was 22 current gen I feel the shooting wasn’t overpowered but realistic missing an open jumpshot shouldn’t be as consistent as making a contested layup. I think 2k23 wasn’t there best effort I played since 2k15.. 2k22 was my favorite but 2k20 made me the shooter I am today being able to adapt to the constant frustrating updates and shooting based on where u are on the floor man I feel 2k23 went backwards. I like the skill based objective gives 2k19 vibes which was a great game in my opinion but they don’t keep the system consistent enough💯
Yea but at end of the day 2k is the one making these gameplay changes. Changes should be made from testing the game not from some people's opinion on what needs to change. It's still on 2k not content creators let's be real
I got the game so i can play with my friend who ditched cod, Fortnite and rocket League to solely play 2k23. I have been grinding about 4 hours a day now for 4 days and my guy is still only a 68 overall. I refuse to spend 100 bucks just to be on a level my friends are at just because they got the game first. And without being on a same level are even able to be close makes the game unenjoyable for not only me but my friends that have to carry me every game. Without being able to shoot either because my stats need vc to be upgraded is even more frustrating. Everyone's telling me that's how it is at first You have to grind to upgrade your player so that way you're able to hit shots. I'm sorry but I'm not interested in grinding out a game for days on end just to be able to shoot a ball The game is basketball I want to be able to shoot the ball makes no sense to me. Truly frustrating experience.
Badges ruin the game.
The best 2ks either had no badges or very very few.
Every year as soon as the game comes out, everyone talks about how good it is.
Once everyone gets all their badges, the game falls apart and patch after patch after patch comes out.
I stopped after season 3 it’s unplayable for me. I just get angry and have no fun. I’m not wasting my money for 24

No they couldve done alot better some of the new stuff they have with bumping someone in the air and taking blocks was a mistake,the shooting I actually dont mind to much,the catch animations are rough but i still do well just need a badge for it
Last year ball could be passed out of bounds, altho rarely. Near 0 balls passed into crowd altho happens near every NBA game. Ai is cheating trash & sliders r trash that don't work half the time. It feels like anti NBA sim that cheats. I put Duncan Robinson player slider at 0 to attack basket. 1st basket ai does w DR is a layup.
I love this game. I've been playing 2k since 2k2 but I didn't start exploring the game thoroughly until 2k18 when I really started playing more of the game outside of the my career mode/single player modes. I think this game was heavily team oriented in the gameplay and a LOT OF folks did not like that. I am a team first pass first guy which is not the mindset of many 2k players. (I personally believe players grades and matching up should be based on team play and defense, lol, i know here comes the hate) In past games players could dribble sauce up and dominate solo. I really believe the people who aren't feeling this year's game couldn't adjust. But let's keep it real, 2k every year go thru the high in the beginning and the low as the game has been out and other games release making players drift off. Good game, not great. 2k really did some poor things especially the scoring goal for legend when the game is heavily team oriented.
Bro when they say content creators it’s not you bro. You’re a real one. It was the cheese heads bro. Every year 2k came out before 2022 complained about every year bro. And they didn’t like casuals being able to play so they started asking for changes. Then they got it and now the game is trash.
Ya be trippin fr. As far as expenses are concerned I agree it should cost less. As far as the gm is concerned I hear you talking about you want those goofy dribbles from 2k22 because it " specs up the gm". Miss me with that.... I don't like arcade games I'm into simulation. This gm is much more realistic and I love the fact that they added the adrenaline bars. Since you play comp I thought you would be thinking the same...... but it looks like you aren't as "real life basketball" as I thought. Different shoot timing on the court is real life ball. The further away the less you jump. Also, your triple threat affects your speed of the jumpshot. I've been playing 2k since the 1st on Dreamcast with Iverson on the cover.

They no doubt did a good job. They just couldn't keep me playing like in previous years. Definitely the least annoying out of all my experiences.
No cap this my fav 2k … I played the og 2k from 1 till like 3 then came back at 19-23 and this still my fav this yr… it’s not perfect by any means and the VC price is wild !!! But I love that ur can’t spam dribble or spam steal and u have to green to make a shot … passing lane steals are a bit op and bump steal or blocks that fall back into the offensive player is just dumb but I still enjoy the game I only play rec and pro am … but I feel 2k can still do better and should keep making the game have more learning curves
You literally can’t steal the ball anymore. And shot timing changes are horrendous

The updates but after the updates I’ve completely lost interest in the game only thing to build creators for are those dumb meta builds why can’t people build how they play and not how their favorite content creator plays.
