- The Bluebell Railway's first event of the year provided an excellent showcase of historic steam traction, both on and off the rails. 'Road Meets Rail' saw a variety of steam traction engines gathered at Horsted Keynes station, with road building and wood cutting demonstrations throughout the event. In the paddock field, various fair ground attractions congregated as well as refreshment kiosks and a beer tent.
On the rails, an intensive timetable was in use, with two service trains operating along the railway; these were planned to be handled throughout by 4MT Tank - 80151 and S15 - 847. However, the latter proved problematic in the morning, with O1 - 65 and Q Class - 30541 covering duties in the S15's absence. The O1 would later take the helm of a wedding special for the day, for Evan & Theresa, as part of their celebrations - and wishing the happy couple all the best. In addition, 30541 provided shunting demonstrations within the station limits of Horsted Keynes, adding to the authentic feel of the event.
Locomotives:
BR Standard Class 4MT Tank - 80151
SE&CR O1 Class - 65
Ex-SR Q Class - 30541
SR S15 Class - 847

Brilliant coverage as usual. Great how you combine trains and trees. Good to see my local steam railway (well 1/2 an hour away) busy again. All the best Mick.🇬🇧
Thank you. We are blessed with our countryside - would seem a shame to ignore it, when it adds some serenity to the videos. It's good to see the Bluebell back.
Ah so it was you I kept seeing standing in the fields during the day. Nice.
These cameras get everywhere
Awesome footage Matthew, looking forward to October when Clan Line is visiting the Bluebell.
Glorious, simply glorious! Thanks!
Thanks very much
Beautiful countryside and artistically framed footage.
Thank you for your video.
Much cleaner than when British Railways owned them!.
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it.
Greatly video, sir Thans for uploading, my self working in INDIAN RAILWAYS AS A SENIOR SECTION ENGINEER.

Excellent footage sir. Even saw myself a couple of times. Superb event and look forward to it happening again..
Thanks very much! Certainly was an entertaining event!
Good to know steam engines are still around!!
The beautiful Bluebell back in action
It's great to see them back again.
Bluebell’s rake of Bullied coaches look superb.
It sure is good to see them in service together. They do a great job looking after their rolling stock.
Amazing. I wish I had been along the whole line, having only been for two stations.
Cheers! It's well worth a full line trip. Kingscote is particularly suited for "Classic Station Scene" photography.
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel Ah, yes. Because I remember...this railway has been used for the 2000 film of The Railway Children, which has been my favourite adaptation.
Interesting lamp code on 80151 at the end there; V for victory?
Loving it, quintessential Southern at its best aided by your usual high vid standard, I feel fully relaxed now.😏 Loving the goods footage, we need more of that, there's only so many Mk.1s you can put up with!!!! Hope you didn't get too much of a sweat on?!!!!!😥
It was a sweltering day - sunburned, but worth it. Thanks very much for the kind words, they're much appreciated! It was nice to see the spectrum of eras represented with the locomotives. With the freight movements being untimetabled, it made it inconvenient to film, albeit very pleasant to witness.
Nice one mate
Cheers

I presume it was authorized to pass that signal at danger at1:20
Yes it was, it had a authorised person on that down train and up to Horsted again on the following run on the Q
❤🚂👍
Can anyone tell me why they run the locomotive backward? No turn table?
The Bluebell Railway has no turntable.
S15s going rather well at 1630 onwards 😇
It's time steam is reintroduced full-time 😇
👍🏻

Do you know when the SECR C class is back in service?
