This is, without question, one of the _BEST_ boss fights I've fought in any RPG. The way it utilizes all 8 characters completely blows the first game out of the water, and it leads to one of the most unique fights I've done in a very long time.

I might have to do that. I sent my "ringer" squad of level 76 Partitio, Agnea, and Hikari with level 52 Ochette. I didn't realize all 8 would be involved, so my other 4 are 67 Casti and 50 and under everybody else. I had a merchant in both groups (Temenos) but my second group got hit too hard to use that skill.
There are a lot of elements that makes this game so unique and you can see the huge effort the developers gave to this game. Since the characters leaving in reverse order you meet them in the ending, the full epilogue part with everyone gathering around to see Agnea's debut, how your main says a farewell to the player and responds to Oboro before the final starts. But my favorite has to be Vide assuming a more serious battle stance once his/her life is nearly gone because he/she realizes the 8 travelers are not pushovers, they can actually surpass the Gods and bring a new Dawn to a dark night.
Lets not forget the Credits where you can see the bosses in the order you defeated them, with which team and with wich jobs! It was to see my Throne appears in all of them hahaha
Transition at 7:30 - "The final battle begins" - 8:25 - "Even the Dawn will be mine". Goosbumps. I don't think I got that particular line out of Throne, but she said "I'll fight a god if I must" a couple of times. Oh, Throne..
Spoiler warning… but you’re in this final boss video sooo…. There were a few times the voice acting in this game just pushed me over the edge. Like when Osvald is standing outside of his house in the very beginning and the pain in his scream. Or during Castti and Ochette’s last crossed paths part, and Castti is running through the dark woods and she heard voices, the woman screaming “I WANT MY HUSBAND BACK!” The voice acting in this game is just unreal.

Dang I just beat this game last week. The final boss fight and ending was awesome. This is game of the year for me. I also noticed at the end, Agnea looks almost exactly like her mother now.
Oooh interesting so it seems like the campfire scene is different depending on the order you recruit the travelers. The last traveler you recruit leaves the campfire first, and the protagonist leaves last.
Wait, I didn't notice (except for the protagonist one). It felt so natural since they went away in this order: Agnea, Partitio, Hikari, Osvald, Temenos, Throné, Ochette and Castti. Temenos looked at Throné and said "There is something I'd like to say, but I think I'll keep it until we meet again" and Throné nodded at him. Exactly the same as Live a Live. Astounding they kept the same spirit nearly 30 years on. Makes sense; that's how connected each of them is to the group.

I either have to reconfigure teams, or grind my bottom five up to the 70s.
No, I beat the boss with a lvl 55~ on average team, you need to elaborate a strategy and prepare yourself accordingly. Grab accessories (the best I got was the accessory in the infernal castle in the snow area) and build strategy around your team. For this phase, the easiest thing I've found is to Sealtige's Grace on Temenos and Heal beyond the HP Cap. Don't forget to give equipments to boost his elemental defense
@Powa I tried again splitting my team a different way and I rolled through stage 1 and 2. For stage 3, my entire team got wiped three times before healing multiples became impossible. I leveled my under 60s to above 60s. Couldn't get past stage 1. I can't find a way. If I concentrate on offense I get wiped, and if I concentrate on defense I get wiped harder and faster.
@Powa I took a day off and gave it another go. This time, I blew through stage one. Stage two was a little tougher. Three was brutal, but I beat it (with Osvald and Ochette KO'd). I mostly used merchant Hired Help, and Soul Stones.
Big tip they saved my ass is Agnea using the Archanist class. You use latent power + reflexive shield. Your second phase team becomes nearly untouchable and deals damage straight back.
I beat Vide a few days ago and man I was wishing that my starter (Hikari) landed the finishing strike, but Agnea did it ; ; But reading "The final battle begins..." AND "You can use the 8 travelers for this fight" What it is? AN AMAZING FINAL BOSS.
fun fact for this battle i removed all my B team's items so they had nothing on so my A team could battle this boss with the best stuff.....then he switched my team and i got my ass handed to me.
Didn't know the third phase of the boss has sprite change at 50% health... The boss just died in a single break, and i didn't get to see the change lol
I finally beat this boss after attempting 3-4 other times. The key is to use abilities to lower all shields, such as Ochettes special ability, beastly hired help ability of merchant, Agneas kick, and of course hitting him with weaknesses. On the 2nd form, make sure to heal often. Try to defeat both arms at the same time so you can switch to other team while the other one sits out on curses. Try not to freak out with no revive curse. I noticed it does go away after while. Just keep focusing on healing and bringing down shield points!!
Finished game yesterday and while sad its over I really loved is as someone who out off rpg for a long awhile( hakari and paritio died near end of the fight but love fight tho)
To be honest didn’t know full mechanics of the game. Spent like 40-50 hours to get here, 10 days after release. Didn’t know how to use cassti at the time. 🥲
What level did you fight it at? I just beat him after a bunch of tries with temenos at 71 and everyone else ranging from 55 to 60. I found the second half of the first part specifically to be very challenging, though my party was kinda unoptimized in some aspects and I was too lazy to get grinding
@@rjante2236 Yeah that checks out... but still, maybe the final boss should scale on difficulty depending on the level of your party. Heck, I think they should implement that for most bosses in the game

Vide is the Final boss and Galdera is an Optional Superboss. As for why there are two dark gods i dont really have an answer for you. Maybe this game plays in an Alternate Universe, An Alternate timeline or maybe the Writing is just inconsistent.
Vide and Orsa (Galdera's mother) may have come from "nothingness". While Orsa created a land of her own and had children (OT1 & CotC), Vide might have remained in their dimension until summoned
Cheapest battle in RPG history. I don't like giving up on games, but I'm thinking about it with this one, because I don't want to grind levels for another 5 hours.

Great game but they made it way too hard. To the point that only specific strategies done perfectly correct can win, but if not perfect ur dead no matter how strong ur party is. I liked Octopath 1 boss better but was tough but could be done with just raw power
I can't say I agree. My team makeup for this fight for both characters per quartet and their subclasses was completely different from the makeup in this video and I managed. It wasn't a walk in the park but it felt like a fair challenge.

This is terrible, major points against the game for this fight. For the "hidden" boss of the first game making it a hard challenge made sense but here it feels impossible unless you did everything in the game(I did everything except a couple of dungeons), at the length of this game that's ridiculous ask of the player.
Damn merchant is even more op in this game ☠️
I beat Vide a few days ago and man
I was wishing that my starter (Hikari) landed the finishing strike, but Agnea did it ; ;
But reading "The final battle begins..." AND "You can use the 8 travelers for this fight"
What it is?
Oh the character at 33:15 changes depend on who you chose as your first, cool. In my case Hikari calls the win.
Agnea max boost divine skill + Arcanist Reflect will help you A LOT
Winning strategy for me. Having Armsmaster Hikari with deal more damage ability too deals 10,000+ with nearly every skill attack
so this is where you spent all the money
Finished game yesterday and while sad its over I really loved is as someone who out off rpg for a long awhile( hakari and paritio died near end of the fight but love fight tho)
Who else took 4 hrs to beat this one hell of a boss?
8:00
man listen the run in hits DIFFERENT
It's at the end that it hit me. I (me the player) am the Octopath Traveler. Pretty cool.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love the part where Vide said "It's duskin time" and duskin all over Solistia
What does Ochette have that causes permanently boosted spells?
Stone or Truth, can be obtained at the Infernal Castle below the Stormhail
Does vide have back story? Or is it Just an entity that wants to consume everything?
this was painful to watch, nice song tho
what is the battle theme for this boss called?
Vide, the Wicked(Phase 1)
Those Who Hope for the Dawn (Transition)
Those Who Deny the Dawn (Phase 2)
@@zeronova7279 thank you
We need a DLC
9:01 you could've concocted something to give 2 BP to your whole team for free & you did that
And remedy with Castti is a better (even though random) way to get double BP per turn
To be honest didn’t know full mechanics of the game. Spent like 40-50 hours to get here, 10 days after release. Didn’t know how to use cassti at the time. 🥲
This fight was disappointingly easy
Edit: Now that I think about it though, I did fight the secret boss before this one so that may be why haha
What level did you fight it at? I just beat him after a bunch of tries with temenos at 71 and everyone else ranging from 55 to 60. I found the second half of the first part specifically to be very challenging, though my party was kinda unoptimized in some aspects and I was too lazy to get grinding
@@system_ai9248 I was at Level 70 for everyone.
@@rjante2236 Yeah that checks out... but still, maybe the final boss should scale on difficulty depending on the level of your party. Heck, I think they should implement that for most bosses in the game
@@system_ai9248 Tbh I kind of figured I overprepared due to a certain secret boss rearing its ugly head. That being said, scaling the boss to your party level would have been cool. Ah well, it can't be helped.
Jjaja
GOTY!
Lol Level 99. 😁😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thrashed this guy last week at around level 55-58. Absolutely incredible finale
Sooooo, my muscle memory kicked in after beginning the final mission, and I saved over my actual save 💀
So now I'm left here grinding with no music, because I'm extremely under-leveled. I still think the game is incredible. I'm just a bit stupid is all.
Same thing happened to me. It all worked out, just made it much harder
I am at this situation right now 😂
Looks like it's much easier than Galdera. I honestly wanted it to be much harder
Because Galdera is harder in Octopath 2
It's easier because it's a real final boss this time, galdera was and is a secret superboss.
There is another boss, you must do side quest relate to Al(npc).
Harder than Galdera from OT1. Please enjoy!.
Cos theres galdera in octopath 2 also 😂
@@arawit69where is the npc?
most characters level 99... I wonder why you had such an easy time ;)
To be fair, mine were 70-75, and I also had an easy time.😂
Capitalism goes Brrrrr
which is final boss Galdera or Vide? why there are 2 god of darknes?
Vide is the Final boss and Galdera is an Optional Superboss. As for why there are two dark gods i dont really have an answer for you. Maybe this game plays in an Alternate Universe, An Alternate timeline or maybe the Writing is just inconsistent.
I was under the impression that Galdera was Vide's child.
Vide and Orsa (Galdera's mother) may have come from "nothingness". While Orsa created a land of her own and had children (OT1 & CotC), Vide might have remained in their dimension until summoned
Bro ur already lvl 99
Not hard with our friend Alrond
Alrond the MVP loool easy level up to max
mofo keeps giving me JP x 2 😝
@@SILVERONIN "easy" if you dont talk about the pain of spending hours to get the x100 exp in the first place
@@SevoraLF HA-HA-HAAAAAAA! EXPx100!
My team was lv50-60ish
Yeah I just watched this video and this person is waaaay over levelled. Like getting to 97 takes excessive amounts of grinding.
@TheLonelyGoomba Beaten game in a week after release cos of almond farm.
@@lilfarmboi1081 Tbh I didn't know
Alrond farming was a thing till your comment and I looked into it. That would make sense.
Cheapest battle in RPG history. I don't like giving up on games, but I'm thinking about it with this one, because I don't want to grind levels for another 5 hours.
This boss is too easy, I didn't really go leveling. Kill him at level like 62 without set my formation, skill and he death. Only the hidden boss is challenging.
Was your whole team at Lv 62? Seems kinda high for this boss. Vide was kinda tough for me, but my team didn't crack Lv 50 bar Castti
Bewildering grace 100x exp on
Osvald Chapter 4 Grieving Golem Boss
czcams.com/video/476ayp6HNs0/video.html
Got lucky and got the 100x exp on another boss before grieving golem
That's bs that first phase can really fuck you up
@gamerprince1999 I think people were expecting Galdera 2, but Vide was balanced around being the end of the story and not the gatekeeper of skill. _Of course Galdera is back and on steroids so if they want a challenge they can get one._
Don’t get it. All my chars are in the 90s. This guy wipes the floor with me in phase one. No fucking chance.
I could pull an EXP x100 on this boss EASY
I pulled one on a Cthulu resoawn
I did pull it
... how the hell am I supposed to beat this? Hats off to you but I call bullshit on the developers.
Glad I played for the awesome stories (except Agnea. Agnea sucks so bad) but no regrets I gave up on phase one of this.
NON-SENSICAL.
The last 2 chapter where not so bad : P
@@johnyjohny7472 I am happy you liked them but I couldn't, I eventually started skipping dialogues. And Agnea also has the hardest character final boss.
Agnea sucks. Everyone has an actual story with an arc and problems and she’s like „I wanna be a famous dancer.“ Just beat this boss btw. In minutes. Just spammed the Assassins, wasted pretty much a million leafes, yet they annihilated him. Not my party mind you, none of those characters I spent 95 hours developing, no, just a bunch of hired thieves. Pathetic.
@@sebastianalhares Agnea was a sigh of relief with everyone in the party having suffered in some way shape or form, with some being more wholesome than others (partitio), whereas watching Throne was just depressing period. I mean Tressa filled Agnea's role in the first game, albeit the first game wasn't nearly as good as the second
@@michaelward2898 Yes, Agnea was the heart of the party. I really like her.
CZcams sucks!!!
This is terrible, major points against the game for this fight. For the "hidden" boss of the first game making it a hard challenge made sense but here it feels impossible unless you did everything in the game(I did everything except a couple of dungeons), at the length of this game that's ridiculous ask of the player. Sit there for an hour, die and repeat a couple of times and I'm just gonna give up. Ridiculous
Lost on it so I'm just going to watch the ending. Not doing another 30 minute battle when it can just fuck over my characters with consecutive attacks if it feels like it and I can't revive.
yea, same here, I liked the game up until this boss, not sure why bosses like these are a thing where a single bad turn can make you lose 20+mins of progress
@@kek651 I got super unlucky figuring out the weaknesses of the second round of hands and it just starting focusing my strongest characters to death. After 90 hours I was ready to be done with the game.
The cleric's prayer to the flame buff with agnea's latent power really allowed my party (all 8 members) to survive all of its attacks. only Throne ended up dying near the end for me. tbh i found the first phase was waaaay harder for me.
Erm… my all character around 80 lvl. Merchant and Cait abilities is super OP. So I didn’t lose
I love jrpgs but the length of the last boss fights is always a huge turn off for me
