  • Join me on my first real scooter ride of 2017. I travel for a couple of hours to the Madawaska river and back while the sun is out. I live in Lanark Highlands Ontario and the snow is finally gone and the weather getting warmer.

    Hi James, always enjoy watching your videos and subscribed some months back. I returned to 'scootering' last year after a break of 52 years. In the early 1960's l rode a Lambretta Li 150 but when my kids came along, and with the added responsibilities, l went to 4 wheels. I've got a Piaggio fly 125 which is great to ride, but living in Somerset in England, sadly l don't quite get the beautiful scenery you have there in Canada. I fully endorse your comment about the joys and thrill of getting out for the first ride of the year--exhillerating! Hope you enjoy your camping trip and keep up the good work with the videos. Ride safely!

      davem429, thanks for the comment. I was born in Weymouth England (last lived in Patchway near Bristol before leaving at 12 years old for the colonies) and last year went back with my Mum for a trip to the old haunts. I had never driven in the UK before and I thought at the time that a scooter would be the perfect thing for zipping around the narrow roads. We went from The south coast of England to the north coast of Wales and I think you have at your doorstep, some of most beautiful scenery around, including the stone buildings and ruins of ancient places too numerous to see all in two weeks. Take care, and enjoy the rides.

    I see this is a while back. But, I have a 2012 like 200 and at 77 this is the way to go. Want to have two wheels and is my only transportation other than a electric bike. There is only one road worth driving with any turns and that is out of Kingman AZ to Oetman . But better than nothing. It only has 3,500 miles and runs great. Did not think I would like fuel injection but now would not buy a bike without it and still enjoy this scooter. Ride safe and thanks for the video.

      Thanks for the comment. I started late in life but I am really enjoying riding the scooter. Spring is almost here and I’m itching to get on the road.

    Nice country, low traffic, fresh air! It's almost the same period that we both bought the scooters. I bought mine (Kawasaki J-300) in March 2016 just a few months before retirement (birth:1956) and I've driven 12.000 km since then. The climate here in Istanbul allows approx.9-10 months of driving a year. I've driven long distance four times (300-350 km) up till now.

      So you retired early :) I was born in 1954 and retiring next year.I'd love to be able to use my scooter for 9-10 months, must be nice, although I don't know what it's like to ride near Istanbul. My commute to work is about 2 hours each way, but check out my long trip to Tobermory, which was my longest trip so far and really great!Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

    Looks like a nice ride... I wish we were just starting spring now....I'm about 200km south of you in Northern NY... Thought about getting a scooter about that size to use next spring, summer, and fall... I don't do much driving since retiring 2 years ago....drove my Subaru about 3,300km in the last year....thanks for the video...

      Thanks for the comment, hope all is well after that large snow fall you had. New York state will be beautiful to ride, I have thought about going down into the Adirondacks with my scooter. I wish I had started riding a long time ago but I am enjoying it now, riding just for the pleasure of riding is amazing. Enjoy the winter months, it’s a thoughtful time and a great time to plan your trips, I will be looking at maps and working on some more luggage for the scoot. Take care.

      @@jamescarey7277 In 2009 I rode my Ural with a sidecar all around the U.S.A.
      Traveled through 30 states, visited 13 National Parks, and completed 14,000 miles in about 3 months..Ride of a lifetime... The rural area I live in is perfect for motorcycle riding...I live between the St. Lawrence River and Adirondack Mountains. I used to work a 12 hour shift where every 4 weeks I'd have 7 days in a row off... I regularly used to head out and stay at the same Motel 6 near Burlington, VT... It happened so often the workers behind the desk used to greet me by first name.. I'd spend days traveling through Vermont and New Hampshire, even up to the top of Mt. Washington a couple times... Riding gives you a feeling of freedom...

      Wow, what a trip! I have never ridden a motorcycle and at this point in life the step through scooter is so much easier to mount. The ural with a side car sounds amazing.

    I’m looking at getting a Kymco. The local dealer wants 2499.00 for the Kymco like 200i but it seems expensive for a 3 year old scooter. It is new. What do you think. The 2020 Kymco 159 is 3k. Great vid BTW

    • @jamescarey7277
      @jamescarey7277  Před 3 lety

      I can’t really say, sorry, depends on what else is available and what used prices are, but it does have the bonus of being new. Not sure what the Kymco 159 is.

    Hey guy, looks like a fun ride, was thinking about buying this model myself this week. Quick question How tall are you? I am 6'1 and am questioning the legroom for me. Thanks bud

    • @jamescarey7277
      @jamescarey7277  Před 7 lety

      I am 5'11" so not sure about a taller person riding.You could pose the question on the Kymco like 200i Forum, I'm sure there are riders that would answer that question.I am really enjoying this bike, although I haven't had any others to compare. I am going to get an extra seat cushion as the design with the ridge in the middle limits the sitting position (a taller person would have to use the back portion of the seat I think)Thanks for watching and commenting, appreciate it.

    Pretty bike. Nice ride. Very simple & not overbake narration. I might have missed a couple things. Have you had any issues with the bike? What is your weight, if you don't mind me asking? Thank you.

    • @jamescarey7277
      @jamescarey7277  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks Rodney. No issues with the bike.My weight is about 180 lbs and I'm 5' 11".The only issue I had was that for my height the seat was not quite right for long distance (around town it was perfect) driving because of the ridge midway, but I could shift butt position and get by.If you are in Ontario or nearby, I am selling the bike :)Thanks for the comments.

    • @rodneyjordan5078

      LONG ways away. I'm in West Virginia. Why are you selling?

    • @jamescarey7277
      @jamescarey7277  Před 6 lety +1

      I saw a Honda SH 150i for a good deal and bought it, and don't have storage room for two bikes. The Honda has larger wheels ( smooths out the many bumps and rough gravel I encounter on my travels ) and a seat more suited for long rides.
      Happy riding in West Virginia.

      @rodneyjordan5078 Před 6 lety

      Thank you. I don't live in an incredibly beautiful area, but there's very nice areas an hour away. Gives the rider an opportunity to bike camp or get a room.

    Great footage. I visit Ottawa once a year to attend a film festival, but last year I had the pleasure of riding up on my Kymco Downtown 300i from Philadelphia. While there I also had the chance to visit a friend who lives in Rockland, who took me on a great tour of the Ottawa country side on his own Downtown as well. I shot everything on my helmet cam and will be posting the footage over the course of the year.
    If you get a chance check out, or join the Kymco forum -- Kymcoforum.com to meet like minded owners and riders such as you. There's another member who is from PEI. My first bike was a Yager GT 200i which is much like yours in terms of power and handling. Great bikes and brand. Looking forward to more of your post.

    Nice ride and enjoyed your video. What top speed is most comfortable? I know they do around 62mph, but what speed is sustainable? I had a 250cc and was comfortable at 55-60mph, 70mph was getting scary. Thank you

    • @jamescarey7277
      @jamescarey7277  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed.I cruise along at about 55 mph most of the time on the open road and find the bike and I are happy with that. I find the bike very stable and easy to handle even at 60, and I wouldn't want to go faster anyway, even if I could.

    这个车的减震如何,是不是比较硬?没有ABS或者CBS刹车是不是比较危险

    • @jamescarey7277
      @jamescarey7277  Před 7 lety

      I think you are asking about the shocks and brakes. The ride is good but you do feel the bumps. Brakes are good, and using both front and rear gives good breaking.
      Thanks for watching.
