  • Taped at the NWA LEGENDS FANFEST (www.nwalegends.com) by the great videographer MARTI FUNK (www.doryfunk.com). This is the first time (according to Mr. Wrestling II) he has appeared on a video interview without the II mask since he adopted the II persona!

I was a huge Mr. Wrestling 2 fan and for the record I still am. There was nothing like being in the omni in atlanta and hearing thousands of fans chanting 2 2 2 2. It was incredible. I have one of his original mask and I treasured it for years. Now my son has it and he will pass it on to his son. Thank you wrestling 2 for all the great matches and memories that all your fans remember and treasure. We love you and pray Gods blessing on your life.

Wrestling II one of the all time greats. He is a stand up human being- very respectful. He wrestled during an era when wrestling was still seen as real and there was an aura of mystery about it. The mask was different on II because most of the masked wrestlers back then were heels. II got alot of respect from the wrestlers in the back and the fans. Finished #2 most popular in 1983 fans rating behind tommy rich.Much respect to Tim Woods (Mr. Wrestling) as well- "The Man Who Saved Wrestling."

I'm thinking around 1982 at the Myriad Arena here in Oklahoma City. The Mid-South days (before he turned heel on Magnum TA). In fact, it was the same card that had Stagger Lee/JYD there and slammed Kamala. That was the main event and everyone lost their s**t. Wow.

Back in the winter of 1973 74 was a great angle on the feud he had with his partner Tim Woods. Mister Wrestling 2 had turned heel for a a few months.
In a match in Atlanta at the old Atlanta City Auditorium I remember Ron Fuller had 2 up in the air ready to slam him. Wrestling II was in dire straights and pulled brass knucks out of his diaper( he always looked like he was wearing a diaper)LOL to bop Ron Fuller on the forehead and pin him. He was probably the shortest lived North American heavyweight champion. Tim Woods ran down and exposed the brass knuckles to the ref who reversed his decision . So that culminated the next week in the Omni Arena in Atlanta where they had a main event a hair vs mask match LOL no pun intended! Gordon Solie was the guest ring announcer for the match. It was guaranteed mask or hair removed! Tim had his personal barber Mister Fred Allen in attendance to shave his head a head shave in case he lost Since it was no disqualification Mr Wrestling II was able to use the brass knuckles to open up a real nasty wound around one of Tim's eyes. So the referee thought he better stop the match. True to his word and bloodied but not bowed Tim took the microphone addressed the fans
. His shiny black hair had kind of a bob cut so many of his fans anguished he's about to get his head shaved. But I still remember to this day he got down on his knees and rested his hands on his thighs I couldn't see much from the cheap seats lol but in a matter of seconds he was bald you can see the hair dropping to the mat.

Grew up in Atlanta in 60's,70's, 80's.II was my HERO! A true legend and always an honorable man. You can still see his old persona when he leans toward the camera, raises his voice and declaims about the sorry state of pro wrestling today: "We were athletes, some of these guys couldn't pick my toenails!"

As over in Georgia as anyone at any time. Pretty amazing when you consider here was a masked babyface who did not do the typical "polite" 'face interviews. Hats off to Mr. Walker.
