- Two male quartets from Sardinia visited Gooik, Belgium during the traditional music week where we were celebrating the "year of the drone". This style of singing, cantu a tenore, is regarded by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. These young men are carrying on this tradition of their grandfathers, with great passion!
Watching people join in and all dance and sing together almost made me cry.
this even happens on festivals, supermarkets and in the mall, its really amazing
"almost"...? i am bawling, tears are falling... this makes me HAPPY to be a human being, sharing in this expression of community, even though from afar....

Sono olandese e parlo bene l'italiano. Sardo è più o meno imparentato con il latino e l'italiano ma è molto difficile per me rintracciare le parole Sardo. La maggior parte delle parole termina in U e S. Questa esibizione del Cantu tenore è particolarmente riuscita e appartiene ai Beni Culturali della Sardegna: bravi

Vai tranquillo, parlo sardo campidanese e pure per me è tosto distinguere le singole parole nel canto a tenore.
Sai che studi recenti indicano la lingua sarda come antecedente al latino. Se guardi il latino ha più o meno 2500 anni di storia..la lingua sarda già stava nel 2/3000 anni A.C. reperti come i nuraghi 2500 A.C. ecc

The Sherdenu / Sards are a Mediterranean people with curious undiscovered (and overlooked; if I may say) ancient history, Italianised language and unique cuisine (weird biohazard worm cheese), throat singing which appears weird for a warm Mediterranean people considering that throat singing mostly originates in cold Northern peoples such as Turks, Mongols, Tuvans and Inuits…. The people look a bit North African or Semitic like they could almost qualify as Greek or Eastern Mediterranean e.g. Phoenician. Dances also reminiscent of warm, familial Levantine custom
It's not "worm cheese". It's "maggot cheese". Second of all, I live in Athens, and Greeks and Turks don't look like Sardinians and viceversa.
