Waiters are not your personal slave. I hate being interrupted when I'm dining out. Please pay your service workers a decent wage rather then them having to rely on diners generosity. Pathetic

The apartment I'm in is a fix shower head but I bought an adjustable one and had one of the maintenance guys put it in for me.

Flip flop? 😳 I think she meant to say thongs. No Australian would ever call them flip flops.

The name flip-flops is probably picking up through all the ex-South Africans in Australia now.

City Extra is a restaurant at Circular Quay in Sydney and I believe is open 24/7. Prices reflect this.
Halloween isn’t big here, but the supermarkets and stores that sell costumes and decorations really do a lot of advertising for it at that time of the year. Some people do celebrate it. You can get refills of soft drink(sodas) at Costco, but I’ve never seen it at fast food places here. Our credit cards have an embedded chip that allows us to tap to pay for goods and services under $100 and major supermarkets the maximum is $200. Alternatively those who are tech savvy can have that function on their phone and tap using their phone rather than a physical credit card. You do have to use your PIN number if it’s over the max amounts. Other things I’ve read about the USA is that people get their wage by a physical cheque, then go to the bank to get their money, whereas in Australia depending on your employer, it’s electronically transferred to your bank account. Even if I get a cheque for something, I can deposit it at the bank ATM and withdraw any cash I need without having to go in to a see a teller.

America has tap to pay too, where you put your card against the reader and it goes through without swiping or entering the chip. Apple Pay and Samsung/google pay where we tap our phones is also a thing. Electronic direct deposits are also a thing in US. Some business pay their employees with paychecks too. Online banking apps allow for depositing physical checks on the app instead of going to the bank.

" Alternatively those who are tech savvy can have that function on their phone and tap using their phone rather than a physical credit card." Hacking a mobile phone is easier than ever and It's all the rage with young "tech-savvy" people.

Three feet is 36 inches one meter is 39 inches. The US uses 'freedom units' while the rest of the world uses the metric system even the British know how to use the metric system now.

Common Americans say 4th of July and not July 4th! Just saying!

As for you having to sign after paying the BILL it just sounds like America dosen’t clocked onto having a Micro Chip in your Bank Cards works because all u have to do is tap the card onto a card reader ?.
