    One thing I can tell ya is that living in Southern California (LA/Orange County) I have to suffer all the streets being laid out pretty much in a 90 deg grid with stop lights every 1/2 mile. I ride light to light and the FuelX has made a tremendous difference in the low-mid range performance. Like you said the throttle roll ons are soooo much smoother. My real problem is that to get to the nice roads you have to get on the freeways and maintain at least 65 mph. The piggy back seems to help up there as well but I am going to give Hitchcock's cam a whirl. It dynos at 20.6 hp rear wheel which is a 24% increase from the stock 15.5. Still won't bust the 72 mph speed limiter but should make it alot easier to stay up there. I envy y'all in Great Britain with all those beautiful winding lanes 😍

      Get a larger front sprocket in order to avoid redlining the engine. With additional power that comes with a new cam, you would be able to sustain 65mph or higher in short bursts.

    • @GrampsD63
      @GrampsD63 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@Coastriderscotland So I got my cam just before Christmas. What a massive difference. Definately a mid- to upper end cam. It pulls pretty solid 3rd gear over 60mph now. Freeways are a breeze. Didn't change the front sprocket though. I found it more manageable at speed because you still have acceleration and I like acceleration. Not sure everyone else's take in it but as a performance guy I would highly recmend it. Just make the engine more like what it should be, not so anemic with all the Euro 5 garbage.

    Great ride along, your love for this little gem of a bike is quite infectious. Nice refreshing change to ride along with someone who loves their bike, in this day and age it seems to be a rare thing for one to be happy with what you have. I did sit on the Classic 350 at a local dealer they are such a lovely design I see why they are very popular, factor in the excellent price Royal Enfield have certainly read the market well. I met a few folks who instead of spending 15k plus on a very modern, heavy motorbike they had opted to buy a couple of Royal Enfield instead and still have money left over to add a few extras to their new rides. Thanks for posting.

    Couldn’t agree more, the fuelx definitely smooths out the otherwise snappy throttle on off, especially from cold. Running a tad richer hasn’t affected mpg at all, and the bike definitely feels happier. I agree with you, I absolutely love this bike, the only other bike that came close was my 1982 XT500.

    Good to hear your verdict on the fuel-x as modern bikes seem to be set up to run lean+hot for the emissions regs.
    Definitely would not want an air-cooled bike to run hotter than it has to if you care about its longevity.
    It will be interesting to know what your final mileage is for the tyres. Back in the late 80s I had a CZ that had similar looking Barum tyres. If I could get those Barums now I would gladly fit them to my bike as they were virtually indestructible and yet had enough grip for normal riding.

    • @Coastriderscotland
      @Coastriderscotland  Před rokem +1

      I think the fuel X is worth it if as you say the motor does not run as lean or hot, I’m at 5/500 miles on the rear tyre and it’s a bit flat now but loads of legal tread left, be good for at least another 1000 miles 😁👍

New one may or may not be correct? Says it tops out now at 78 mph. I have had no problems with acceleration or engine idle. I used Super unleaded gas ⛽️ here in Dallas TX. Mostly flat at Sea level yet it'll still bog down on hills. Trying to install an electric leaf blower and ram air straight into air box. 😅

    After about 3/4 of an hour if riding bike will suddenly start jerking /missing for a couple of seconds then might be fine for the rest of the ride or do it again later on.

      Hi, I have not heard of anyone having this issue on a J series motor in any of the 3 bike options,
      Have you done an ECU reset?, it my work?, you start the bike from cold and let it idle 30 minutes not touching the throttle, and the ECU programmes as the engine temperature rises, the procedure is on the Royal Enfield online service manual - Tiger Ness recently showed this on a recent film on his Classic 350,
      Other thing maybe the excess grease in the relay connectors? I degreased mine using WD40, and since doing over 5000 miles ago have not had a single issue with lights coming on etc,
      Both things free to do just take a bit time so maybe worth doing?
