As I recall Oda is actually the one who suggested the voice actor for Bon Clay play Franky, he said in an SBS that he heard Bon Clay and thought he was perfect for Franky.

Usopp thinks of the Merry as a crewmate. Seeing the others so ready to abandon their crewmate once they're of no use is literally how he sees it. In his mind, if their all willing to abandon the Merry, why wouldn't they do the same to him when he inevitably(in his mind) drags them down and holds them back.

By the way when I first watched this part I was so surprised Cyborgs were a part of this universe but we've actually seen one before and perhaps a second one as well. Laboon was a cyborg and Don Krieg said he had weapons built into his body so he may have been a cyborg rather than just having weapons built into his armor.

Well, TECHNICALLY the tallest straw hat is the "human" form of Chopper... AND he's equally bulky as the masked dude. So it could be Robin and Chopper. When I saw this for the first time as a kid, I did wonder if she somehow talked Chopper into it secretly for a bit 😅
