Dene, small correction. Sadam Hassan blew up the Kuwaiti oil wells as they retreated in the first Gulf War not the Americans
You are right. They blew their oil to hide from U.S air power.
Red Adair, played by John Wayne in the interesting 1968 film Hellfighters, put them out.
That is NOT a small correction. It is a HUGE correction.
L😂L John Wayne
Was he still alive at that time ? ⏳️
2 reasons in doing so can you name them? ill give you the first but the second is the main reason you will have to look it up if you dont know. first - to create smoke to obscure us satellites. over to you for second
You got that Kuwait oil fire wrong the vast majority of the burning we see in those photos was caused by Iraqi forces
During World War II, the American 8th USAF Army destroyed all German refineries in Europe - it were not civilian tatgets? Refineries giving fuel to industry and army and they are able produce more weapons. In all PC strategic games is much smarter to cut enemy resources, than destroy more weapons that was produced thanks to additional resources.

As a Finn I am proud to say that there is no imposed limitations on the use of military aid from Finland. Slava Ukraini!
Yeah it's crazy for allies to say that Ukraine can only use weapons to destroy the enemy when they are in Ukraine.
🇸🇪👍🏻💛🇺🇦💙
Indeed no limitations and same no limitation with stuf from Estonia and a few other places.
How the heck did the idea arise that a country should to defend with their arms tied to the back?
And then that Vallstom woman who seem to think Ruzz tanks run on some kind of different diesel than everyone else = refineries are part of the war machine.
@@cloraformsgood5340
Especially when the enemy is firing deadly missiles from far outside their borders, striking just anything they want. Look at the protests against Israel for killing 30k in Gaza. Israel, at least is fighting in a war that was declared against it, but Russia......
The American’s foreign policy is a mess. They have stopped sending support, and now they are trying to tell Ukraine how to fight. Asking Ukraine to roll over is an insane policy.
Well, if our USA price of gasoline goes up this summer/fall due to Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil industry and Biden loses the election to Ukraine-hating Trump, do you think Ukraine is going to get more weapons then? Is that helping Ukraine in the long run? I don't claim to have 100% answers, but it is a question that needs to be considered.
They have stopped sending support because of Putin aligned GOP blockage. The election may resolve said blockage, but high oil prices will not help Biden get re-elected. So the U.S request makes sense given their political context. A lot of Americans will choose cheaper gas over freedom. The Iranian attack on Israel is likely to cause an increase of world oil prices.
that congress member is exactly right. Gas and oil is not civilian targets. thats the thing. This is absolutely not civilian targets being hit.
Stupid b
Austin Scott, Republican Congressman from Georgia
Even if civilians work there, it doesn't matter cuz for 1. civilians work too at weapon producing factories for example, what about those? And the life ofa russian civilian is not worth more than that of a soldier in russia since all random men get conscripted into the military or put to us.
It's just the U.S. making sure everyone see's their high horse. It doesn't mean anything really. Except now the GOP smells blood and will try to use the situation for THEIR OWN ends.
Scott will use this to disgrace Biden and help elect Trump. But don't be fooled. That is the topics only use for him. As a single tooth in an evil gear, he will not champion funding for Ukraine.
What would happen if the USA's energy infrastructure was attacked? Has she been to Ukraine and talked with a Mom who lost her son-husband? The American congress folks should go to Ukraine and see what is real! Or try to work in the capital in Washington, with intermittent power and no heat!
She is only making the statement (very badly) that U.S. policy is supposed to be highly moral and ethical, which is true. She is an idiot only bc she is obviously politically ignorant and did a horrible job of it.
Hi Denis from Mexico ,, thanks for the update
4:00 But there is no difference whether it is public or private. The main thing is that the fuel produced by these plants goes to the army.
If the army is without fuel, it will not be able to advance.
I was in Iraq, we didn't burn the oilfields the Iraqis did.

Yeah, I think Denys needs to check his facts on that one.
It's too hard to command the troops from Switzerland and self fact check
@@DenysDavydov No sweat. It was unbelievable that Saddam would do that.
The US administration has not any way to verify the refinieries are producing ONLY civilian gas / diesel. So all the refineries are legitimate targets. Beside Ukraine has no other choice to stop the tanks since USA refuse to provide more weapons to destroy tanks.
Biden thinks other countries should listen to him when everything he touches turns to 💩and always has.

1st: Destroying the distillation columns (the most critical part of the refineries) won't cause any civilian casualty simply because NO ONE is there.
2nd: If Ukraine destroys russian refineries, russian aircrafts, tanks, IFV will be inoperable. (lack of fuel). That means LESS Ukrainian civilians would die.
Why do you think a russian civilians working for the russian war machine has more right to leave than Ukrainian civilians, or Ukrainian solders?
instead of 'right to leave', I should have write right to live

Denys - I was in Desert Storm. The oil facilities were set on fire by the Iraqi Army, not the coalition forces. Very bad example.

I appreciate you man and support ukraine. There is an incorrect analogy to desert storm re: attacking oil facilities. Sadam actually set his own oil fields ablaze to obscure visibility for western aircraft.

You are totally right. I dont like when a valid cause takes lies to twist the viewers opinion, it happened exactly as you said.
Almost correct, except that these oil wells were in Kuwait, which had been occupied by Saddam's army, and which were set on fire by the Iraqis when they had to retreat.
I'm sure it was both scenarios.
Saddam also destroyed Kuwaiti oil infrastructure and was punished for it ....... Over 700 Kuwaiti oil wells were set on fire and it took several months before they were all put out and many burned for over 8 months straight

Thank you for your update Denys 👍🏻🇺🇦🇪🇺🇩🇪💙💛❤️

during Desert Storm it was the retreating Iraqis that set the oil fields on fire. The coalition forces did not strike the fields except to shut down some of the fields that could be shut down by making surgical strikes on specific equipment on the oil equipment that would stop the flooding of the area of the oildproducts.

Thank you for posting the questioning of the Department of Defense person from the Congressperson. As an American I am very upset by this apparent double standard.
Some of your fellow Americans want to elect trump which will be the death of Ukraine. Also your GOP House members are withholding aid to Ukraine

Denis thank you for what your doing with these news updates and information. Best wishes and victory to you and the people of Ukraine.

The more important point that congressman should have made is that the oil refineries are owned by the Kremlin *and the revenue from them directly fund the Russian MOD and war effort - and Russian oil products are even bartered directly with India, North Korea, and China in exchange for artillery shells and components used in drones and missiles launched at Ukraine.* That means that Russian oil production infrastructure is by definition NOT civilian. It is military, and is a valid military target according to the international rules of war. Period.
No one , even the U.S. military spokesperson says anything different, just that you could consider them civilian targets. Its a political argument.
@@tedmoss Perhaps we can compromise and call them civiliaggresive?
He does. Look for the full clip on the internet. He says they're owned by the Kremlin thus...
Wrong logic just because you exchange something does not make it a military target. When the US arms dictators in the middle east made possible by western banking system then the world trade center is a valid military target.

I thought that targeting the refining capacity was rather clever as it doesnt stop crude production , so reducing oil price impact but does make russia dependant on importing refined productd.
Thus increasing the length of the logistics lines for russia.
If they cant fuel the tanks , trains and aircraft then they cant go on the offensive. Defence will be difficult also....
Denys, I have to call BS on one of your segments. Sadam Husaine set the Kuwaiti oil fields on fire, but US air power did not hit the oil fields.
It was Oil Fire Killer Red Adair and his team who flew out to Kuwait by the USAF to put out saddam's arson in 1991.
He got that from a. Few comments and has acknowledged the mistake.

OIL FIELDS ARE NOT REFINERIES.
Saddam was setting on fire oil wells, and the USAF, US Navy, and US Army targeted refineries.
What's that you don't understand?
@@paulgallagher6544 it was not just mistake, it was a lie
The conversation between the congressman and DoD rep is one that perfectly depicts the quote, “Do what is right even when it is difficult.” I, for one, like the idea of incapacitating Russia’s war economy.
Many prominent democrats and some GOP members are owned by the same Russian oligarchs who own the oil refineries. When Russian tanks get blown up and artillery shells are fired, Russian oligarchs make money building more. When USA and its allies send equipment to Ukraine, it is replaced by new American-made equipment at American taxpayer expense.
It is hypocritical of the US to criticize the Ukrainians for going after Russia’s war machinery when the House of Representatives has not supported funding for the US to help Ukraine win in other ways
Unfortunately they wish to get elected over doing what is right
Congressman Scott knows exactly why the Biden Administration discourages those attacks, but is just asking to put on a political show. If our USA price of gasoline goes up this summer/fall and Biden loses the election to Ukraine-hating Trump, do you think Ukraine is going to get more weapons then? Is that helping Ukraine in the long run? I don't claim to have 100% answers, but it is a question that needs to be considered.
Thanks Denys.
I’m expressing concerns about America not supporting Ukraine anymore
I feel as though I must apologize for my governments behaviour. Please know that the majority of people that I know support Ukraine. It is shameful that we are not just giving you all of the equipment that we have already slated to pay to decommission. There is no reason that we shouldn't have just given it to you. Please except my apology. I have sent cash since my government isn't doing the right thing. Everyone else please consider giving. Again I beg your forgiveness. Thanks.
Glory to Ukraine. God Bless Ukraine and her people. 🇺🇦🇺🇸
I'm sure it is appreciated. I don't think the US Gov is being very sensible about things recently. Given also NATO is a huge customer of US weapons, now the EU and UK are forming an advanced weapons development program to take the dependency of the US for supplies - not good for US business long-term.
Sometimes these “top gun officials” are incredibly stupid. Zero common sense. Haven’t they heard “all is fair in love and war”???
@@niv8880 It's not like the US gave Europe any choice after WWII to let them keep advanced military research, industrial basis and the possibility of obtaining nukes. European military industry was dismantled.
@@HanSolo__ Yes more or less dismantled. France did go their own way as they had been occupied and they also took a step back from NATO as a whole when they felt they had capacity enough to defend themselves on their own terms. Sweden was never part of the WW2 and so became a prominent weapon manufacturer, both those two examples are more or less exceptions.
What is she insinuating…that civilians in the refineries are immune when they actually work for the attacking regime’s war effort. What, one rule for the victims in a peaceful sovereign Ukraine who were a nation invaded by a brutal aggressor and a different one for the terrorist aggressor? . This woman does not have an argument that holds any water.
She's part of the worst administration in history.
She is saying that the Russian oligarchs in the Putin regime own the refineries and many powerful democrats and a few republicans. Those American politicians who are on the take (Biden, Schiff, Schumer, Pelosi, Romney, et al) do not want Russian or Ukrainian oil refineries damaged. They want the war to drag on, so they can profit off the misery.

Mikkeli city is my hometown! The military base plans are interesting, as historically during WW2 Mikkeli had the headquarters of the military, among with Marshal Mannerheim, our war hero and general. Funnily enough even one of the elementary schools is called "Headquarters", as the former HQ was converted to a public school, and also housed a small museum of Mannerheim. Nowadays the building houses the expanded WW2 museum "Muisti" which translates to "Memory".

I'm glad he took Ukraine's side but was that the right answer? My understanding was that oil infrastructure IS a military target in was despite civilians presence because military equipment runs on fuel.
You are absolutely correct, it is just political cover.
In World War II the allies certainly took the position that the oil fields and refineries in Romania were fair game, as Germany fueled its war machine with Romanian petroleum products.

Imagine the fuss if anyone told America 🇺🇸 how to fight a battle on their territory let alone telling them to curtail their tactics to minimise harm to the invading forces strategic assets !!!
You have a very naive thinking about wars. You probably think Japan decided to attack Pearl Harbor for no reason. The real reason was the USA kept provoking Japan. The USA kept committing acts of war against Japan. Japan finally had enough and attacked. Same in UKraine. The USA illegally annexed Ukraine in 2014. Basically all Russia asked for was UKraine declare neutrality. THe USA ordered UKraine to refuse and not honor the peace agreement of 2015. Instead the USA built the UKraine army into the largest army of Europe. Russia not not going to watch USA aggression and wait till UKraine attacks. You are supporting another war started by the USA.
Le problème est que sans l'argent des USA l'Ukraine aurait déjà disparue depuis belle lurette.
C'est celui qui paie qui décide!
If the US was dependent on that country's weapons and aid from then. It actually makes sense to listen to them.
they are asking for aid
it remains the country who supplies the aid to make sure it does not lead to a nuclear war
I like my lawn without the radioactive mushrooms thank you
To be honest this all a mess and this will end up in peace talks with compromises so making things worse at this stage is kind of pointless
It will take a long time for the world to heal from this and gaza

Wallander is full of shit, they just doesn't want their precious prices rising.
In a war would facilities such as oil and fuel production to keep the war going be considered a civilian target or a military target?
ChatGPT
During a war, facilities such as oil and fuel production can be considered both civilian and military targets, depending on their strategic importance and how they're being utilized in the conflict. Here are some factors to consider:
Civilian Target: Oil and fuel production facilities are often essential for civilian infrastructure and economy. They supply energy for transportation, heating, and various industries. Targeting these facilities can lead to significant disruptions in the civilian population's daily lives and can be considered a violation of international humanitarian law if there is no clear military objective.
Military Target: If these facilities are directly supporting military operations, such as supplying fuel for military vehicles, aircraft, or naval vessels, they may be classified as legitimate military targets. Disrupting the enemy's ability to sustain its military operations can be a crucial strategy in warfare.
Dual-Use Facilities: Many oil and fuel production facilities have both civilian and military applications. In such cases, the distinction between civilian and military targets may become blurred, and targeting decisions may depend on factors such as the proportion of output used for military purposes and the potential impact on civilian populations.
Ultimately, the classification of such facilities as civilian or military targets may vary depending on the specific circumstances of the conflict and the applicable laws of war. Targeting decisions should always be made with careful consideration of the principles of proportionality and distinction to minimize harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure.
And again you are furios when gas prices rise
@@tomislavvaldec1 some people yes, but outside of the US we tend to prioritise peoples lives over some price rises.

Note that she never said 'If they continue we will withhold aid and arms'. This is complex diplomacy - it is not a schoolyard fight.
Then why did she say “these are civilian targets”, implied it was against international law, and dropped the European Union soft threat. And why is the US openly condemning it at all. They could just come out and say “Ukraine can do what it wishes with its own weaponry”. It’s a vague threat and the “civilian target” reasoning is a lie. It is 100% political though - avoiding gas shortages.

Congressman Scott knows exactly why the Biden Administration discourages those attacks, but is just asking to put on a political show. He knows he has that woman trapped. If our USA price of gasoline goes up this summer/fall and Biden loses the election to Ukraine-hating Trump, do you think Ukraine is going to get more weapons then? Is that helping Ukraine in the long run? I don't claim to have 100% answers, but it is a question that needs to be considered.

Slava Ukraini ❤️🇺🇦❤️💯
That congressman/senator should have asked that U.S. Defense rep. if the price of oil plays any role in this request to Ukraine. Like we all know it does, but I'd love to see her forced into a situation where she is required to lie openly to the committee. Would she do it and if it later was discovered that she was lying then she could be indicted for lying to congress.
It's obvious she WOULD NOT lie. The woman is as rigidly dense as one can get. She had just proceeded to state the moral technicalities of U.S. policy in the most simplistic way leaving the Biden Administration open to the most disdain humanly possible. She is a politically ignorant fool. After that disastrous performance
I kind of doubt she even knows how to lie 😂🤣🤦♂️
