    I've been thinking about getting a rice roll steamer but wanted to see how they work. Rice noodle rolls are my favorite. Thanks for posting.

    Thank you. Nice video, great recipe descriptions. One thing I would add is, that with large families, it may be more advantageous to get a double or triple tier steamer box, so that your cooking rate is increased. Also, I prefer the ones that have a removable cover, as this allows one to steam all kinds of other things besides rice noodles. Crabs, clams and other sea foods is a favorite. Cheers!

    Thanks for sharing. We just tried for the first time using your advice, and they came out very good. I am sure with a little more practice we'll get the timing down a little better.

    You can also strain your batter for a smoother batter... less chance of those clumps if you ever get those clumps.

    Chris, thanks for this video. I just got one of these Steamer Boxes for my birthday. Problem is not much in the manual. Thank goodness for your video. I do have a question (well, one to start with). How much water do you pour in to begin with. I know you said to add more so it does not dry out but how much do we start with? 1 cup? 2 cups? Or how much more. And when I add more water would you recommend me adding boiling water? Thanks again. I am hungry for some Cheung Fun.

    • @ChrisXia
      @ChrisXia  Před 3 lety

      1 cup should be enough but you can add as much you want as long as it doesn't overfill.
      It doesn't have to be boiling water. I add regular room temp tap.

      @@ChrisXia thanks, like you, I prefer mine to be a bit thicker than what I’ve viewed on other videos. So, 1 cup of water was enough for you to make how many rolls before you had to add more water?

    • @ChrisXia
      @ChrisXia  Před 3 lety +1

      @@sarahlouie5572 Unfortunately with this, it's more of a "guess and check" kind of things. As long as the water isn't running over, you can add as much as you need.

      @@ChrisXia Okay. I’ll start with a cup and adjust as needed. Thank you again. Your video is so helpful.

    Is four minutes enough to fully cook the raw beef though? I think it would require a lot more time than that

    • @ChrisXia
      @ChrisXia  Před 3 lety

      Yep, the beef cooks fast because it’s in thin strips.

    Can I use this rice roll steamer box to make chaofun noodles?

    • @ChrisXia
      @ChrisXia  Před 3 lety

      You probably could but you might have to mix up the recipe to change the density of the noodles.
