Arcosanti, an urban experiment in sustainable living through "arcology" (a blend of architecture and ecology), offers various hands-on workshops that embody the principle of "learning by doing." These workshops, held in the inspiring setting of the High Sonoran Desert, provide immersive experiences in different areas:
Farm-to-Table Workshops: These workshops focus on sustainable food production, teaching participants about closed-loop food systems, the science of agriculture, and creating meals from freshly grown produce. Participants engage in community building activities like running a store and making group meals​​.
Construction Workshops: In these workshops, participants contribute to the construction and maintenance of Arcosanti itself. This includes repairing and restoring original structures and building new ones, learning about resource-conscious architecture and compact urbanism. The experience is hands-on, involving various construction-related tasks and community activities​​.
Archives Workshops: These are designed for those interested in the historical and theoretical aspects of Arcosanti. Participants study and help preserve Arcosanti's lineage through hands-on archival work, including maintaining architectural documents and models, and assisting in cataloging and digitizing past works​​.
Each workshop provides a comprehensive experience, including tuition, meals, housing, facilities, and field trips. They are an opportunity to join a community of over 8,000 alumni who have contributed to building Arcosanti's unique arcology.
