Finally a real caller with common issues. These prices and incomes are absolutely horrendous. 2k is enough for a mortgage payment but the downpayment is super hard. Spinning wheels is a frustrating feeling and there are no real answers to her issue. That is why this Is so tough.
There are some very simple answers, she is wrong. Sheâs paying $2000 for an apartment in Phoenix and is convinced she canât find anything else. Sheâs simply extremely wrong. I own two homes there, one rents for $1250 and itâs a safe area for starter home types. The other is $2500 a month and itâs a 3/2 with a pool that is very nice. This woman lives in her own world, there are thousands of cheaper houses in the area and she works at home.
There are plenty of answers to her situation. They require knowing your priorities and making sacrifices.
They indirectly provided the answer. Like after a certain point it is hard to cut your expenses further but our income potential is unlimited regardless your education level. They hinted at her trying something else which would bring in more as a possible solution and that is the easiest solution to those who donât mind temporary discomfort from learning new things.

What else are they?
@@cm5394 "Single mom" implies that she is taking care of a child on her own. If you are divorced and are getting child support/joint custody, you are not a "single mom".
I purchased my 840 sq ft Tampa condo in 2020 for 100k. It was appraised at 175k in 2022 taxes. Finding affordable housing in Tampa is so bad, people are paying more than 200k to land a unit my size - well over asking price and in cash.
I would not be able to afford my condo today. Even coming in with a 65% down payment like I did, I would have been outbid by people who could pay 30k above asking price - all in cash.
I feel horrible for the renters out there. My old apartment went from 1k to 1800 month in three years.
Good on her for having no debt and some solid savings! I hope her superviser is able to give her a better income soon
Call centers don't pay.well; you're just cattle there. She needs to get different work. Heck, community colleges have career tracks that could have her earning double what she's getting now.
I mean you're not going to make a lot at a call center. It's not that in demand of a skillset. She should think of getting a certification on the side with her savings so she can improve her employment prospects. She needs a new career.
She needs more skills.
@@Originalman144 exactly! It is possible to get out of her situation. You can do a 6 month programming boot camp and come out making like 75-85k a year. She just needs some skillsets.
@@christinebutler7630 she should get into IT. There are SO MUCH demand right now and shortage you can get sign up bonuses depending what part of IT but it def pays well and lucrative. Easily make 65k-150k range in IT with great benefits.
I like in AZ and rent is extremely expensive. 2k is average for 2 bedroom apartment. Anywhere cheaper is not safe⊠and still expensive. Itâs really hard right now. Like 6 years ago a 2 bedroom was $1200ish.
Laptop Littles is a company that hires single moms to be virtual assistants and pays really well.
This caller works in an insurance call center, there are SO many opportunities to make more money within insurance (without selling). That's what my whole channel is about.
Respect to this single mom for considering the needs of the kid to allow them to stay near the Father
Im shocked at all the people saying to move away to another state or give the child to the father.
They didn't ask her about child support. Is that income INCLUDING child support? Or does he not pay? Whatever's going on, she's hanging on by her fingernails so he can maintain close proximity to the child, it would be nice if Dad could step up and help without having a judge tell him to.
For those concerned about living in a rough area, hereâs a typical experience: those who generally keep to themselves almost never have any problems. Thatâs why Iâm not picky about what part of a city or state I live in
That said, I just looked on Zillow and found 25 listings for two bedroom housing for $1,000 or less. If she can scrape by paying $2,000 in rent, she can quickly stack cash to buy a house. Stash that extra $12,000 per year into a high yield savings account for five years and come away with about $69,000 for that down payment. Thatâs assuming one annual deposit into an account with a 4.75% APY
Iâd also look for ways to increase income. I know people will say thatâs difficult especially with kids, but people need to start thinking about these things before having kids
Unfortunately there are a ton of jobs only paying around 40k. 40k a year now is poverty. I feel bad for people like her. A single person has to make at least 80k a year just to live. And no George it ainât going to get better Your delusional if you think it will
People need more skills. The reason they only make 40k is because they donât have any skills.
She should have never had a kid Not sure why single women want to raise kids all by themselves.
Sad and true
@@Originalman144 thatâs not true at all. Corporations are greedy end of story.
@@teeduck đŻshe TOTALLY shouldn't have created a child all by herselfđ
This is why I don't want to have kids till I own property
I wonder why the split from child's father. Before you have children you gotta get with the right partner or you're just putting your own children thru poverty
Yes, finish school, have a good career going, buy a house THEN consider children.
@@saulgoodman2018 but she COULD have planned for finishing school and having a good career in place before getting married and/or having children. She failed to plan.
@@saulgoodman2018 then poverty is the option they choose.
@@saulgoodman2018 bro have you even been in a relationship? đ
Kudos to the mom for wanting to keep her kid in touch with the dad. Makes me wonder if there's a possibility in patching up the relationship. It would certainly help her financial situation. I know it's not always an option.
its not. A lot of parents do this based on their own choice or ordered by the courts not to move unless their is a written agreement in place.
I bought a condo before prices went nuts. So glad I did. I'd be paying $400 more a month to rent.
That is a life saver, good move!!!!
Getting a better job is insanely hard right now , they keep telling us itâs easy but itâs not something is up in that sense
It has never been easy. And you need to make sacrifices. For me, it only became easy when my investments (real estate) started to actually turn a profit but it took over a decade for this to happen.
I just landed a job that will pay me 30 percent more base pay, plus taking call and a signing bonus. It can be accomplished, but due diligence must be done.
@@johnSmith-uz8nl Success does not come easily or quickly, otherwise everyone would be financially successful. Good for you though! I should reach baby step seven in a couple years and I have been working on it since 2012.
Props to single parents that never stop grinding to get to a better placeđđȘ
Iâm sorry, but why is Rachel even at the table? She grew up in a home of a multimillionaire. Sure Dave was poor when she was a toddler, but sheâs never known what it is to struggle. Just because sheâs Daveâs daughter doesnât mean she is qualified to sit in that seat. She has no place telling these people how to handle their finances, can they get cheaper rent, can they trim expenses. She knows nothing of it.
Ahhh I didn't know that. But I just find her annoying in all the videos she's in. Her vibe is off for sure.
Ugh I feel for her I just want my house already but I don't want to go over just because others are willing too.
I love the Ramsey group but Iâve contacted a lot of his endorsed local providers and Iâve only been happy with the realtor and Zander Insurance. The Churchill mortgage and investors were NOT a good fit and I took my business elsewhere.
Household income has to be $100K minimum. Most ppl can't afford one on there own through Dave's way. Just facts. But I'm go with his way.
@David Chavez I meant the average house in America period. It wasn't city specific. His advice not outdated math is old as dirt. If you do a 30 year you going spend $100K
More vs 15. Just people got to admit without increasing their income home ownership is impossible for them at least right now.
Daveâs system may be morally right, but we donât live in a biblical monetary system. You can keep playing by Daveâs rules but you donât control the printing presses. You will be hard pressed to keep up and that rest of us are time stamping the prices from 3-5 years ago and yâall were too stubborn to pay interest. Now you can pay $100k more in principle and that is not going to go away unlike the interest which you can pay off earlier and boom you got the 2018 prices. Too late now, enjoy the ride of the inflation wave.
My suggestion is to rent a room, I live in Phoenix area too, definitely expensive. Renting a room is the way to go!
* Even with a kid, you can find rooms to rent (rent the master bedroom).
Itâs called safety. No mother in her right mind would allow a stranger to live with them. This isnât ok.
Shouldnât have to be like that
Its pretty hard to find employers that tolerate WFH for a single mom whose kid is at home though. Leaving the security of a position that allows that for a new position that might be bothered by that would probably feel pretty risky.
True but things have changed a lot after the pandemic. I work in IT and you can find at least a hybrid model work place (2-3 days remote and rest at office per week). But her kid sounds like heâs going to public school now so shouldnât be a problem.
I work in the insurance field and carriers are hiring like crazy. Especially remote positions. I guarantee if she put herself out there and apply with other insurance companies she can increase her income $10k plus.
Absolutely! Sheâs probably already licensed too
That's a extremely NICE two bedroom for $2k a month in Mesa/Phoenix metro - I know how much housing went up. You are way overbuying in apartment. We sold our house in north Phoenix November 2020 for $279k - and it resold in August for $417k. You can get nice (not ghetto areas) two bedroom for $1300.
Prices of food , utilities, gas and transportation will never return to pre Brandon levels
For our sake, I hope youâre wrong! Save America
I hope I'm wrong too but I've never seen a time when we had high inflation and price on these things go all the way back to pre inflation prices and with companies having to pay more to get people to work that won't help matters either
She needs another single mum roommate...
That would require common sense.
She should have stayed married instead of being a quitter.
If you don't live in LA or NY, then $2000 per month for rent is ridiculous. I live in Florida and my daughter and her roommates rent a three bedroom house for $1900, and that rent is high. This lady needs to move.
Its amazing on here how so many think the father needs to help pay this woman's rent. How do you know that he does not have 50/50 custody? Or that maybe he needs his own money to pay his own bills? She cant move too far because its his child too. I am a woman btw.
Yea I was surprised same as you.
She could look in Pinal, Gila and Yavapai County. Those are probably cheaper than Maricopa County/Phoenix area. She would still be close to the kids father.
I am going to take the devil's advocate position here but it is based on my own heart - breaking experience. It is not always better for her child to stay in the same city as the dad. Why should the primary caregiver have to suffer like this? If they move to a more reasonable area dad could visit or have the kids on the holidays and she could breath. Tough on dad? Maybe. But why did he divorce her? I stayed for the ex-husband and it would have been easier if I would have returned to where my folks live and had dad visit.
If she can work remotely she can move to Texas for example... I pay 1080 in mortgage for a 4 bedroom house. There is always something you can do
I'm so lucky my mortgage payment is only 800 a month ..I bought my house during the 2008 crisis super cheap and now it's worth a lot of money if I ever decide to sell it
Indeed.
Might have been a great recession but great times for real estate opportunities back then.
You mean the mortgage payments?
@@_sparrowhawk yes,my mortgage payment is $800 a month.....I'm so lucky! Lol
@@_sparrowhawk I bought the house when it was in foreclosure at 110k and now its worth 220k....I only owe 70k on it
Things need to change in this country. Rents are ridiculous everywhere! 2K in AZ! God help us all!!
Quit voting Democrat!
2k per month is bananas in my town. We own for less than a grand and the house is nice. I hope she finds somewhere affordable soon.
