Violist Laura Liu, a student at the 2018 Heifetz Institute, performs the Cadenza for solo viola by Krzysztof Penderecki. As Laura explains in the introduction, the Cadenza is an appendix to the viola concerto: it begins just like the concerto with two repeated descending notes, marked "espressivo."
