I love this concept Andrew. Fantastic. We all have our lists but I’ve never crunched them all together as you do here, and with such diligence, insight and love. Peace.
"It's their own fault for being too good and making too many fantastic albums." Applauding you Andrew! Amazing accomplishment and for the most part, I am in agreement with the rankings. 🙂
Many thanks for all of your hard work on this Andrew - you have provided many hours of entertainment and education; this in spite of many errors of judgement regarding which album ranks where 😉. Seriously though, a big well done!
Was looking forward to this one, and you didn't disappoint...thank you for the work you have put into this. Even if people don't agree with your final selections..it gives everyone a starting point for there own lists. And of course the name of all the albums for those pursuing the different beatle albums and solo albums! You done the work for all of us so thank you Andrew much appreciated.
Wonderful ... but so sad it's over. PLEASE can your next mini-series be a countdown of your favourite SONGS (solo and group)? Fingers crossed for that. 🤞
Maybe just do a 20 track best of John, best of Paul etc and then slot them all in - that way you will still have time to have an actual life away from CZcams as we know how much time and effort you put into your excellent videos.
Hi Andrew, Just watched the final episode in the rankings videos, what an effort, so well done, it's been great entertainment. Just one small criticism....you should have included Live at the Hollywood Bowl as it is an official Beatles album, so a bit unfair to miss it out, especially as live albums were included in the solo rankings, but seriously, thankyou for doing this , and keep up the fantastic work. Steve.
Wow….What an effort! Hats off Andrew! I can’t really disagree (much) with your rankings. (Not that that matters anyway, it’s just great to hear you chatting about them). Great series, which has made me go and dig out some rarely played albums for an appraisal or reappraisal 😊
Thank you very much for this whole series. What a huge amount of work! You activated my own thinking about the band albums and solo albums and their rankings. And most important of all I put on some CDs, that I hadn’t listened to for a longer time. So thanks for reminding me on some hidden gems on my shelf and enjoying them again 😄👍🏻
the beauty of the beatles, everyone's got their own rankings and all of em are understandable. 5 albums into this video and i can tell you that my ranking would be quite different. let's see how the rest of the show goes.
It's been a journey, Andrew, and I've enjoyed following along every minute! Like you, my estimation of Let It Be has certainly gone up in recent years due to the box set and the Get Back documentary. But what really put it up there for me was Paul "reuniting" with John on I've Got a Feeling on the Got Back tour and at Glastonbury. It's a testament to the phenomenal, ageless chemistry John and Paul had, and the Let It Be album is steeped in it. And FWIW, I love Hold Me Tight! It's an absolute all-out rocker that threatens to burst apart at the seams at any moment, but the Beatles hold it all together through sheer will and talent.
Fantastic video, I can tell you put a lot of thought and time into this! Could not have been easy. Can’t argue with any of it except Magical Mystery Tour, great songs on that album and I really enjoy (personal opinion, like yours is as well). Glad Wings Over America made top 20. I’m partial to that one because I was at the first show of the tour in Fort Worth, Texas. Plus it’s a really enjoyable listen. Great job, Andrew!
Hi mate, A hell of a job. And a very nice series. Beatles For Sale, in my humble opinion, is a very underrated Beatles album. It has a special place in my heart. Beatles For Sale was the album that got me into The Beatles. Take care.
What a daunting task, but I'm grateful you tackled it. I might have to take it on myself. It's almost impossible to keep most of the Beatles albums out of the top 15. The best thing about it, you get to listen to all this great music again. Great job Andrew!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Superb Ranking Andrew 👍 This was as exciting as a World Cup final!!! -May Not agree with a couple of your rankings, nonetheless really enjoyed this series -I Thank you for this great entertainment, Cheers 🍺
- Revolver - Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles “White Album” - Abbey Road - John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band - Imagine - Ram - Band On The Run - Walls and Bridges
Andrew, you're the fifth Beatle !!! Maybe I could change a few positions as everybody, but I loved these series and I think it's the best Beatles ranking ever. Congratulations and thanks from Uruguay.
Well done Andrew a mammoth task I’m sure and for the most part I agree with you 🎉. Your knowledge and dedication to all things Beatles related is amazing … keep up the good work . Revolver is such a great album 😄 i for one will be interested in hearing your comments about it. 📀💿 . Thanks for giving us subscribers a voice 👍
I always look forward in watching your latest rankings of The Beatles (or their solo projects) album/ song rankings. Your reviews of the latest cd/LP releases are a great help and an excellent guide. I also love those uncommon Beatles trivia/facts that I got to know only now from you. Thank you for all the past videos and thank you in advance for all your future enjoyable videos.
That ranking list is MONUMENTAL Andrew. And you know what? I completely agree with your list. Obviously if I did this to this depth myself there would be done differences but on the whole I cannot argue with your list AT ALL. And I think you're so right about plastic Ono band and the things around the top ten like flaming pie. Very very well done mate
well done andrew . not much arguements from me re the top ofthe list but how postcards from paradise is better than any harrison album i'll never know lol
That was a sterling effort, man. And, for what it's worth, I heartily agree with most of your decisions. I also respect the love for the underrated 'Beatles For Sale,' although I'd have put it slightly above the more popular 'With The Beatles.' I also respect the love for 'Flaming Pie,' which had been his best collection of songs for almost twenty years. Now have a well-deserved lie down . . .
Here’s to Let it Be getting some respect 🥂. It’s a great album, one of my favorites so ty ! For my enjoyment list, I still have to make Ram number 1. All the songs rock.

Rubber Soul (10/10) 2. The Beatles (White Album) (10/10) 1. Abbey Road (10/10) Beatles only would be: 13. Yellow Submarine (7.5/10) 12. Beatles For Sale (8/10) 11. With The Beatles (8/10) 10. Let It Be (8/10) 9. Please Please Me (8.5/10) 8. A Hard Day's Night (9/10) 7. Help! (9/10) 6. Magical Mystery Tour (9.5/10) 5. Rubber Soul (10/10) 4. Revolver (10/10) 3. Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band (10/10) 2. The Beatles (White Album) (10/10) 1. Abbey Road (10/10)
Nice ranking, Ricardo. One particular area in which I agree with you is that, regardless of where you rank "All Things Must Pass" - and it clearly deserves to be in the Top 10 - in my opinion it is the greatest of all the Beatles solo albums.
Watched it and I'm so impressed with your methodical approach. I love list-making too and the pleasure of watching your effort was enormous. An interesting thought about the vocal harmonies on Beatles For Sale. Vocal harmonies have always been my favourite aspect of rock music and I love analysing them. Definitely the arrangements of the harmonies on that album are really inventive and surpassing the Merseybeat average, but did you notice how George's voice is missing there? Yes, he only sings backing vocals on What Youre Doing and Hey Hey Hey Hey (the response vocals feature the only three-part harmony on this album!) plus obviously the lead on the album closer. My Beatles ranking: 1-2. Revolver 1-2. Abbey Road (the winner changes from day to day - "Revolver" was also the first cassette I bought in 1988) 3. Magical Mystery Tour 4. White Album 5. Rubber Soul 6. Sgt. Pepper 7. Beatles For Sale 8. With the Beatles 9. Help! 10. Yellow Submarine (I know (I know)...) 11. Please Please Me 12. A Hard Day's Night (the only Beatles album I find overrated) 13. Let It Be (the only Beatles album I can say I partially dislike, though it was great to see the love for One After 909 in your video) It was also most interesting to see how particular solo albums dented into your Beatles ranking. My favourite solo album will probably be Chaos & Creation, but I would put it as - relatively - low as #7, that's how strong my Beatles Top6 is. As I mentioned in the other comment, The Beatles were my first musical love. I don't think there is any other group I would have such detailed knowledge of the songs and facts. Still, at the age of 48 I find myself drifting further and further from their music. Last year I compiled a list of My 100 Favourite Songs (it's one of the playlists on my channel). The following Beatles & solo tracks made it: #98. Long-Haired Lady #91. At the Mercy (or some other track from Chaos, I compiled the list with albums in mind too) #53. And Your Bird Can Sing #36. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey #11. Help! (live version) #10. the Abbey Road medley This was a list with strong personal theme, not necessarily reflecting my rank of individual Beatles songs (of which She Said She Said would definitely beat And Your Bird Can Sing), but these lists change so fast, which is another excuse to make another one :) Gerard
Bravo Andrew, what a incredible ranking that was, so fun to watch or should I say so enjoyable to watch! You have certainly outdone yourself with this one. I agree for the most part how it ended up. Take care and take some time off to rest up for Revolver!!
My Dad had bought Revolver and I remember looking at the cover as a little boy and wondering what kind of music could possibly be inside a cover that different and amazing. It didn’t disappoint.
To quote many a reality or "talent" tv show, this has been a journey! Really interesting stuff. For what it's worth: 13 Yellow Submarine 12 With The Beatles 11 Please Please Me 10 Beatles For Sale 9 Let It Be 8 Help! 7 A Hard Day's Night (Let It Be Naked) 6 Rubber Soul 5 Magical Mystery Tour 4 The Beatles/ White Album 3 Revolver 2 Sgt Peppers 1 Abbey Road (The perfect and best album... EVER) Would be interested to see where Let It Be Naked would be in your list and how other classic albums would be placed ie The Bends, Hounds Of Love, Stone Roses debut, Dark Side Of The Moon, Pet Sounds etc
Wow, what a task! I more or less agree with all your Beatles album rankings, apart from the order of the top 4. I would have 1.Revolver 2 Abbey Road 3 White Album 4 Sgt Pepper. I'm glad to see you've restored Let It Be to a reasonably high ranking, as it's been unfairly maligned over the years. The solo rankings seem fair too.
Hi Andrew .. hope you had a Merry Christmas! Good video but I was shocked that you bought your first Beatle album in in 1989 !! My hat’s off to you on such extensive expertise despite being such a “youngster” .. 😜👍
I always enjoy watching your videos and listening to your views Andrew and I have enjoyed this one. For me ranking The Beatles albums is an impossible task as each album was a step forwards up till Revolver and even then each album was different from the last. It's incredible to think any band could record an album like Please Please Me then 6 years later Abbey Road. What a fantastic achievement! As for comparing albums by any band or artist from the 60's with their 70's output, it simply can't be done in my opinion unless you are just talking about songs. I could go on and on with this subject and it would be pointless as we all have our own views. Well done for completing this task Andrew and I look forward to your future videos.
That was an awesome mammoth task Andrew. Thank you. Really enjoyed it all. I completely identified with the various dilemmas you encountered. You should now do a poll asking your followers to do their own “enjoyment” ranking (top 20 only maybe) to see whether you are in line with everyone else or just some crazy mad Beatles fan out there all alone floating around in your own universe!! 😅😊😂❤
Bravo Andrew! Thank you for all your time and efforts in putting this multi-month project together. The Grand Finale certainly beats out The Game Of Thrones season 8 finale. There were gasps of exasperation! Hoots of 'Scandal!' and cries of 'Blasphemy!' But in the end a well-enjoyed series of videos. Made my Sunday night.
Oh yeah, I disagree on some, but you’re SPOT ON that it’s the enjoyment factor. That’s for all your loving hard work. The solo albums have no context without the Beatles unless you look through the lens of enjo
Very awesome and impressive list. You’re a better man than me being able to put this together. I could never do it. My one complaint is However. Since you included the live albums of the solo career Beatles, why not include Live at the BBC, On Air Live at the BBC Vol 2, and Live at the Hollywood Bowl for the Beatles? Just three more to throw in. Plus all the unique material on the BBC albums not included on the studio albums. I’d be interested where these fall on your list.
Yes, and the Anthology discs as well. And Yellow Submarine Songtrack. It like an odd bit of trivia, but The Beatles released as many songs in the 1990s as they did in the 1960s.
That was an amazing task! Incredibly well done. I really agree with the enjoyment factor being the key. No argument here! Look forward to your next videos. Cheers!
A monumental mammoth task you t👀k on here Andrew and you have done it with such enthusiasm and vigour......if MBE's and knighth👀ds were dished out for enthusiasm on CZcams then there would be no other challenger to you for the number one spot in my opinion.......All the best for your next series of videos but in the meantime take a well deserved rest and have a few pints of Guinness.......Well done 🍷🍷👍👌
A great analysis of the 13 Beatles albums.and why you placed them in their respective positions individually and within the overall list.We could argue the toss on a few spots here and there but all said and done a great list and fantastic effort really enjoyed following the whole series.
Entertaining to watch the whole ranking series from start to finish. Great work! I would love to see a separate ranking of the Beatles singles. So many people rank the albums on CZcams, but I've seen very few rank the singles... which is a little sad, because the singles were such a huge part of their legacy. You could just stick to the 22 original UK singles from 1962-1970. Or you could expand into the post-breakup and solo singles too, though it might be best to have a cutoff at the end of the 70s or 80s, since singles weren't as critical once CDs took over.
Off the top of my head: 1. White album 2. Revolver 3. Rubber Soul 4. Ram 5. McCartney 6. Abbey Road 7. Magical Mystery Tour 8. Sgt Pepper 9. Tug of War 10. Imagine 11. Beatles for Sale 12. Egypt Station 13. Memory Almost Full 14. Hard days Night 15. Help 16. Band on the run 17. Plastic Ono Band 18. Flaming Pie 19. Esher Demos 20. All things must pass
Great job Andrew! I enjoyed this series very much! I agree with you that many of the best solo albums do indeed match the greatness of a Beatles album so it was great to see some of your solo rankings still managed to maintain good spots. I have to say, all I kept thinking about in the video was that "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player" was on your feature shelf. Do we have an Elton ranking list coming soon?
@@AndrewDixonMusic there is another channel here called Giggens . He is the American version of you doing Beach Boys ! He does similar BB rankings . Great channel you Should check out. A genuine nice guy like you who does it with both passion and humor .. like you 😀
Interesting to note that 'Rubber Soul' is known to have greatly influenced Brian Wilson's 'Pet Sounds'. However, it recently dawned on me that the version of 'Rubber Soul' that Wilson was listening to was the U.S. Capitol version of 'Rubber Soul' which has a different track listing than the one we're used to in the UK. The US version is a little more ballardy than the UK. Worth a listen.
Congratulations surely are in order for reaching the grand finale' of this comprehensive ranking! I would struggle to complete any one of these five lists, much less putting them all together into one huge ranked list!! It's been a treat watching!
Thanks for these videos, I've really enjoyed watching them. Is there somewhere I can view your full list without having to look at the videos? A Google Sheet or Excel file, perhaps? Apologies if you've already mentioned this
@@AndrewDixonMusic Thanks Andrew - I have made a copy of your list as a Google Doc, would you like to share it with your CZcams viewers? I can share a link but will only do so if you're happy
Borderline genius? Borderline genius??? This is no time to equivocate, Andrew - no time for British reserve! No time to damn with faint praise. Go on then, I'll say it: SPLHCB is sheer bloody genius. Great, passionate video, loved it! And my smile muscles haven't had such a great workout for ages 😄💕🌎🌠🌈🎶🕉☮☯
Agree on Pepper being number 1. I'd have Ram at number 2. I'm not such a ATMP fan due mostly to how many skips I do on that album. It's not even my top 5 George album. I do think some of those other George albums are a bit low for me. But all different tastes. My biggest hot take though would probably be Egypt Station. That's top 10 for me out of all albums. I think its a phenomenal record. And Brainwashed would be high also for me. Really enjoyed your video
Brilliant Andrew , Congratulations, really enjoyable watch . Surprised me at the end not placing Abbey Road as Number 1 but respect your view. Look forward to your next venture.
Well done! Big Effort and loved your comments and style. Only a few differences (manily Ringo and some of Paul). Where would you rank Past Masters 1 and 2 in this list? And also Hollywood Bowl Live album (not to mention the anthology albums and one of my favortite LOVE ablum - I know it a a mix ablum, but a great one!)? WOW, 110 (+these and the the live albums and greatest hits) albums by 4 people - has anyone done better!
Andrew, The Beatles Historian Mark Lewisohn was talking about their first 4 albums and he said he played the first 3 a lot. The 4th not so much. But over the years Beatles For Sale has grown on him more and more. So these day's if he decides to play one of the early ones. More often than not it will be Beatles for Sale. He said he's sad that it a does'nt get the respect it deserves because it's just a great record. "It's a great time capsule, from covers from their Hamburg day's right upto new songs for the L.P." Cheers, Chris Perry.
Dark Horse 94 and Mind Games 63??? Harsh! Sometime in NYC 37 is a load of tripe. I’d place it as my worst Beatles solo album. Great effort though in pulling this together Andrew!
10- Red Rose Speedway (the 2 vinyl version with 1882) 9- Living in the miracle world 8- Sgt Pepper 7- Imagine 6- Revolver 5- Ram (the 2 vinyl version with singles) 4- Plastic Ono band 3- All things must pass 2- Abbey Road 1- White Album (especially the vinyl version with the full Esher demos)
First up I have joined this ranking party right at the end. So may I commend you on such a brave undertaking and of course these things are entirely subjective.Yes there are things I disagree with (hold me tight, not a second time) and plenty to concur with of course. So rather than be just positive I thought I should be super positive and really focus in on your assessment of The Beatles (the White album). We differ here only in so much as not only is the White album my favourite Beatles record but possibly for me the greatest album ever made sharing a pedestal with such works as Exile on Main Street and Blonde on Blonde. This probably reveals my obsession with the double album as a perfect space for an artist to let go and unleash every facet of their musical identity in one place. Of course I’m always half expecting people to start banging on about what a great single album this would have made! Not a single second is wasted on this record, a work of the most towering genius. Your own comment regarding the desert island aligns with my view that I have always held that the White album is a compilation of musical styles. Finally may I zoom in on something you said that I’ve only ever heard myself thinking or saying. This being the darkness, incredible spooky darkness of side 4. I think of double albums in much the way a gardener thinks when designing a garden, they build rooms. And for me the perfect double album usually consists of four rooms which the White album completely adheres to. This darkness just progresses and grows on side 4 into a work of sheer beautiful sequencing genius. To such a point that my 13-year-old self whom perceived Good Night as a final lightening of mood I am now at odds with. Meaning is in the mind of the listener and over the years I have come to perceive Good Night following on as it does from the nightmarish musique concrete genius of Revolution 9 as a Victorianesque tune about dying children or adults. This of course was not what Lennon had in mind when he wrote it (yes it’s a give-it-to-Ringo childrens lullaby) but perfectly demonstrates how context can alter mood and perception. Congratulations on this rather tough and perhaps, dare I say, foolish undertaking😂, I honestly think I would be stuck from number two onwards in terms of trying to order these revolutionary works. Finally I also concur with you that Plastic Ono Band, Ram and All Things Must Pass are these artists greatest works, the latter being for me the greatest Beatles solo album.
I must say though that your method of going through chronologically then slotting each one in is not something I’d ever thought of so I might give it a go
I really share your passion here Andrew. Can't get enough of the Beatles. Surprised where you put Abbey Road in your Beatles ranking, but otherwise my ranking would be very similar. Thank you again.
Fun video series, hats off to you for compiling it. But I think you shortchanged a few of George’s better solo albums. Material World and Cloud Nine in particular. Your love of solo Paul is fine with me, but how can Wild Life top Cloud Nine? And Concert for Bangladesh ranks well below several Macca B-tier live sets? Oh well at least one George album got its due!
Hi Andrew Just for fun and out of curiosity I wonder where you would have tanked: "Yellow Submarine Songtrack" or "Get Back" had it been issued originally as it appeared on the LET IT BE boxset.
Enjoyed the video. Many thanks. Do you have a favourite Beatles era? In other words: Do you prefer (what I call) The Beat Years, The Greatest Songwriters Emergence, The Psychedelic Innovators Era, or the Seasoned Rockers period?
That was a fun list. Quite the project. I question any solo Beatle album ranking over Magical Mystery Tour. Do the songs on McCartney really outshine MMT? You rank John's solo career way higher than I do. I certainly agree with your points about Plastic On Band. It's a great artistic statement, but not always an enjoyable listen. I bought the deluxe box set of it and I have to admit that I still haven't listened to all of it. It started to depress me and I shelved it. For me McCartney has had the best post Beatles career by a country mile.
@@AndrewDixonMusic It’s been a fantastically thoughtful and entertaining series. Really turned me on to a lot of albums I haven’t really given a chance before
And just for fun, here's my top-ten. I don't have your patience to do them all! 10: Double Fantasy 9: Imagine 8: Ram 7: The White Album 6: Rubber Soul 5: All Things Must Pass 4: Band on the Run 3: Sgt Pepper 2: Abbey Road 1: Revolver
What a great list - I agree that many of the Beatles solo albums stand shoulder to shoulder with the Beatles canon. I would personally place MMT higher purely for Strawberry fields and penny lane. But this list is stellar!!!
Hey Andrew , Great series , Great placings .. The only thing is, think the RINGO albums deserves a higher placing. I would fit it somewhere in the top 15. I have always thought it was a top rank solo Beatle album. Take Care. Go and listen to RINGO again , you will be glad you did . Ha Ha Ha..
Anyone can have their own favourites, of course, but I think it's generally accepted that the best Beatles and Beatle solo albums are: Abbey Road Plastic Ono Band Band on the Run All Things Must Pass And one of Ringo's albums... If you ask me, however, I'd rank these ones as the best instead: Yellow Submarine Two Virgins Give My Regards to Broad Street Electronic Sound And one of Ringo's albums...
The first time I listened to Let It Be album, Dig a Pony did not stand out to me but after seeing them perform it live in Get Back, I love this song! I played it a lot since watching Get Back.
Congratulations on completing this mammoth task. I've enjoyed watching all of these videos. I agree with you that Let It Be precedes Abbey Road. I always think Let It Be was the last album of 'The Beatles Show' but then Abbey Road was the encore. When you mentioned Little Child & Hold Me Tight as weaker songs I couldn't agree more but I was surprised when you mentioned Not A Second Time in that category as I've always loved that song... Great melody. Anyway, all this proves is how great this little Liverpool band were & still are!
Thank you Andrew for all your efforts, very enjoyable series of videos..but Abbey Road in 4th place??! 😆🤦♂️ Should be #1! Loving your work mate, keep it up.
I have done the rankings numerous times throughout my life. There are albums that gel as albums and then albums that technically have more songs I like better, but don't gel as well as an album. Anyway, I finally put all of that aside and settled on a Three Tier ranking, as follows: Top Tier: Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's, The Beatles, Abbey Road, Let It Be ... Naked (yep, I'm *that* guy) Middle Tier: Rubber Soul, Magical Mystery Tour Bottom Tier (all still among the greatest albums ever): Please Please Me, With the Beatles, A Hard Day's Night, Beatles for Sale, Help! Yellow Submarine is a glorified EP/gift to George Martin. Cheers on another great video and finally finishing this particular project. Sorry I missed it live (if you did it live, that is), your chats are always fun.
Same, with "Yellow Submarine",I don't listen to it in its entirety often."Hey Bulldog" is a great track though. No surprise that it's a George Harrison track.

Thank you 🙂👍
Wonderful ... but so sad it's over.
@@JanisJoseph 20 each - so a 100! 1 for each Solo and 1 for the Beatles! (ok maybe 40-60 for Beatles)
Thank you so much for doing this! I thoroughly enjoyed these sessions.
Hi Andrew,
Just watched the final episode in the rankings videos, what an effort, so well done, it's been great entertainment.
Thanks Steve 🙂👍
Thank you for this great series of videos!
Thank you for watching! 👍
Andrew well done on your hard work in complying the list. Just found it amusing a lad from Brid calls films Movies.Cheers
Hi mate,
A hell of a job.
And a very nice series.
Beatles For Sale, in my humble opinion, is a very underrated Beatles album. It has a special place in my heart. Beatles For Sale was the album that got me into The Beatles.
Take care.
Thanks Pe, I would love to have rated it higher, but the albums it would have gone above were just too good!
- Revolver
- Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
- The Magical Mystery Tour
- The Beatles “White Album”
- Abbey Road
- John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band
- Imagine
- Ram
- Band On The Run
- Walls and Bridges
Brilliant Andrew. Watched this whilst running 7k! Great way to pass time. Take care and look forward to your latest uploads
Andrew, you're the fifth Beatle !!! Maybe I could change a few positions as everybody, but I loved these series and I think it's the best Beatles ranking ever. Congratulations and thanks from Uruguay.
Thank you!
"I've Got A Feeling" is one of the best tracks on "Let It Be" as well as "One After 909" and "Get Back".
Thanks Jason 🙂👍
Great content Andrew another steller job! Keep up the good work. Cheers!
Thank you! 🙂👍
well done andrew . not much arguements from me re the top ofthe list but how postcards from paradise is better than any harrison album i'll never know lol
Now have a well-deserved lie down . . .
This is quite a remarkable body of work! :) Thank you, I've really enjoyed the series :)
Here’s to Let it Be getting some respect 🥂. It’s a great album, one of my favorites so ty ! For my enjoyment list, I still have to make Ram number 1. All the songs rock.
You're right about The Beatles being the perfect desert island disc and you're right that Let it Be comes before Abbey Road. Cheers.
Amazing Andrew! Been looking for something like this
Andrew your shows are the best this show is awesome thank you
Another enjoyable ranking video, Andrew. Love the whole series and the enthusiasm you have put into making it.
Thank you 🙂👍

2. The Beatles (White Album) (10/10)
1. Abbey Road (10/10)
You've put as much effort in to this as I have! Good ranking.
My Beatles ranking:
1-2. Revolver
1-2. Abbey Road
(the winner changes from day to day - "Revolver" was also the first cassette I bought in 1988)
3. Magical Mystery Tour
4. White Album
5. Rubber Soul
6. Sgt. Pepper
7. Beatles For Sale
8. With the Beatles
9. Help!
10. Yellow Submarine (I know (I know)...)
11. Please Please Me
12. A Hard Day's Night (the only Beatles album I find overrated)
13. Let It Be (the only Beatles album I can say I partially dislike, though it was great to see the love for One After 909 in your video)
It was also most interesting to see how particular solo albums dented into your Beatles ranking.
The following Beatles & solo tracks made it:
#98. Long-Haired Lady
#91. At the Mercy (or some other track from Chaos, I compiled the list with albums in mind too)
#53. And Your Bird Can Sing
#36. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
#11. Help! (live version)
#10. the Abbey Road medley
This was a list with strong personal theme, not necessarily reflecting my rank of individual Beatles songs (of which She Said She Said would definitely beat And Your Bird Can Sing), but these lists change so fast, which is another excuse to make another one :)
Gerard
Thanks for watching and for your kind words 🙂👍
I hadn't noticed George's lack of harmony vocals on BFS but I'll have a listen for that next time!
Well done. Very enjoyable watch.
Bravo Andrew, what a incredible ranking that was, so fun to watch or should I say so enjoyable to watch! You have certainly outdone yourself with this one. I agree for the most part how it ended up. Take care and take some time off to rest up for Revolver!!
I grew up with With The Beatles on my elder brothers Danset. Brilliant!
My Dad had bought Revolver and I remember looking at the cover as a little boy and wondering what kind of music could possibly be inside a cover that different and amazing. It didn’t disappoint.
To quote many a reality or "talent" tv show, this has been a journey! Really interesting stuff. For what it's worth:
13 Yellow Submarine
12 With The Beatles
11 Please Please Me
10 Beatles For Sale
9 Let It Be
8 Help!
7 A Hard Day's Night
(Let It Be Naked)
6 Rubber Soul
5 Magical Mystery Tour
4 The Beatles/ White Album
3 Revolver
2 Sgt Peppers
1 Abbey Road (The perfect and best album... EVER)
Would be interested to see where Let It Be Naked would be in your list and how other classic albums would be placed ie The Bends, Hounds Of Love, Stone Roses debut, Dark Side Of The Moon, Pet Sounds etc
Every one of those would be a contender for a high placing! 🙂👍
Thanks, Andrew. What a fun series to follow.
Great, great video, I enjoyed it a lot.
Thank you 🙂👍
That was an awesome mammoth task Andrew.
Cheers, and all done on a 50p budget, GOT can't match that!
Absolutely massive task, but the results are fantastic! Thanks Andrew.
@@timmdoolen5041 there was a lot of new material on the Anthologies too. Wouldn’t hurt to add those either. But it is Andrew’s list.
Thks i like your ranking list, just got the mono box on vinyl so iam so happy
That was an amazing task! Incredibly well done. I really agree with the enjoyment factor being the key. No argument here! Look forward to your next videos. Cheers!
Thank you! 🙂👍
Thanks Philip! 👍👍
Omg so looking forward but I want to totally enjoy so will watch tonight !
Can you post your list in full? I would like to take a screen shot of it. It's an amazing list
I will try and make it available somewhere soon
A great analysis of the 13 Beatles albums.and why you placed them in their respective positions individually and within the overall list.We could argue the toss on a few spots here and there but all said and done a great list and fantastic effort really enjoyed following the whole series.
Thank you! 🙂👍
Great work Andrew. Can’t argue with your Beatles top 4, my order:
Revolver
White Album
Abbey Road
Pepper
( no 5 Rubber Soul)
Entertaining to watch the whole ranking series from start to finish. Great work! I would love to see a separate ranking of the Beatles singles. So many people rank the albums on CZcams, but I've seen very few rank the singles... which is a little sad, because the singles were such a huge part of their legacy. You could just stick to the 22 original UK singles from 1962-1970. Or you could expand into the post-breakup and solo singles too, though it might be best to have a cutoff at the end of the 70s or 80s, since singles weren't as critical once CDs took over.
Thanks, interesting one to ponder!
Off the top of my head:
1. White album
2. Revolver
3. Rubber Soul
4. Ram
5. McCartney
6. Abbey Road
7. Magical Mystery Tour
8. Sgt Pepper
9. Tug of War
10. Imagine
11. Beatles for Sale
12. Egypt Station
13. Memory Almost Full
14. Hard days Night
15. Help
16. Band on the run
17. Plastic Ono Band
18. Flaming Pie
19. Esher Demos
Thanks Jason, no plans for an Elton ranking, I could potentially do one on my favourite songs but I don't know enough of his albums.
Rubber Soul in Mono along with Pet Sounds my two favorite albums of all time! You have a very solid ranking ! Always enjoyable Andrew!
I wonder where Pet Sounds would sit in this ranking? Well inside the top10 for sure.
@@AndrewDixonMusic there is another channel here called Giggens . He is the American version of you doing Beach Boys ! He does similar BB rankings . Great channel you
Should check out.
Thank you! 🙂👍
Thanks for these videos, I've really enjoyed watching them. Is there somewhere I can view your full list without having to look at the videos? A Google Sheet or Excel file, perhaps? Apologies if you've already mentioned this
Hi, thanks for watching! The list isn't online unfortunately, just in these videos.
Maybe I need 1 more video to slot those in!
The great thing with these lists is we can each have completely different orders, and both be 100% correct 👍
It was a great series, thanks Andrew!
Thank you 🙂👍
great series!
Great video thoroughly enjoyed throughout
Thank you! 🙂👍
Amazing series! It obviously took a ton of work to make this.
Thank you, you're right about the ton of work, especially the Ringo section! 👍
10- Red Rose Speedway (the 2 vinyl version with 1882)
9- Living in the miracle world
8- Sgt Pepper
7- Imagine
6- Revolver
5- Ram (the 2 vinyl version with singles)
4- Plastic Ono band
3- All things must pass
2- Abbey Road
1- White Album (especially the vinyl version with the full Esher demos)
Thanks for your comments, and I absolutely agree, it was a very foolish undertaking! 😄
I must say though that your method of going through chronologically then slotting each one in is not something I’d ever thought of so I might give it a go
Great series, thanks. Where did you get the Dark Horse hoodie?
Thanks. Got it from the official George Harrison website 👍
Hi Andrew
Just for fun and out of curiosity I wonder where you would have tanked:
"Yellow Submarine Songtrack" or "Get Back" had it been issued originally as it appeared on the LET IT BE boxset.
Enjoyed the video. Many thanks.
Do you have a favourite Beatles era? In other words: Do you prefer (what I call) The Beat Years, The Greatest Songwriters Emergence, The Psychedelic Innovators Era, or the Seasoned Rockers period?
Thanks! No favourite eras for me, I just enjoy the whole start to finish story 👍
My favourite all time is.......i really dont know!, exciting video
Would love an extra video where you shuffle in the non traditional studio albums like Live at the BBC, Anthology, etc
Seems to be a popular request, I'll have to give it some thought 🙂👍
@@AndrewDixonMusic It’s been a fantastically thoughtful and entertaining series. Really turned me on to a lot of albums I haven’t really given a chance before
And just for fun, here's my top-ten. I don't have your patience to do them all!
10: Double Fantasy
9: Imagine
8: Ram
7: The White Album
6: Rubber Soul
5: All Things Must Pass
4: Band on the Run
3: Sgt Pepper
2: Abbey Road
1: Revolver
Solid top 10!
"Let It Be" has grown on me,with time, too.
Ha Ha Ha..
Congratulations Andrew on a brilliant & interesting history of the Beatles Albums & to Hear your personal views on them & where you rank them .😊
Thank you John! 🙂👍
@@AndrewDixonMusic Your welcome Andrew
Are you going to do a fave track off each album? 😜
Agreed on Sgt Pepper take as well as Getting Better
Anyone can have their own favourites, of course, but I think it's generally accepted that the best Beatles and Beatle solo albums are:
Abbey Road
Plastic Ono Band
Band on the Run
All Things Must Pass
And one of Ringo's albums...
If you ask me, however, I'd rank these ones as the best instead:
Yellow Submarine
Two Virgins
Give My Regards to Broad Street
Electronic Sound
And one of Ringo's albums...
I'm getting some heat for including Not A Second Time as one I don't like! 😄
Anyway, I finally put all of that aside and settled on a Three Tier ranking, as follows:
Top Tier: Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's, The Beatles, Abbey Road, Let It Be ... Naked (yep, I'm *that* guy)
Middle Tier: Rubber Soul, Magical Mystery Tour
Bottom Tier (all still among the greatest albums ever): Please Please Me, With the Beatles, A Hard Day's Night, Beatles for Sale, Help!
Yellow Submarine is a glorified EP/gift to George Martin.
Cheers on another great video and finally finishing this particular project. Sorry I missed it live (if you did it live, that is), your chats are always fun.
Thank you! You didn't miss anything, it wasn't done live...
Same, with "Yellow Submarine",I don't listen to it in its entirety often."Hey Bulldog" is a great track though. No surprise that it's a George Harrison track.
