  • It is with deep sadness
that the latest report from Londolozie today, has confirmed the passing of the young Othawa male lion. His remains have been compared by way of using an id match in confirming this tragic
news. He was just six years old, in his prime, and was the lone dominant male of the Mhangeni pride since 2018.
The Othawa male was a beautiful young king and one of iconic beauty whom has sadly gone too soon. R.I.P beautiful one you will be greatly missed.

@@LG-nh4bs In the world of lions you cannot talk about 'ego', just it cannot be said some lions are 'good', or another are 'bad', or many others are 'fools'. They are no humans, they are animals just following their instincts.
Most lions will always try to expand their territory once they feel that their own is safe. OM just did that. Also combined with the fact that he was a very young lion who had already managed to gain his own pride at an early age, plus he was a lion who never had a serious confrontation with other lions, they were a combined series of factors that led OM to go, that night, further than another lion, perhaps more experienced, had not gone.
Also being a lion who had an unusual nomadic life (very comfortable and risk free), he never really learned how to keep a low profile, something very important in the nomadic stage to be able to survive confrontations with other lions and that is a very important survival factor that most nomadic lions learn.
But 'ego'... what a simplistic adjectival.

This is so heart breaking. Not the news I was expecting to start the day off with. - Just yesterday, upon seeing the Othawa Male’s beautiful picture, (if you looked at every aspect and trait within him) the Othawa male had a deep sense of love, softness and grace within his magnificence.
Sadly, cats will be cats I guess. They will fend for their territory. The “inner child cub” within the Othawa male was curious upon his night’s exploration, which unfortunately cost him his life.
As life is for animals in the wild, when they pass, they aren’t given a “proper” burial (??) or funeral. We can only say good-bye from a distance within our own hearts and minds. I will always remember him upon his last daylight picture, resting in the grass contently.
For all the rangers at Londolozi who got first wind and had to give the news, I’m sure you all shed your own tears when a tragic loss such as this comes about. I don’t believe this is something that you can just say “It is what it is,” even though it is the reality of the bush. (I always tend to wonder if rangers ever have the opportunity to give the “regularly seen” animals names? (other than there territory names).
The earth has lost a magnificent creature that contributed an immense energy and vibration that was sent out into the Universe for which unbeknownst secretly fueled us all. - He had a deep inner sense of Love and gentleness, mixed with determination within him.
St. Francis has taken Othawa home to the Bush at Rainbow Bridge where he can now be safe and free in has gone to his special territory.
Rest in peace Big Boy. You will always be in my thoughts, as you will be kept in the visions of my memories for all that you were.

What a story it would be if jr Othawa and his kin take over the Mangheni pride and spare the newborns and one year old cub. Ginger jrs are two years old and Jr Othawa 3 years. And then there are Young nkuhuma and Styx males they are five and looking for a pride. Then Nwaswishakas another set of 5 and four year olds they have already shown interest in Manghenis but now they now have their own subs to protect with the southern pride and Styx pride. If Avoca's dethrone Birminghams at the heart of the sabisands they will most likely fall back to Manghenis. The problem is young males most likely will kill the offsprings. Only Birminghams if they arrive severely battered from battle with the N Avocas can show some heart to the babies like The two matimbas showed to King Othawa and jr Othawa after their fall back to Othawa pride from the battle with the Avocas with 2018.

There’s no way a big male lion like Othawa will just go down like that without a fight.

My guess would be snake bite or a new coalition of young males in the area. I would go with a black mamba snake bite and if his spine was broken then I would go with a new coalition in the area that the Ross Males will have to deal with.

I feel like crying I am really sad the most beautiful lion passed away. I stated watching the lions because of the Mapogos it was so interesting. I remember I didn’t like the Magingilanes much, because of the way they killed Kinky Tail, but I couldn’t help but too follow their story and what would become of them and the sightings and the story of the Othowa male lion kept coming. I always thought to myself they had Mapogo blood then they would show who the Othowa male lion was after he lost his brothers and sisters he grew up and helped with his younger brothers and sisters. Until he had to leave he helped them hunt and protect the pride. He was in his prime it was some news I didn’t not expect to hear. I though he was the most beautiful lion guess that’s why I though he was som of Golden mane as he grew I though he looked more like him. I found out about the Mapogos in 2012 to 2013 somewhere. So the Mapogos were an interesting story I found about and the Othowa male lion I got to see his story as he grew. Now I hope a miracle happens and some of his cubs make it to adult hood.

Extremely sad, when I heard that he had been killed by the Birmingham males a couple of months ago, it was a very sad day, (don’t get me wrong I have been following the Birmingham males for years as well and I’m glad they can still defend their Territory) but he was the son of the legendary majingulons (and I believe he was the grandson of Makulu Mapogo) and he had a brother when he was young, but that cub didn’t make it, if he would have made it who knows how things would’ve turned out, but besides him the only other male that I know of that carries the majingulons bloodline is the lone salala male, (he had 2 brothers but they were killed when a storm hit Kruger national park and caused Powerlines to fall down, and 2 of the 3 salala males were electrocuted) but since then as far as I know he has formed a coalition with 3 other unknown males, if there is anybody else that you know of any other liens that are the legacy of the majingulons I’d like to know

The Orphen male lions was sad as well seems he was in a similar situation until he found a partner.
