Love how you park like a baby of the family
Awesome looks just like my set up with the cooler and portable battery with solar panel. 😃. I have a lx470 and do the exact same thing as you. Very cool.
That’s awesome! I think the D/C fridge is a game changer. Thanks for watching!
Nice video. I'd love to take the family on an overland adventure in my 2001 100 series. Thanks for the gear reviews and descriptions.
As one who has been on the Tacoma wine forever and a day- I will not go back it's Landcruiser always!
If you look back at my older videos I was a Tacoma guy for a long time. I put together a few videos on my old Tacoma. Definitely things I miss about it. Always was curious about the Landcruisers and now I understand why! It’s a sweet rig as well! Thanks for watching!
I would recommend running a 10AWG wire to the back charger to reduce voltage drop. I also added a Anderson plug next to the DC plug to charge my DIY solar generator.
If I was going to solely run the fridge of the DC plug, than I would definitely consider this. I charge my solar generator directly off the DC plug and run my fridge off the solar generator at the same time. Pass through charging and no voltage drop on the fridge that way.
Yota cruiser is always never fail to amaze offroad and touring world... Btw, awesome rig U have broo...
Thanks and no doubt!
If ur switching to synthetic oil check ur Dip stick after every 1k miles and make sure it don't start burning it. Nice looking rig. We are looking for a sequoia for same kinda thing.
It was already running 5w-30 full synthetic in it since mile 1. I am just switching to the platinum edition because it’s rated higher. Sequoias are Land Cruisers in disguise. Sweet rigs too!
I regret having sold our 1999 LC 100 series six years. Now after watching your video, I want another newer LC 100. By the way, after doing the math on your road trip gasoline cost/mpg, ($700.00/4,000 miles = 17.5 mpg) 17.5 mpg is not bad at all for a 6,000 lbs on a lifted suv, with all-terrain, off-roady tires, loaded down with passengers and cargo and traveling through mountainous roads. Thank you for sharing your info and video!
Keep in mind we started the trip with a full tank and ended it on empty. It was probably around 12-14 mpg, but I still love the rig. They definitely live up to Cruising the Land! Thanks for watching!
So much good info in this video as with the rest of yours. a 2004 LC is my dream OL build. Perfect year for the perfect rig. You're doing it right. Kids here too.
Nice video.
Yeah Diesel is maybe cheaper on the trip. But in the maintenance is the Benzin in the long therm cheaper
my love tlc100
Look at the Rocky Road bolt on sliders. Don't require welding. Do a good job installing them, get them tight and in the right spot and they won't make any noise when you get off road. Really good powder coat finish. You will need two people to install them and a lift makes it a lot easier. They have one set with a 45 and one pair that are flat. I put them on my 98 and they worked out really well.
I’ll check them out, thanks!
White knuckle off road for sliders recommendation
Hello my friend
7:37 I own a 2003 Land Cruiser GXR. It has an internal refrigerator that is located in the middle next to the driver.
It is enough for hunting trips
Easy and reliable, I recommend it if it is not available in your model
from Saudi Arabia❤
I love that this video is being watched around the world. The newer models here have that option but the year I have does not. That’s cool that yours does. I wish they had that here. The fridge I bought hooked up in the rear works great for us.
@@pickettbuilt2686 this is a good option to have a large refrigerator on family trips I hope the whole family enjoyed the car
Looking good
Thanks man!
I recently purchased a 2006 100 Series Land Cruiser with 159k miles, and your video made me feel much more confident about my decision. Have you had to replace the heater T's or encountered any issues with the master brake assembly? Also, is this your daily driver? Thanks again for the great content!
@@noctilucent7396 congrats on your purchase. That’s a score. I just recently had the timing belt and water pump replaced. Also replaced the heater T’s and a few lines that looked old. I think it’s a good idea to replace them when doing all that just to ensure it’s longevity. I haven’t had any other issues other than replacing the CV axles. It is my daily driver however it is very thirsty. Thanks for watching!
Check out white knuckle off-road sliders
I’ve been looking at white knuckle, slee, and metal-tech. It’s a toss up. Probably going to boil down to price.
Thanks Joe for the higher gas prices!
Agreed!
@@pickettbuilt2686 How those prices today?
@@kevinrichards1539 Even worse 🤣!!
@@pickettbuilt2686 Im paying 230 a gallon. Where are you?
@@kevinrichards1539 better than where I am. $2.79 here
I like how your LC looks!
Good old 4x4 style!
Is yours diesel?
Appreciate it! I definitely dig the look too. It has a 4.7L V-8
No diesel LC 100s in the US :(
@@maxmogavero1624 Ah got it😮
So, the only way is importing,,,🚙
@Journey Never Ends
Unfortunately you can’t import a vehicle under 25 years old to the US. So starting in 2023 you will be able to import a diesel 100 series, as long as it is the 1998 model.
@@RyanGiroux22 Ah now I understand. I didn't know that as I'm not from/in the U.S. That is a unique regulation.😮
Sliders are White Castle in my opinion!
This vehicle was not built to be an economy car. It is a tank. The only thing it cannot get past is a gas station.
That’s for sure!
Complaining about the petrol price... Try the same trip in Europe, you'll be crying.
No doubt! I can not even imagine covering the same distance on a trip in Europe. I have family from Norway and they laugh at me when I complain about fuel prices over here.
Cool bottled water!
Good video
Thanks!
$700 only for 4000miles! That’s cheap this days
No doubt, something Land Cruiser owners know all to well. That was just a rough estimate and I didn’t even include starting the trip with a full tank and finishing dang near on empty.
Same trip today would be about $1,400.
@@pickettbuilt2686 I am curious about your fuel price and MPG. If you paid $2.75 per gallon (a good price) you would have to get 15.75 MPG to go 4,000 miles. (15.75 MPG is just about the very best I can get in a 100 series.)
@@bfdonaldson 15 mpg is definitely at best. Generally average around 12 mpg.
How many miles did it have when you bought it?
170k
Hi hope your well what model thule box is that looks awsome fitted
Doing well thanks. It’s the Force Thule Box. I believe it’s the sport model.
Like the stand. What’s your tire and wheel size?
Tires are 285s and Wheels are 18”.
Toyota builds the Land Cruiser and the 4Runner to last a minimum of 20 years without any major mechanical issues.
Definitely built to last. I’ve heard built to last 25 years in 3rd world conditions.
We replaced the alternator in our 2002 100 Series in 2015. We run Royal Purple oil and a good Napa filter, changing both every 5,000 miles. No other mechanical issues to report. In the fall of 2016, we "parked" the LC due to some family health issues, a buddy's been driving the LC every month or so to keep everything lubed and used. We are about ready to resume driving the LC and had the tires, timing belt, radiator, belts, hoses and fluids changed in March 2023, at 105K miles. Good as new for another 90K miles.
Looking forward to the Cruiser hitting puberty at 200,000 miles:-)
how many mpg loss with this Thule cargo box?
Not much if any mpg loss at all. I don’t even notice any additional wind noise. However, packing it full and carrying a bunch of extra weight is the factor on mpg.
It is heavy on fuel compared to what ?
Good question. My Tacoma averaged about 16 mpg and it was a long bed, lifted, and had a loaded out camper shell. We have a Subaru that gets over 30 mpg. Significantly a smaller vehicle though. My old 2002 Z71 Tahoe would be a good comparison as the fuel economy was similar and I would say an equivalent vehicle in size. So I guess the fuel mileage is to be expected for what it is. However there are newer rigs even bigger in size getting better fuel economy. I wouldn’t trade though.
Brother is it comfortable for long drive
Absolutely!
I wonder if you convert one into a hydrogen fuel intake. Put water and keep going😅
Interesting. I would love to see it done!
What wheels are those? Do you know the specs also?
Don’t know the exact specs but they are 18” granite alloy GA640s in dark metallic bronze.
Real interested on the solar panel set up
I would love to do a follow up video on the solar setup. I have only used it a few times now but so far it charges my power station as fast as the A/C adapter does at around 90 watts. To be off grid and have a way to charge the power station and run the D/C fridge, charge our phones, camera batteries, power air pumps for air mattresses and whatever else you would need for camping it has been amazing. I am hoping to do a follow up review on the whole setup as we put it to the test. Thanks for watching!
Slee sliders
I’ve been looking at slee, white knuckle, and metal-tech. Probably going to boil down to price.
