      Classic song, but don't forget folks that Led Zeppelin literally blew them off the stage in Jan1969 Filmoore East. They actually refused to go on after the mighty Zeppelins performance!!

    It was 50 years ago... My little sister had called me, I was stationed in Saigon in Vietnam. She told me about a revolutionary music... She made me listen to the beginning of the song. I will never forget this moment...

      My brother Bernie was in Viet Nam at about the same time. I'm 64 and play this song all the time bringing me back to those days. I was almost sent there but thank God it didn't happen. Steppenwolf is also a very good band with fantastic memories.

    Today is June 26, 2024. I'm 77 years old (22 in 1968!). This is my FIRST TIME hearing the whole 17 minute version. Wowza! ❤ I moved from SLC, Utah to Hollywood, CA in 1968 ☺

    My very first concert as I was 12 years old. I think the drum solo was at least 15 minutes! I loved it because my dad was a professional drummer.

    Many years ago (when I was in my twenties) I rented an old farmhouse out in the boonies. In the summer I'd put this on and crank the stereo way up on high. Didn't have neighbors close so I could do that.

      I was 13 when I bought the ALBUM! Listened to that so much that I and all of my friends could "do" the drum solo, beating on the kitchen table with our hands!

    LOL - Oh,. the memories. One of my older siblings bought this album for me on my 11th birthday - mid June, 1968. I did some heavy rocking out to this masterpiece.

      I was 11 in 1968. I had to listen to this at a friend's house, My dad ( GOD LOVE HIM ) was in the Air Force so hearing music like this in the house was taboo. Later he lightened up. That was the year we went to Madrid Spain for 4 years. I learned long version or short version. What a great time ! Lord I miss it !

    Never knew the vocalist's name but the voice and the music were imprinted in my mind as a young high schooler. Of course almost everyone knew the name of the group. RIP Doug Ingle.

    In'68 a carload of us headed for the shores of L. Mich. north of Chi town one summer Sunday. It was a convertible so the top was down and In The Garden...was playing, full blast of course. It wasn't until we had parked the car that we heard that the entire beach was listening to it as well! A cosmic Day for sure!

    I was at a dance in San Francisco in 1970 and the band that played was Iron Butterfly. This song is 17 minutes long. Somehow the name evolved from the title "In the Garden of Eden"...

      First heard of it in 2007 when I was working in car rental company and my colleague told me about this song because she didn't guess it right on the radio and was really pissed... Later on, I found out that Nas used it as a sample for "Hip Hop is dead" from 2004... Some, years later, I found out that Bart Simpson caused a hell of a chaos in the church with this song! 😄 😄

    Baltimore MD radio station in the 60s would play this as the least song of the day. Back then, the station went offline at midnight. This really takes me back.

    I have the CD!! I remember going to a Higher Elevation on Sunday Nights, just so we could listen to the Uncut, 17 minute version on AM Radio!! That was 1969!

    Dude I heard this song a few times but radio stations always edit the song so I never heard the entire song but my god, it is a MASTER PIECE wit the transitions from the beginning to the silence of all instruments to just drums to drums and organ to little guitar riffs and slowly coming right back and ending it the exact way it started with one more chorus. It's is incredible. Best 17 minutes of rock. This is what got me into them and The Doors and Jimi. Just masterpiece music. Even Queen. And fuckin hell. The music bouncing left and right (for headphones users who know what I mean) awesome shit on that. This is the 3rd time I played it in the past hour
