As much as I love what Henderson brings to players around him, he’s not good enough to start in Liverpool’s midfield nowadays, let alone to start over Gerard in an all time Liverpool XI
The Trent “could play in midfield” debate is an interesting one for me. Yes, his passing is unbelievable but it’s his positioning from RB and the Liverpool system around him that allows him to play the passes he does. He can drift into midfield from RB and be an extra man in there which gives him space. If he started in midfield he would have to try and find the space. I know he played CM in the youth team but I feel like there is a reason he’s ended up at RB.
Cancelo is similar but he can defend unlike trent so he should be a midfielder

Exactly RB suits him as midfield can be really hectic. He did last season play a new role where he travelled in midfield quite a lot. He had a different role in the system last season. I’d rather him move to midfield so we can get a proper RB who’s main job is defend as well as get forward. Trent is too much of a forward thinking person.

If you had Gerrard in this Liverpool team, he will still stand out. What everyone remembers Gerrard is towards the end of his career where he wasn't the best of himself, but even then, he was still one of the best CM in the league.

Gerrard is genuinely one of the best midfielders in recent history and easily the best in Liverpool’s history. To not have him in an all time liverpool 11 is outrageous. I don’t think there’s one aspect of football where Henderson is better than Gerrard

On Gerrard's point - You are comparing 2 different generation and might I add eras of football.
I agree if Trent played in Istambul,he could have been 1 of the stars, but only if he had gotten the modern training he got at his age.
Other view to look at it is, imagine Gerrard under Klopp, midfield of Gerrard, Fabinoh, Thiago, and front line of Salah, Firimino, Mane

the thing with richarlison is he can still get so many starts. even if spurs get knocked out of all comps at earliest opportunity they'll still have 46 games this season minimum. so across front 3 together that's 138 starting places (46 x 3) so each of richarlison, kane, son and kulisevski can start 35 games each next season - some games will be son, richarlison, kulisevski when kane needs rest and others will be kane upfront with the other 3 rotating on the wing!
Exactly, plus kane and son aren’t getting any younger so fitness issues are getting more and more likely over the next couple of years
@@craigpatrick4823 Richarlison is only 3 years younger than Kane mate, and Kane has great Stamina, particularly considering he doesn’t sprint that much
I think that’s just unrealistic, they won’t share 35 games a piece, Son and Kane will be starting 90-95% of the time, also, you haven’t even taken Lucas Moura into the equation too, who will bench and probably start some games as well

In terms of Trent playing CM, it's an entirely different ballgame. It's not just about being a good passer. At fullback you face the whole play and can take one touch then find a pass. 99% of your play in possession is facing forward, looking at the while picture. At CM, 50% of the time you have to take the ball facing your own goal. It's a whole different skill set.

There is not a player in current world football that can do what Gerrard did. No one. Modric may be a balon d'or winning midfielder (I do agree with that win for for Modric btw, I'm not a hater), but Modric isn't gonna be the guy that sprints back and makes an incredible slide-tackle to win the ball, dribble past multiple opposition players, and score an unbelievable 30 yard strike into the corner of the goal. Gerrard had EVERYTHING you could ever want in a player, and the standard of play in world football may have increased even in just the short time since Gerrard's retirement, but a truly world-class *box-to-box* midfielder does not exist right now.

From a spurs fan point if view, Richarlson is a very smart signing and suits the type of foward we were looking for in this window, a forward that can play across the front line and works hard. Jack is spot on with his reasoning spurs are tryna reduce the gap between Sours and the top 2 and by spending 60m on a prem proven forward will help do that, as well as making sure that when we do rest a Kane or a son that the quality of the team isn't dropping like it would have in the past, sorry Andy
The bottom line is kane and son aren’t getting any younger, son is 30 now so in the next couple seasons fitness issues are going to be a thing, it’s like with kante in a way so by investing in another forward it means when son or kane are unable to play there’s much less of a hole in the team
Kane will leave next season aswell so it's sort of a replacement.
