My dad passed nearly two years ago, a year after my sister unexpectedly passed & 9 days after my daughter was born.

I first heard your song in january 2023. Im in the military and around this time i found out my buddy who ive been with since basic training was moving to another base. Maybe it sounds strange but this song gave me this calm mind to know that we see each other again. Even the text kinda fits since i remember the day i met him in my unit at the oak tree where we mostly meet for tasks. The first song i learned on the guitar to play it for him was this one to show him how much he means to me. We met again 1 month ago and the first song we heard together was this one. I don't know why, but this song made me remember a friend of mine that I forgot about many years ago. When I was a kid, there was this girl at the martial arts place that had hearing aids. I was just shy in general and despite that, she wanted to be my first friend. We hung out a lot before and after classes doing what kids do: run around, adventure, and just laugh. She was my first friend there and my closest. After the martial arts dojo got shut down, I never saw her again. Now it has been 9 years. I cant help but to feel that everyday when I run a few miles, we may have passed each other without realizing. Hearing this song made me realize that I miss her, not in some creepy romantic way, but how anyone would miss their best friend. I just visited the place that used to be the martial arts dojo (now its a carpet store). I wish I could meet her again, and have one last adventure.

I listed to this song almost every day during the pandemic. It was such a challenging time and so much uncertainty. It gave me hope and the strength to keep pushing through another day. I am so grateful to still be here, unlike so many we lost since then.

I served in the Army. I was tormented, physically and psychologically abused, to the point of trying to take my own life. I was called worthless and treated worse than dirt in an environment where I was away from friends and family, far away from home and country. The military was supposed to be a band of brothers and sisters but that wasn't the case for me. I gave 110% of my mind, body and soul but it was all for naught.
I was awesome at my job, top of my class, saved others from their depression or from killing themselves, commended for my community service but at the end of the day I was worse than trash. None of that mattered because something as simple as not being able to run. For that alone, I had no worth and no value. A stupid number on a test that had nothing to do with my job.
I'm not a soldier, but I'm fighting. Can you hear me through the silence?
This line resonates with me. Despite my best efforts, the others I helped through their depression, I wasn't treated as a soldier. I was called a waste of tax payers' dollars to my face in front of others multiple times. Humiliated, belittled and looked down upon. I was continuously called worthless and treated with distain. I was lost, alone and felt like there was nothing left. Luckily, I got out and was given a honorable discharge after an investigation was held against my abusers. It took me a long time to recover from that, in some ways I still am.
This song, and ones like it helped me through my recovery. I took my experience and used it to help others out of their torment. I turned my burden into tool to help others.

I am now in a stable point in my life. I have an awesome job where I can support myself and a family. I have a loving fiancé to whom I'll be married to next year.

I've been feeling depressed lately like I've lost touch with myself and the happiness I used to have. For some reason listening to this song while I was working I heard the lyrics like it was me calling to the me I've left behind and I could see a glimpse of him back over the horizon. I felt a ping of assurance, of hope, and of happiness. As if to say "I'm right over here, come find me." And I knew I'd make it through.
