awesome. that pocket brake looks awesome and fast. would love to see more field work sheet metal. too many use Pittsburgh machines. the way you did the end cap is much cleaner than using S locks. Do you have a Hensley bender for demoing some sheet metal work? Also real world talk about gauges used for new construction and rework - seems 30 gauge is not code but often sold and used, vs 24, 26, 28 gauges.

Man I’ve been doing this for 25 years and that pocket break looks to be fantastic! Cant wait to get one! I was going to ask how the hell you handbrake that nice and straight where you want it but then saw you used a straight edge but only use the straight edge on a couple of the breaks. I know the cross breaks aren’t important to keep straight necessarily but the 90° fold for your dimension is.

I need to know how to modify return air at the furnace to accept an air filter so the vacuum created sucks the filter tight to the unit. Right now, the filter is in the channel in the unit which allows unfiltered air to bypass and circulate through the house. Not much clearance to replace the filter in the unit due to the unit being placed where the access is facing the so called chimney that vents the CO1. Seems as if no hvac installer wants to waste their time to help out and do some metal work. Not like I’m not willing to pay for the work performed, not like I’ve ever said that’s way too much money for such a small job, I’m a skilled tradesman and know costs, but after watching your video, I feel as though I could do it myself with the correct guidance. It's probably 28ga, maybe 30. I've run metal shops all my life, residential and commercial, and I've never made duct or plenums out of anything lighter than 26 because anything lighter is nonsense. Any reputable metal tradesman would tell you the same. And this tool would therefore be worthless.

When you broke the sheet metal on the grass, was that just to simulate field brakes?

Sure. We've all hacked out ductwork out in the field.

Foil tape can also be used on the supply side to seal a plenum. As far as the Return side, it doesn't matter. These can be constructed with typical construction materials like wood and sheet rock and don't need to be sealed, necessarily. Spent quite a bit of time building supply plenums in New Construction housing. Don't have to do that on the service (diagnostic side) that much at all. I don't like climbing into rafters and working in close-quarters. I have the brain for the service side, so I'm ultimately glad that I'm done with that 'new construction' part of my life.

@@DiversiTechCorp I couldn't find one locally. I just placed a backorder for one of these pocket brakes through the link you provided in the AC Service Tech LLC pinned comment. Thank you for helping us find a place to purchase one of them. If it works like it did in the video, I know several other people that will want one for themselves.

I used it this week to fabricate some changes to a return air duct work installation.
It is an AWESOME tool! I recommended it to other technicians.

Supposedly this is a Hilmor product, but they show no such tool on their website as of 1/8/2021. I have a feeling Craig got his hands on an early release of a new tool that is not yet available to the rest of the general public. Looks great though. I'd love to hang up my window screen tool.

Great video, as always. As many of the other comments have mentioned, no link to the Hilmor 'Pocket Brake'. Is this a prototype you're testing or is this a new tool coming out soon? Nobody can find it searching the internet. 😞 I'll keep watching your posts to see if you reply. I could have used this a few weeks ago.
