Can we just talk about how satisfying these sound effect are.
Yea, I think they turned out pretty great as well! I combined a few free sound samples and did some recordings in Audacity to create all the sound effects
I fully agree. Strangely soothing stone-scraping SFX 😅
Everyone starts a game dev project but leaves it in the middle. But this guys made a game with cubes and that is because he sticked with the project and made something. Game has feel. Nice!
Yea, the motivation has been like a rollercoaster. But if you accept that, and take breaks when it is needed, you can finish the development of a game. It worked for me at least 😄
The core gameplay here is so perfect for when moving the block and the interactions it has against eh other blocks. The only thing I would comment on would be maybe starting out the levels as only being 2D, camera pointed down at them, and once the player has a handle on that, surprise them with 3D movements.
That's a great idea! I actually have something similar already! The block that has a green "blob" in the middle actually makes it possible to switch between 3D and 2D in a level. And this is meant to be a game mechanic in itself. So, I currently have the exact opposite of what you propose. I start with 3D because. Than you unlock the power to switch to 2D to reach more stuff than you can only using a 3D view
@@Birchfruit-ec9gu I saw that in the trailer, it was amazing. It reminded me of Fez and Monument Valley for different reasons. If you haven't seen those games you should definitely check them out. They will inspire you.
Love the visuals and the sound effects, really inspiring!
Random idea: you could make birds getting out of the tree when you hit its block, and after a while they get back to it. Another one, you could add a small chance of breaking some part of the block after the collision, e.g the tree falls, some block parts fall apart
That's a great idea! It would add more "life" to the game and introduce movement. It could be a nice contrast from the otherwise simplistic environment. The same goes for the block breaking mechanic!
Wow! This is amazing! The game is looking so good, sounds are amazing and I really enjoyed the video! Will definitely be watching the next one
The mechanic is like ice movement but 3D*
*Disclaimer its not allways 3D...
Looks amazing! Really looking forward to playing it and tracking the progress
Ooh yes, I love this. 100% my style of game and it's looking super polished already!
Thank you!
Cool visuals and clean feeling!
Looking great!
It's BEAUTIFUL!!!
WELL DONE 👍
This is fantastic, dude! Good editing, and it's only the 3rd (2nd long form) video on your channel. Also, you just seem like a really friendly guy lol. Hats off to you!
this is super polished. Great work.
Youre the reason normal people are so insecure about their work and themselves, this is too perfect and beautiful. Everything is so gorgeously polished, and you did the things in your game that I always wished to do in my own but was too intimidated to go into learning how to, like the beautiful background, the particle effects, the perfect sound effects, the little tree wobbles, damn man... So jealous, wish I could do things like that without burning out in a day.
This is super polished. Incredible work
Thank you!
Looks really good!
Such a great video
Well Done! the game looks fun :)
The Game looks so nice 👍 You are great
Thanks!
Hey, great dev log. I'm sure the channel is going to grow quickly. Two things for you.
1. It's not exactly the same, but is the matching up brick mechanic you have essentially a version of Sokoban?
2. do you have any tips on what you use to get the visualisations at around the 1:53 section. Super clean!!
Thank you!
1. The brick requires the player to hit it twice. I haven't played a lot of Sokoban games, but from what I've seen, it seems like you're moving boxes. I have another block that is more or less the same as the one in Sokoban.
2. Yeah, Apple Motion! It's a great tool, but for the next devlog, I'll be testing "Motion Canvas," where you can create animations using code!
@@Birchfruit-ec9gu yeah, definitel not a one to one but Sokoban was the first and closest thing that comes to mind. Otherwise I think you have a pretty unique puzzle situation going on.
And thanks for the reply, I don't have Apple products so can't try that. But I have hear a lot on Motion Canvas, I tried it a while ago but the lack of docs took to long to get it up and running. Might try it again and see how it's improved.
Haa Lol, Seems like I am gonna be an early follower of this project, Looking forward :)
Welcome to the development journey of Cubicatch :)
Looks so good! :D

Wow looks really nice!
Thank you!
Cool! Great jobb Adam!
Thanks father!
looks really nice
Thank you!
wishlisted, nice work u put there, I would put more vibrant screenshots in your steam page and remove the "casual" steam tag, but that just a sugestion.
Thank you! I personally prefer simplistic and less colorful screenshots to achieve more of a "minimalistic" look. However, I've heard from others that they believe more vibrant images would be better. So, I will absolutely investigate that further.
I just guessed my way through when setting the tags. But now that you mention it, Cubicatch requires a bit more from the player than a traditional "casual" game would
@@Birchfruit-ec9gu Thank u, The looks of the game is beatilful, I give the sugestion bc I believe this game could be a huge success if marketing is done right, and i've been watching some videos from Chris Zukowski.
Nice! Well Done!
Thanks brother!
Spännande!
Wow ! Well Done
Thank you mother!

I really enjoyed your video and your Idea. Even if games like this exist, you're making it better with the visuals and the gameplay.
Is there any way to contact you?
you should make it that you have to use a certain number of moves. i think that would be cool.
Good idea! This could be a new block that requires you do complete a level in a certain number of moves. On the block you can see how many moves you have left
Imonerande
Would be nice if it had more interesting backgrounds
This is the most impressive video so far on how less you can achieve in two years. A block that moves left right up and down. 🤣 wow….😂
What a cringe comment. Who hurt you?
Imonerande
Thank you grandpa!
