    The kind of bowler who used to run in wanting to bowl fast every ball. A fellow Aussie player said about him "In State cricket batsmen were frightened of him. He once yorked someone and the ball hit the foot, blood was seeping through the batsman's sock" That's how scary fast this guy was! It's such a shame his career was affected by injuries due to his 'mixed' bowling action.
    Thank you Shaun Tait for the memories. You were a treat to watch in your pomp!

      mixed bowling action? Didn't understand

    • @Farrakh-ch2ti
      @Farrakh-ch2ti Před 9 měsíci +62

      I'm no expert on the biomechanics of bowling so I will try to explain the best I can.
      In bowling you have 2 types of action. The front on action, chest facing towards the batsman ,
      or the side on slingy action , where the chest is facing more towards the umpire at delivery stride.
      When you are bowling front on your top and bottom half of the body should be aligned. So if your chest is facing the batsman and your toes towards the umpire it's going to cause a lot of stress on the body.
      The same applies to the side on slingy action. If the top half of your body isn't aligned with the bottom it's going to cause injuries.
      This is just my opinion, but I think although Shaun Tait had a slingy release his action was neither front or side on. He suffered from injuries in his career, mainly knee, because of this.
      Look at the longevity of some of the greatest fast bowlers
      James Anderson
      Glenn McGrath
      Courtney Walsh
      All smooth, fluid, front on bowlers.

    I will not reduce my speed to elongate my career: Shaun Tait. His commitment to speed and tear away bowling is rare today. Most coaches in school or at college level ask young bowlers to not stick to speed , rather swing it. The best art of cricket is now dead. Such speed bowling raises excitement even a cricket hater in a cricketing country would love to see the speed and how the batsman tackles it. It is just the greatest form of battle in cricket. Every country should appreciate tear away bowling and bring out such bowlers on the biggest stage. This will revive cricket.

    • @shaundgb7367
      @shaundgb7367 Před 5 měsíci +4

      Disagree. Dennis Lillee was clearly a tear away quick in his youth but after back injuries he restructured his whole way of bowling action so that he could return to the top. Sure he clearly was not as quick but his action was better, he was still fast, just not as fast as he once was. His skill more than made up for any pace he lost as a veteran when I saw him in the late 70's and early 80's. He could swing the ball both ways, cut it off the pitch and virtually anything. If he had just closed his mind in his mid twenties as a person to maintain pace at all costs he would never have developed the overall skill that made him truly great. There been plenty of bowlers that can bowl quick but actually do not have much more skill with the bowling than pace alone. Tait did swing the ball at pace so always liked that about him but he did not have as much control as one would want so he never really excited me much except for the speed reached.

    Shaoib akhter delivered 161.3 km/h and Shaun Tait delivered 161.1 km/h. What's the big difference?? Its almost same. Second thing Shoaib Akhtar did with full length delivery and Shaun Tait did with good length delivery. Now u gonna say, so what?? Full length delivery cover all speed and good length delivery reduce the speed after ball hit on the pitch. No doubt Shoaib Akhtar was most dangerous bowler and batsman scared to him coz he always tried to hit the Batsman nd give them brutal damage with full intention. An interview he said he wanted to kill Sachin. Bowler who had speed but no ethics !!

      @@ahzamali2375abe lode wo sahi bol raha hai. 161.3 ke alawa akhter ki koi accheivmets nahi hai. Bas 178 test wickets lene wala legend kaise ho gya?? 130 ki speed se dalne wale macgrath ke paas 563 test wickets hai. Agar Shoaib Akhtar legend hai to 600+ test wickets lene wale Stuart broad or Jimmy Anderson kon hai?? Isko to balaji or Harbhajan ne hi bhot pela hai. Agar ye t-20 khelta to bhot pitai hoti iski. Shoaib Akhtar ka action ban hua tha. Uske baad akhter ne apna action change kia. Ye do baar dope me failed ho gya tha. Jiske liye ban bhi hua tha cricket se. Shaoib Akhter dangerous bowler sirf isliye tha kyu iski intention hi batsman ko hurt karne ki hoti thi. Jo isne khud kai baar bola hai interview me. Kumble ke 600+ test wickets hai. Pakistan ka ek bhi bowler bata de jiske paas 600+ test wickets ho. Even Harbhajan has 400+ test wickets. Us time ke batsman defensive cricket khelte the. Aaj ke batsmans hote to 20 - 25 matches baad hi akhter ka career khtam ho jata. Legendary bowler bas ek hi Wasim Akram. Dil se respect hai Wasim Akram ke liye

    Saw him bowl at The 7evens in DXB when he played for the MCC in the Emirates T20. He was way past his prime but he still had that scary pace and that legendary delivery stride was something else to watch. Pure joy in cricket is when there’s a respectful battle between a lightning quick fast bowler and a formidable batsman. I don’t think I’ve seen Tait flustered or overreacting either. He did his job for his team when needed. Mostly celebrated his wickets without getting in the face of a batsman or saying nasty things. The wild thing in his prime was a sight to behold indeed!

    A few mates and I once went to a place in Melbourne called bar n ball, in the late 80’s, this was when bowling machines were first invented, you could set the speed as high as you could brave it, we’d set it to 100mph and tell each other where we were placing it, and Jesus at first you couldn’t see the ball, after a while you got used to it but only if the ball feeder told you short outside of off stump, imagine walking into face Shaun Taite and first ball is 97mph consistently
