I enjoyed the your personal list I found a few new titles. Added dice throne for my wishlist but I want heat medal to the pedal first. Unfortunately getting the games I want where I live is complicated hehe.

Yeah, love the game (one of my favorite games I've ever played) but can't find anyone to play with and I just don't enjoy it by myself.

Great video! Flamecraft is such a fun game. Root is one I have had on my list for awhile along with the solo expansion so I could actually get it to the table more often.
I love that with Flamecraft you can have so many people play and the game is still really enjoyable! Root is such a fun game and I highly recommend it! ;)
I don't really recommend the solo expansion, it's not the same as with other players. If you want to play alone, I'd suggest buying the digital version and playing online.

Just discovered your channel. You did a great job and have a great list. I never heard of Trolls and Princesses... might have to check it out. I never tried iCastles of Burgundy until thr Special Edition and now I just love it!
I'm the exact same way! We had Castles of Burgundy (the anniversary edition) sitting on our shelf for almost two years and only played it for the first time after we'd already purchased the special edition and I've been kicking myself for not getting it out sooner! My copy of CoB Special Edition came with one corner of the box and cover torn as well!! I share your pain.. but the game is an all time great.
We're going to have to start calling it the curse of the castle, because I've heard of a ton of other people having the same issue!

LOVE all the Root love! Did you make your meeple decorations yourself? I’ve been on the hunt for a little Alliance toast for my desk, but haven’t had any luck finding them!
Yes I did! Thingiverse has some files for meeples if you 3d print stuff and I just made them a lot bigger!

One of the most challenging things with love of heavy boardgames is finding people to play it with.
And those who are willing to play it also play video games and sometimes they'd rather stay home and play a video game because it's just more convenient and same level of fun (for them).
Yes I totally agree!
Root is my all-time favorite game, but it took some years until I was able to play it regularly, but now I have a bunch of friends who love it (and a bunch who can't stand it, ha), so I play it once a month in person and usually enjoy a few async games per month on the digital version too.

Dice throne is so much fun!! 2v2 is also awesome (our solution was shared lifepoints between teammates)
The artwork in previous editions of castles of burgundy really has been a massive drawback for me. Just looking at the special edition makes it more appealing, looks way better.
I agree! I know games can be great even if the artwork isn't, but if a game is visually appealing I am 10x more likely to get it to the table!
I like the muted colors of the original ( though new looks better) Merchant Explorers on this list has been criticized for a similar saturation, but I think it looks lovely.
Agreed, I got the normal edition and the main board is so busy I really actually barely play it.
I have the previus edition, and I love it. The art of the new edition is awesome but is to expensive.
I have the exact same problem with Root-it’s my FAVORITE board game but nobody ever wants to learn how because they’re so intimidated!
I ended up selling the game for this reason. Obviously if it's one of your favourites, I can understand keeping it around though for those special plays.

Also, you forgot to mention Dice Throne has an Adventure box and a Marvel box, with X-men coming soon! Dice Throne is great!

I was lucky with Root, I fell in love with it and every single group I play with fell in love with it as well. I think it all depends on how you present the game initially and how you teach it.

I love Root, I have the same Castle 3d printed and I was looking with curiosity at the giant meeples you have on the shelves
Recently I printed and painted 1 miniature for each faction and use them as point trackers (I use Dick's Poelen designs, they are beautiful, there is even a thread on the BGG about them)
I'm going to have to take a look at those designs for sure now! And I printed the giant meeples by making blowing up a small one from thingiverse!

Great top 10 I am waiting for Flamecraft to arrive with series 2 upgrades so excited as I love cosy games, one of our favourites is creature comforts for a ‘lullaby game’ we also love Honey Buzz I am waiting for the expansions. I see Paint The Roses in the background trying so hard to find this in deluxe in the UK really want it, would you recommend?? Another game I have just ordered with 3 expansions is Aqua Garden hopefully another cute cosy lullaby game! Thanks for your top 10, new subscriber here!!
I want Aqua Garden so badly I can't stand it, but we can't seem to get a copy here in the US! You'll have to let me know if you enjoy it or not! And as for Paint the Roses--I hate to admit it, but I haven't played it quite yet so I can't say much about it. I'm planning on playing it soon though and then I can let you know my thoughts!
Root is my favorite board game too! Fortunately I have a playing group exclusively for Root (today we played twice). I hope you find people addicted to Root so you can enjoy it even more 😊

Awesome vid! Have you ever tried Everdell? Ive seen comparisons to Root? (which ive never played myself) Im curious to see your take on it! Everdell also has the same problem where no one wants to play, due to complexity/dificulty/yadda yadda but thankfully there is a single player mode, so one can game on!
Everdell was probably my biggest gateway game and I love it! That being said, I don't think it's really anything like root, but I see the comparison in trying to get it to the table. I haven't actually played the solo version, so I'll have to give that a go! :)

Great list, lovely decorations! I'm a bit more interested in Heat, my only concern is that people who own it never really say that they play it too often. Which ones would you say are your most played game of all time? I would love to see a video about that too.
We actually play Heat the most as of right now, alongside Castles of Burgundy. Our most played game overall, however, is one that didn't even make it on my favorites list (it's one of my mom's favorite games, so we play it almost every time we see her) and that's Bunny Kingdom!

Thank you so much! Yeah, I just use box lights on either side of my table, angled toward me at 45 degrees. Other than that, it’s just my candle warming lamp behind me from Amazon and a custom neon light from Etsy. :)

Brian Boru is a fantastic game. Great list overall.
The only one I haven't played is your #1. I fear Root wouldn't hit the table often enough, so I never dared venture into its waters.
I know so many people who feel the same way about root, and I honestly can’t blame them. I feel like it’s a game that you have to decide well in advance whether you’re going to play or not. And it’s not like there aren’t other games you can’t play instead to fill up your time! :)

You have great taste in games. Castles of Burgundy is definitely in my top 3 and I own Root on PC & Android, but can’t really purchase for my physical collection because I just don’t know anyone who likes it. I will give Heat a try on Board Game Arena.

Cool to see Trolls and Princesses on someone's list! I purchased the game based on the theme but have not gotten it to the table. How is the player interaction? I tend to prefer my Euros highly interactive/mean
If the other players are placing their meeples in the center of the board, there can be some interaction! It's not over the top, but it is there!
The Guild of Merchant Explorers is on my list for maybe purchase 🙂 I got Brian Boru though.

Brian Boru is awesome. You should also look into Hansa Teutonica, Alien Frontiers, and Las Vegas royale. I think you'd love them.

If you guys like the base game of HEAT then I strongly recommend you do the drafting module to add the asymmetric cards.
For me, it made the game feel so much more thrilling as it added that anticipation that maybe if I didn’t feel like I was getting the right cards or making the best choices then maybe my personal “secret ability” would make the difference 🏆
We LOVE the additional drafting portion of the game, it makes the play so much more fun while keeping the integrity of the overall theme nicely!

I'm kind of basic, and I love the Eyrie faction. I haven't played the otter faction or the rat faction yet, though and I think I'd really like them as well!

My mom owns Puerto Rico and we used to love playing it when I lived there. Terraforming mars is another favorite in our collection as well! The other games I haven't had a chance to play, but I will add them to my list!
very nice list and presentation! Have you played Search for Lost Species? I didn't care that much for Search for Planet X but the Lost Species somehow clicked. P.s. for a regular gamer like me the listing of the publishing company when presenting every game adds absolutely no value, whereas perhaps naming the designer might add a bit. Or just leaving also that out, everyone interested can find those out.

Root is awesome indeed! Seems like I‘m quite lucky that my friends love it aswell, I‘ve played it on the app a lot of times but would Never prefer it over bringing it to the table. There is just too much fun in pushing your cute meeples around the map and bring mayhem to the clearings of your friends 🎉. But i overplayed the lake map a Bit. It feels a Little Bit Too constrained for me and my friends. What i Would Like to See for this Game is a new map pack ( Or just a visual change to the Fall and Winter Maps, they both look a Little ugly in comparison)

Root hooked me too back then. Can´t tell you how much fun this is to explore. But yeah it requires some commitment and thats rare sadly.
I know, I wish it were easier to table and teach, but at the same time, I wouldn't want anything in the game adjusted either!

Root is one of my favorite games as well, I have the same problem of finding others to sit down and play this game. I guess it’s a love it or hate it game.

in my opinion, a game thats nearly impossible to table is a badly designed game.
It’s a wonderful game, it has more to do with my wife and others not liking asymmetrical style games. But there is some truth to your statement
I bought root and an expansion, but yes it’s a very intimating game
