      We missed snow a week earlier, rain and clouds after our trek, and were really lucky to get the perfect weather while in the Himalayas. It was hard to believe the sky was so perfect the day we summited Gokyo Ri, and the view was probably the best we've ever seen!

    So amazing! One of the best EBC videos I have watched. Thank you so much for introducing the names of the mountains. The porters carry the backpacks and luggages for the guests to help them to succeed the treks. They deserve good tips for their hard work.

      The porters are so incredibly talented and helpful and definitely deserve large tips...and especially now when tourism is slow. Our porters were so much fun, singing, dancing, and just enjoying their time with us. It's still unbelievable how strong they are and how much they can carry despite their size. Truly incredible people!

      Thanks! Yes, Gokyo Ri's summit was incredible, probably the best view we've had while hiking. Surprisingly few people go that route when headed up to Everest Basecamp. Next trek on our list is Ausangate down in Peru, it'll be fun to be back in a country where you can legally fly drones without much hassle.

      That's great, so happy our videos can inspire you like that! After a ton of research we decided to do the Gokyo ValleyCho La Pass route to EBC instead of the traditional route and we are so happy we did. The terrain has more variety and the views, especially on Gokyo Ri, were probably the best we've ever seen. If you're hiring a guide, we highly recommend Life Himalaya Trekking, they did an incredible job and made our trip the best it could be. Good luck!

    • @lylesuch4421
      @lylesuch4421  Před rokem

      Yeah, that was a strenuous leg. As we were arriving in Dole we were pretty exhausted but the view was so perfect looking back down the valley that instead of going to rest we stayed out in the freezing cold to shoot a timelapse and it was one of the best ones we shot on the trip. Each day had it's own challenges. I think we were the most tired, surprisingly, at the end of the day after going over Cho La Pass. We anticipated a shorter day, and every time we thought we would reach Zongla around the next bend it wouldn't be there and the day was a long one. Nothing tasted better than the spaghetti that night!

    Really enjoying your video. I did the conventional EBC trek some years back so the terrain in part 1 was familiar and a lot of other things bring back great memories. The young lady has a warm spirit to bring one along and I think your photography is gorgeous - not just the terrain but how you present it.

      Thanks! We started making our travel videos mostly so we can look back one day and remember the experience. It's great to know it's allowing others to relive their experiences as well. If you've been there you know, it's hard to take a bad picture in the Himalayas! I bet the terrain hasn't changed much...it seems like it's kind of stuck in a time capsule (in a good way).

Yes, EBC is an incredible and unforgettable experience, even better if you get to see the area around Gokyo Lakes, summit Gokyo-Ri and experience Cho La Pass. Hopefully you have great weather and a successful trip when you go in the spring. If you're looking for a trekking company, we were extremely happy with ours (Lifehimalayatrekking) and highly recommend going up Gokyo Valley for the extra scenery. Good luck!!

      Thanks! We just use a Canon 5d MKIV. It's very old at this point and there are much better quality cameras, but it's reliable and pretty much indestructible. The thing is, you can get amazing shots with just about any device in the Himalayas, it's just finding the best light possible and holding the camera steady.

    Do you want to share your pakking list. Because the Gokyo Chola Pass route is longer than the way straight to Everest base camp….

    • @lylesuch4421
      @lylesuch4421  Před rokem

      Thanks! Generally you can go to any trekking company website for Nepal and they'll give you a pretty standard packing list. Ours doesn't really match with most people's needs so we tend to not put it out there. That said, the Gokyo Valley trek to EBC, while a little longer, requires exactly the same gear as the traditional EBC route. Since you're staying in tea houses and have access to food, electricity, sometimes wifi, and all the amenities, as long as you have the basic layers for warmth/sun protection and general hiking, you're good no matter how long the trek is. You can literally show up in Lukla with no gear and purchase everything you need there which makes it easy if you forget anything. A couple of necessities from our experience are a roll of your own toilet paper, and sunscreen. Two very important things to have.
      If you're planning to do the Gokyo Valley route, you're making a great decision. The scenery is gorgeous, you get better views than the traditional EBC, and by the time you reach EBC, you're already very much acclimatized. Good luck!!

    • @lylesuch4421
      @lylesuch4421  Před 2 lety +1

      You can just find a company in Kathmandu...but we did months of research and communication with the trekking company we found to be the best for our needs. Our choice was Life Himalaya Trekking, they were very excellent at working out a custom trip for us based on our fitness and wanting to see the more beautiful areas. In our travels, we've learned that the company you choose is extremely important, so just choosing randomly on the spot can result in a mismatch between your group and your guides. We also booked city tours and a road trip to Lumbini with Life Himalaya...they were amazing!!
