- Hello my loves! I'm running a FREE THINKING OF LEAVING MEDICINE WORKSHOP on Tuesday 20th June for disenfranchised doctors looking for clarity around their best next steps. If that's you, this isn't one to miss! To reserve your space, register on my website at: www.helenabrid... đ«
My story about how I got into medical school! From a place of not even knowing that doctors studied "Medicine" to being the 4th year medical student I am today, I've come a long way since pre-med. I didn't have squeaky clean grades, or interview easily, I was not coached to be a perfect medical school applicant but through this process I learned so much. I hope by sharing this story you can see what a rollercoaster ride this process is and that fumbles are all part of the journey!
If you are interested in more detailed videos on how to get into medical school including personal statements, medical school interviews, UCAT and getting medical experiences, please drop me a comment or thumbs up! I have now uploaded Part 2 of this video which is about what Y1-4 are like, linked below:

thank you so much, this has been so helpful! Iâm 15 and Iâm really focused on studying medicine when I leave school. This has given me so many ideas as currently I volunteer for girl guiding and Iâm also looking to volunteer somewhere else like a care home. This video has been super helpful, thank you so so much.
You are so welcome! There are loads of volunteering opportunities - just make sure you seek them out and don't get discouraged if you can't work with a doctor, other experiences are also valuable đ
Enjoyed this video, thanks for the insight and sharing your journey. I'm applying to medicine as a grad this year. Hoping to get in
Best of luck to you!

Do you have any book recommendations that would help getting a better insight into medicine? Very informative video - đ keep it up!!!
Thank you so much! đ I enjoyed Adam Kay's book "This Is Going To Hurt" - easy to read and relatable, highlights the hardships of medicine without any sugar-coating! I also found "When Breath Becomes Air" very powerful - this story deals with mortality - which plays a huge part in Medicine.
Wellbeing with Helena wow thanks for those recommendations - I have read this is going to hurt but I havenât read when breath becomes air yet, which I now hope to read soon!!
Such a lovely story! What medical school do you go to ?
Thank you! đ I go to Barts and the London! (QMUL)

Wow, you guys really donât wear your stethoscopes around your neck? We all do in our hospitals in the West Mids
Yes! For the same reasons as not wearing ties - infection control!
Wellbeing with Helena :O hard for me to imagine here. How do you guys get around it?
