    Former 250L owner. All his statements are true in my experience. The weight is front heavy and the suspension is incredibly soft, the pogo statement is worse than he claims but doesn’t show up unless you push the pace or it’s really rough. I’ve taken mine on some nasty sandy single track and made it through mostly unscathed. Highly recommend for any beginner to dirt

    I started on a cbr500r then traded that for a triumph tiger 800 and last year also bought a crf300l. Out of all of them, the 300 has been the most fun to ride and the 500 was a ton of fun. Its fun to rip on the triumph and hear that 3 cylinder purr, but it gets boring sometimes.

    You can move the brake hose by loosening the banjo bolt on the master a little and rotating it slightly forward or back to change the angle it points at so it'll end up out of your line of sight a little better. If you loosen it too much you might end up needing to bleed the front brakes, but it's super easy on that bike.

    I just bought a slightly used 2021 CRF 300L and love the little motorcycle. The suspension is not as bad as everyone says. Yes, it is soft but very pleasant. I weigh 269 pounds and the suspension supports me fine for highway and smooth grass trails. It may bottom out on bumps but who cares. I am not planning jumps at 68 years old lol. The gearing is taller than my Kawasaki x300 Versys. I plan to lower the CRF this week because my inseam is a mere 29" and I cannot flat foot this bike. I had the same issue with my Kawasaki until I lowered it. Soupy's makes great lowering links for both these motorcycles. I have owned the largest BMW adventure and cruiser bikes, Harley Sportster and Honda Goldwing and these little adventure bikes are far nicer to own and ride. Both bikes are more than capable and more fun than a barrel of monkeys!!

    When I was deciding on a dual sport it was between this, the WR250 and the KLX300. I ultimately picked the KLX 300 based on the better suspension seat height, and price. The WR was just too tall for me (5'9" 32" inseam) and was considerably more expensive than the KLX or the CRF. The CRF had a nice seat height but that suspension was a deal breaker. Honda should have spent the gas gauge/gear indicator/ABS money on better suspension instead.

So far it's much better than my klx. Feels faster, too. I'm 6'2" so the taller seat height is a plus for me. Think I'll cancel the order for the crf. Dont need 3 dual sports, do I?

    • @chriskennedy3018
      @chriskennedy3018 Před 2 lety

      @@KingFriday274 any mods done to the wr? It is probably the faster of the two stock, but I think with modifications the klx can put more torque and power. I can’t see any concrete info for sure though.

      I got a 2017 CRF250L & had to get rid of the Showa suspension (front & rear) - put Ohlins & soooo much better. Why Honda only went with one front spring in the forks is a mistake imo. I do some enduro stuff with it, but it is noooo comparison to my KTM450EXC-R. That is my fav for enduro. The Honda I use for work commute & use it off-road when I am too lazy to load my KTM (stripped down & not played).

    • @BruceHoult
      @BruceHoult Před 2 lety +1

      KLX stock suspension is better, of course. YammieNoob says he'd rather have the CRF300L be $6500 and come with good suspension instead of $5100. I disagree. The stock suspension is fine for many people forever and if it was $6500 they wouldn't have that option. You can upgrade to the pretty damn good suspension of your choice for $1400 aftermarket. I upgraded the stock shock on my 250 Rally with a stronger spring for a 130 kg rider (285 in 'murican), a 2nd RaceTech spring in the forks, and upgraded valving all round for US$950 including labour from MotoSR in Taupo NZ. Night&day. Now you can hit whoops at speed without the tail kicking, jump off ledges without bottoming etc. I also only paid US$4200 registered and taxed and on the road for my 2019 250 Rally brand new in mid 2020 (last one the shop had), so it *still* with upgraded suspension only owes me $5150 (plus the two sets of tyres I've been through in 8500 km).

    The reason I don’t buy the Honda over the XT250 was the seat height. The Honda was more attractive with its features but as an older rider at 5’7” it’s to tall for me. If you’re not going to much highway riding I think the Yamaha is a better beginning bike my riding experience is 45 years.

  • @pappaclutch3266
    @pappaclutch3266 Před 2 lety

    Yup that’s why I like my 2022 XT250. If I drop it out in the boonies I just pick it up, throw it over my shoulder and walk out.
    That break line makes me laugh, seems like a major oversight. My XT has the bunch of break line along the fork. I guess it could get caught up on a bush but I’d rather have it down there then up in my face.

    It is a great bike, but for some one starting out I think the KTM 300 Adventure would be a better pick, unless you wanted to do a lot of gnarly trails then the CRF300L but the KTM 300 Adventure is a lot nice on the road has a much bigger gas tank, and better seat. It is a bike that you do have to ring its neck to get the best out of it but that is good for some learning to ride Keeping the revs down and great for learning and once you get some riding time under your belt you can ring its neck and feel the get up and go. I use mine on dirt and gravel roads and some easy trails, did put Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires on it, I also put GIVI 33/46 liter hard bags that slip on and off so go with or with out, so it also makes a great light weight ADV bike and 400+ Km per tank of gas. I am adding a CRF300L to my stable but setting it up for 90 % off road and 10% on road the only road it will see is getting to and from the trails. It is always great to have 3 in the stable, my other ride is a DR650 width a 20 liter gas tank use for the really bad dirt roads, tractor trails, and also on the road it has the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires on it. The CRF300L will have Dunlop 606 rear and Pirelli M21 front. Great video thank you,

    It is a shame Honda can't put a spring and damper cartridge in each fork leg like Kawasaki does on their 300 dual sport. The Honda fork legs keep putting a bending force on the front axle due to one leg being sprung and the other being damped.
