The lead singer, Rob Halford, is 70 years old now and still has one of the best voices in hard rock today. That's a testament to his talent.
Not just talent but technique, as well. There is a lot of talent out there that sounds like hell in their later years.
He is not sounding too good these days. Old rockers should know when to give it up.
I just saw them this year and I was dead set that there were backing vocals because he still hit those high notes. I was wrong. He walked around the stage looking like an old man but he can still sing better than 90% of the rockers I hear.
Rob's voice is downright METALLIC. Operatic. Lot of classical in metal...
Priest are amazing.
I'm an old fart metalhead, but you two and your enthusiasm was so fuckin awesome to see.
We so often crawl into our camps in metal, and we lob silly opinions around, and it's dumb.
Your pure, innocent, and enthusiastic embrace is just so damn great. You use words to describe it that are dead-fuckin-on, and it is inspiring to watch.
Throw up the fuckin horns for these two. You embrace Priest, we embrace you. It's very simple. Thanks for your work. 🤘🏻😤🤘🏻
This song came out in 1982. Some other popular JP tracks to check out include "Hell Bent For Leather" (1979), "Living After Midnight" (1980), "Breaking The Law" (1980), and "Turbo Lover" (1986).
The Hellion/ Electric Eye is a must. Rob Halford is the epitome of what a Metal voice is!
@@RayfordRaySiegel"Electric Eye" is one of those songs that, when the writers say something, you wish it wasn't true.
Absolutely to be played together. Just like Journey: Feeling That Way/Anytime, Boston: Foreplay/Longtime, etc
in my opinion, Rob Halford has one of the best R&R voices of the time. "Living after midnight", "breakin the law", "the green manalishi", "screaming for vengeance", "the hellion/electric eye", "hell beant for leather", "before the dawn", "all guns blazing", "the ripper". ALL bangers, ALL definitely worth a listen.
@@eironwyman8157 The song "Painkiller" is the one Amber said she couldn't handle when she heard it.
@@theinkspot67 she needs to see the official video of them playing Painkiller, seeing is believing! Each member kills their instruments!! Glen Tipton is a BEAST!! ❤️ JP🎼🎸
80’s Rock!!!! Nothing better 🤘
Judas Priest formed in 1969. Their debut album was released in 1974. Their next album 'Sad Wings of Destiny' was released in 1976. That is the album where the band consolidated their sound and image. It is also the album that "Victim of Changes" is on. The band have been going ever since.
47 year old metal head here,😁 seeing you youngsters banging to priest put a huge smile on my face.
Breakin The Law is definitely a song you guys have to listen to. It has the toughness that this song has and it arguably is even more tough and has more of a "pump you up" aspect than You've Got Another Thing Comin'
Ha...I remember when that song came out, both parents and school teachers were clutching their pearls with kids repeating the verse...Breakin' The Law, Breakin' the Law....Hilarious.
I saw Judas Priest open for Led Zeppelin.. now THAT was a SHOW.
This Judas Priest in the early 80’s, when they were changes from a 70’s hard rock band to early 80’s heavy metal band, pain killer was from there early 90’s
They've been out since 1971. STIll rockn out hard as concrete to this day . If see them coming to your town , YA GO SEE 'EM
Yes, they've been out since 1971 .... but Rob's only been out since 1998. 😏
Like others are saying, this song is from 1982, but the group dates back to 1973-74, hence their perennial seventies sound.
@@BoogieBoogieAvenue I don't think Halford joined till like 74 if I'm right...
This is heavy metal, so if you want something from priest with more of a hook, try Livin After Midnight, Hellion Electric eye, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll, or Heading Out to the Highway,
70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's, 20's!!!!! Finally getting their recognition in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!
You've Got Another Thing Comin' is Judas Priest's biggest hit.
HELL YEAH. Hands down, my favorite Judas Priest song. Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing KILL it on guitar, and Rob Halford's voice hits like a sledgehammer. This came out when I was 13 and yes I cranked it to 11 every time it came on (but had to turn it down seconds later because, you know, parents). For your next one, I recommend "Turbo Lover" or "Breakin' the Law". To answer your question JP formed in 1969, releasing their first major album, Rocka Rolla, in 1974. This song was released in 1982, the song that made them HUGE in the United States. This song was literally everywhere in 1982.
heh, still have my Tipton Rd. sign in my garage. Not sure how that road sign wound up in my possession😉
They span 6 decades. Black Sabbath invented Heavy Metal and Judas Priest perfected it. They became REALLY popular in the 80's and still going strong. They just got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.
They are now being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It’s about damn time! Listen to the rest of Screaming for Vengeance album. Judas Priest is from the 1970s and 1980s primarily but they are still active today.
Yeah, you're right, you need to go deep down their rabbit hole. Judas Priest are one of the greatest metal bands ever. They just finally got selected to the rock and roll hall of fame, which has been a long time coming!!!
Do "Livin' after midnight", you'll like it.
Judas Priest!!?? That's Some Smokin Old early 80's METAL!! 🎤
I like how Amber dances. None of this mindless headbanging carry-on.
"You've Got Another Thing Comin'"
(Released: 6 August 1982) is the first single from Judas Priest's 8th studio album, "Screaming For Vengeance" (Released 17 July 1982). Their first album, "Rocka Rolla", was released in 1974.
React to ‘Living After Midnight’ by Judas Priest’!! It’s excellent!!
Painkiller was 1990, they worked hard to rid themselves of the hairmetal image they had gotten from the Turbo album in 86. Plus, the era called for heavier stuff. Painkiller was the heaviest thing they EVER did, and they totally redeemed themselves. This song is from 1982 and one of their better albums. They've been doing albums 1974 to present. My personal fave is either Sad Wings of Destiny from 76 or Stained Class from 78 with Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith as contenders. You mentioned " victim of changes" That's the one that will make you a fan
I’m an 80’s child, I graduated HS in 84, and seeing y’all bouncing to this song was really, really cool. I still play metal today and I like seeing the younger generation have an appreciation for my generations music.
This band started the 70's and still rockin' now a days! This song is from 1982.
Jay , to answer you question, their biggest years were late 70's and 80's. Though they are still active today. This song is 1982.
Try Living after Midnight or Breaking the Law next.
“Some Heads are Gonna Roll” and “Green Manalishi” are two of my favorites by Judas Priest
Judas Priest - firstly formed in 1969, but almost all 70's they had many lineup changes and then, boom, in 1978 Killing Machine LP made them worldwide famous. In 80's they are "gods of metal" with many classic heavy metal songs. And they still active - the last LP „Firepower” was released in 2018.
This is early heavy metal, I saw them in 1984, lead singer Rob Halford drives a Harley onto the stage. Definitely the heaviest metal band I ever heard. Breaking the law is another hit. 👍
Eric Bloom of B.O.C. was riding his Harley onto the stage in the 70's. Guess they both had the same idea.
My favorite Judas Priest song is Hellion/Electric Eye. It hits home today. It’s freaky
"I'm elected, electric spy / I'm protected electric eye" Hm, electronic spying? Doesn't seem relevant today at all... 😂 Love this song!
Finally! I've been waiting for you guys to hit this song. Some other great songs from Judas Priest ; Love Bites, Breaking the Law, Turbo Lover, Some Heads are Gonna Roll, Heading out to the Highway, Sinner, and Electric Eye.
This song is from 1982. Their heyday was 1974-1984. But they kept cranking great metal well into the late 90’s. Still releasing new music and touring today. Only 2 remain from the classic line up.
Judas Priest debut album as released in 1974; their commercial breakthrough was in 1980; this song is from 1982.
"You've Got Another Thing Comin' " was the 1st and only single Judas Priest charted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking @ #67 in 1982.
I'm not sure because I'm too lazy to look it up (true story), but didn't Turbo Lover chart too? I don't know....
@@jfn2462 Not according to the Billboard chart book. Aside from "YGATC," they list 6 Judas Priest titles in their "Classic Non-Hot 100 Songs" (songs that received radio airplay as LP tracks but either weren't released as singles or failed to chart: (1976): Victim of Changes, (1978): Beyond the Realms of Death, (1979): Hell Bent For Leather, (1980): Breaking the Law, (1980): Living After Midnight, (1990): Painkiller.
Turbo Lover was released as a single in the UK but it DID chart on the Billboard US Album Rock Tracks chart, peaking at #44.
J.P. has so many Hits! LIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT and HEADING OUT TO THE HIGHWAY are two Must Hear Priest songs!
Judas Priest has created true metal music starting in the 1970's through today. Still creating great music.
My very first concert in 1982, I was 16. This band is phenomenal and Rob Hanford has a voice like no other. More is definitely needed here.
Whenever I introduce someone to Judas Priest, I always start with this song, that rockin' rhythm and gritty vocals, and then that solo, always leaves them wanting more. 2nd is Turbo Lover, then Painkiller, gotta ease into the real heavy stuff, lol.
This is my goto band way back from Jr.High up until present.....You should check out 'Love Bites' or 'Turbo Lover'....They have an enormous library to pick from.
Judas Priest got started in the mid 70's and hit their peak in the early 80's.
There one of best groups of all time there in the hull of fame rock and roll
I have met Ian Hill, bass player and along with Rob Halford the lead singer, they are the two remaining founders of JP. Super nice guys. Try listening to Diamonds and Rust which is a cover they did and it is awesome. They are still touring and in the USA now I believe. Andy UK
Turbo Lover is a fun song too. Very different from You've Got Another Thing Comin
I will never forget my 1st experience with Metal. At 14 yrs old I went to a Priest concert in 1982 on their Screaming for Vengeance tour which is the one this song released. The concert started with the sound of a Harley reving up super loud and then Halford riding it onto stage to begin. Been a fan since but that album is still my favorite.
My favorite priest song is beyond the realms of death. You won't be disappointed.
I am not a Judas Priest fan, but this song ROCKS!!!!!!
I was never a Priest fan but I loved metal. Some friends invited me on a van trip down to Portland(Maine) in 1991 for a Priest show. The opening band was Megadeth so I said yes. I have been a huge Judas Priest fan ever since.
I've seen them twice and they were badass! Turbo Lover and Ram It Down! Love them!
When Rob Halford came out it made a lot of super-masculine metalheads rethink what masculinity is and helped take everyone one more step toward excepting others different from themselves. His autobiography "Confess" is amazing.
That's the funny thing about it all now looking back , A lot of us knew he was Gay back then and he had us all wearing leather S&M gear lol , And it was perceived as so macho and tough then and even
now :) .
He’s wearing leather and studs and driving around the stage on a Harley, not exactly effeminate (though totally S&M). Two was where he really laid on the mascara and makeup.
It was so funny like, three or so years ago when the woketards found out 'big bad metalhead' rob halyard was hard leather gay. Then they went all "SEE SEE SEE haa haa haa!" As if they were 'owning' clueless metalheads who were OBVIOUSLY homophobic, of course because DUH. Only for us metalheads to go. "Uh... yea we always KNEW he was gay. Where the fuck you been for goddam 40 years?who cares? He created heavy metal."
He didn't 'come out'. Retarded leftoids finally noticed what we 'super masculine' metalheads knew all along. And the proceeded to crow about it and brag as if they were somehow 'owning' us filthy toxicly male evil metalheads. No metalhead gives a flying fuck he's the hard gay. Be more of a fucking poser.
Lead by Rob Halford on those screeching vocals and Glen Tipton and K.K. Downing changing leads on guitars giving that hard driving sound that is the very heart of HEAVY METAL!
One of THE Royal Bands of Heavy Metal - Without a Doubt!
"Desert plains" is another song by them in the same type of style as this one. They went through many different 'sounds' throughout their career, starting somewhere around 1974.
Painkiller is one of their heaviest songs!
You asked what decade are they from? Almost ALL of them! They've been around and putting out albums forever!!
Love to see you react to Turbo Lover, Touch of Evil, Electric Eye, Breaking the Law, and Living After Midnight!
“Out there is a fortune waiting to be had.
You think I’ll let it go? You’re mad. You got another thing coming.”
Great song for the workout playlist.
the 80's my dear, the 80's! Best music ever, will never come back,
I saw these guys in Atlanta back in the 80’s. I had backstage passes and was back stage talking with members of Dokken. Next thing I know, EVERYONE goes silent. I couldn’t figure out why. Then I see all 5 guys from Judas Priest walking toward the stage. It was honestly like being in the presence of royalty. I’ll never forget how incredible it was.
Priest is one of the greatest bands of all time. "breaking the law" and their cover of "Johnny b Goode" is amazing! there was a big kerfuffle when Rob came out.
There was no "kerfuffle" when Rob came out. Some mild shock or surprise maybe then after thinking about it for just a few minutes most fans just thought, "yeah that actually explains a lot" lol, the leather the studs the whips an chains etc. Really was a non event of an announcement.
Most unsurprising coming out ever. (Also Green Manalishi as my vote for most underrated Priest song.)
@@nollnollett Green Manalishi is one of my favorites too. Are you aware that it's a cover of an old Fleetwood Mac song? Pre Lindsay Buckingham/Stevie Nicks era.
The 80s rocked! Groups really made music and played it HARD!!!
You asked about what time frame Priest was around. They started in the 1970's and are still around today. One of the guitarists left, then the second got Parkinsons, so he is semi-retired. He contributed to the last album that they released in 2018, but didn't tour with the band that year. I saw them on that tour, and Rob Halford is still amazing. He's one of my top two metal voices of all time, and unlike the other, Sebastian Bach, Rob's still got his voice. You should check out "No Surrender" or "Lightning Strikes" off of their last album to see just how much the guys still bring to the table.
Back when this first came out in 1982, I had just started High School. My musical tastes were different then and Judas Priest was to "hardcore" for me. But now I am older, wiser and have experienced so much life and I can really appreciate this awesome band! I guess I had "another thing coming!"
Halford is the #1 METAL SINGER OF ALL TIME for me. So ahead of their time and so many artists used them as inspiration. There are so many songs where he "sings" and his singing voice is gorgeous. Then come the screams! Yeah, baby!
There's a metal documentary called Heavy - The Story Of Metal - 2006. It covers all the way back to early Black Sabbath days, and up to 2006. Rob Halford, Judas Priest singer, talks about when he was a kid in school in England. There was an industrial metal factory next door to the school. He said you could feel the huge hammers pounding the metal, and the smoke and smell of burnt molten metal drifting into the classroom. He said it got into his blood and possessed him to sing in a metal band.
One of the greatest metal bands of all time.
I saw them live last fall. Rob still has that powerhouse voice. Still a fantastic live band.
This is their best song. I suggest give a listen to Living After Midnight. That's a rocking song also.
Judas Priest really was the most popular in the early to mid 80's. Awesome band!
52 years and beyond, long live the metal gods Judas Priest
Great song! Other great songs to come... “Living after midnight”, “Breaking the law”, “ Hell Bent for Leather” and/or “Freewheel Burning”.
Brings me right back to HS and getting pumped up for a football game.
I love it that Amber is getting into this song. "Turbo Lover", "Breaking The Law", "Living After Midnight", "Screaming For Vengeance", and "The Helion/Electric Eye" are other great songs by Priest.
Judas Priest introduced the “look” or “uniform” of heavy metal music. Leather jackets, studs, chains, the works
Victim of change’s.. a must. Congratulations on getting into the rock- n roll hall of fame. Long overdue.
I remember seeing their Turbo tour where Bon Jovi opened for them...Priest owned the stage like no one else could back then
Painkiller was not your best choice. I'd recommend Electric Eye, Living After Midnight, or Hell Bent for Leather before digging into some lesser known gems. Their covers of Joan Baez's Diamonds and Rust or Fleetwood Mac's Green Manalishi with the Two Pronged Crown are both excellent as well.
Painkiller is probably the most reacted to of Priest for some reason, yet it’s nowhere near their best!
KK Downing shredding that guitar 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸. Total Rock God!!!!
It remains incredible how many groups came out of one relatively small section of England. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, ELO, The Move, Judas Priest, Slade, The Moody Blues and others all originate from a continentally tiny region of the English west midlands. It's something, I guess, to be proud of.
Love it! My brother was SUUUCH a Priest fan growing up, so I heard this and so many other songs blasting for years! And to see Amber rocking out to this (and Alice Cooper, who my brother was also a huge fan of-- the other day,) esp. knowing how different her reaction would've been a year ago, and the evolution of her music appreciation, is just one of the coolest things ever!!!
Another uk band that is really good is Saxon, they are somewhat similar to Judas Priest and I would recommend for you guys to listen to "Wheels of Steel" or you could even to one of their newer hits called "Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)". The singer of the band is Biff Byford and he is an amazing singer, even in their newer hit that was released this year he can still hit high vocals.
Great call Saxon have bee around for over 40 years and have nearly 25 studio albums so they have plenty to choose from - I recommend Crusader, Dallas 1pm and Battering Ram and of course Wheels of Steel.
Judas Priest is form the last five decades. They're on their 50th anniversary tour, delayed a couple of years by covid. This is what they really sound like. You'll find the majority of their music is similar to this. Panikiller was an anomaly. That one song is the only time they sound like that. It's like Thunderstruck from AC/DC. It's that song that everyone, outside the fanbase, knows, hears or reacts to. Judas Priest have run the gambit of rock, hard rock and heavy metal over the years. If you want to hear something recent, these guys in their 70s at least the original members, check out Firepower. The title song from their last album.
Judas Priest Are considered The godfathers of heavy metal music. They started in 1969 and are still going today
For the next Judas Priest I'd recommend 'The Hellion/Electric Eye'. And please don't bypass 'Rapid Fire' and 'Metal Gods', meant to be heard back to back.
Hey Amber I would LOVE for you to give Metallica another chance. They did 2 concerts (20 years apart) with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and I really think you would like the combination! Give "No Leaf Clover" a try. As a woman who has listened to metal my whole life, I think we need more women metalheads!!
S&M! Yes! So powerful with the strings. Those are my favorite albums. It's kind of funny that I'm not a huge fan of classical music, but LOVE when they add it to other types of music.
Judas Priest's
Headin out to the Highway
You'll love it!!
It's about time. Halford is my favorite vocalist.
For some more great Judas Priest check out "Livin' After Midnight", "Electric Eye" or "Ride The Wind"
Well it is about time, lol... This is "Priest". Painkiller is not where you should have started.
80’s metal will never be recreated. The vibe of that era was a one off and the music is unique to anything in history.
When you use the term “banger” there isn’t a better example than this right here! YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Judas Priest formed in 1969 and toured a few years before putting out their 1st album ROCKA ROLLA in 1974. I've seen them 7 times, the 1st time being when they opened for Led Zeppelin... 1977, if I remember correctly.
Being going since the 70 s rob Halford has the best voice ....another top metal band from uk 🇬🇧
Theres a bit of Judas Priest for everyone. Their sound changed pretty much from album to album. This album is from the early 80s. I think it was 83. they have been active from the early 70s to now, so there's a lot of variety. Have a listen to this two part song
*Dreamer Deceiver / Deceiver
to hear the best of their talent.
They have about 20 albums so keep searching the Judas Priest archives you will definitely find some sounds that will really blow you away and will be forever addicted to
Just remember I am the one first introduced you to Judas Priest with Victim of Changes in your first month of reactions
those who watched during the golden age of MTV and the 80s metal decade, this song was played nonstop!
The group formed In Birmingham, England in 1969. I have been a fan of theirs since the mid to late 1970's. I got to see them in concert in the late 1980's, Mega Death opened for them! It was a great concert! I think myself and two of my friends were the only ones in the 12,000 seat arena that were dressed in business suits and had short hair!
Judas Priest was a local band in Birmingham, England when guitarist K.K. Downing and bassist Ian Hill joined in 1971... Rob Halford (vocals) joined in 1973 after replacing founding singer Al Atkins... Glenn Tipton (guitar) joined in 1974 as Judas Priest was first getting signed, making them a twin-guitar band. Halford contributed his high-range vocals, and also introduced the band members to S&M leather and studs outfits by 1978. Priest debuted in 1975, but were not initially successful... but were then signed to a US label in 1977... They were an essential band that took heavy metal music into a faster, more elaborate form of music in the late 70's and 80's... Priest and Motorhead were 2 UK bands that inspired a plethora of metal bands like Saxon, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Venom, Death, Pantera, etc... (It was odd that Judas Priest became huge in the 80's, while Motorhead could not score a commercial hit record)
Priest kept touring consistently and finally scored a gold selling record in 1980 w/ their 6th album 'British steel'... This was their 8th album 'Screaming for vengeance', which went platinum (1 million copies sold) in the US (2 million now) and made them one of the world's biggest heavy metal bands in 1982. They were a prominent band selling millions of records in the 80's, but would fall behind in popularity to Iron Maiden, and later Metallica. Still, the voice of Rob Halford... the twin guitar attack of Glenn Tipton & K.K. Downing set a benchmark for excellence in metal music...
Judas Priest will finally be inducted into the Rock n' roll Hall of Fame this year.
Listen to the Priest songs 'Last rose of summer' and 'Angel'... u will be very surprised.
Other Priest songs - 'Breaking the law' ... 'Living after midnight' ... 'Rapid fire' ... 'Electric Eye'... 'Love bites'... 'Heavy metal'... 'Exciter' ... 'Solar angels'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘
My brothers friend was stationed in Germany around 1982 and he brought this album home to my brother who fell in love with this band .He use to blear this song through the house on his 2000 speakers .
Kudos to Judas Priest! They are FINALLY getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year after people rallied for it for years. They deserve it. Rob Halford is one of the greatest Heavy Metal vocalist of all time.
Mötley Crüe deserves to be in the RRHoF but they will NEVER be given the credit they deserve.
Yes he is.
