- Sto-Rox High School in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania has been without softball and baseball programs for three years. This year they're back, but there's still some work that must be done.

I am so happy to see the softball back. My daughter has been looking forward to playing for the high-school since elementary school. By the time she was a freshman it was gone, now shes a jr. and it may only be 2 yrs instead of 4 to play but we are all very excited and thankful she will have those 2 yrs.

Quite sad to see Sto-Rox groveling for money to spend on athletics, especially with the video inferring that athletics will lead to better academics. The school gives absolutely no recognition to academics, only sports achievements. There are many accomplished doctors, lawyers, engineers, and others who have graduated Sto-Rox but you will see literally no recognition given to them in the High School (or elsewhere). You will only see recognition for sports. This sends a message to students that academics are relatively unimportant, and sports is the most meaningful aspect of success in life. They have "Sports Hall of Fame Banquets," but you would never see an "Academic Hall of Fame Banquet" at Sto-Rox." All in all, money would be better spent on education at Sto-Rox rather than sports.
