It was nice to see the counter view at the end regarding cultural sensitivity at sacred locations and earthquakes .. however, I think there are suitable solutions for each.. like taking a 3x3 square slightly adjacent to the entrance of the 1st square is offensive and.. if the earth movies, well, you are going to be updating your address anyway..

It seems as though What3words has an impressive P.R. department who have released multiple similar stories of rescues performed by the emergency services with the aid of their application. Whether the app was as crucial in these rescues as has been portrayed may be a matter for some debate, and, in the interests of balance, we felt it appropriate to at least reference the potential negatives which may be lost in the tide of positive publicity. We are entirely impartial in his regard, and are neither promoting nor criticising the app, but rather trying to offer a balanced overview, so we felt entirely free to offer both sides of the argument. We’d also question whether any negative perceptions truly outweigh the benefits that this app can bring. If it has saved a single life, that’s absolutely incredible. If it hasn’t, does that diminish from its value in offering really simple navigation that anyone can follow? There’s plenty to be enthusiastic about with this app, even without the headline-grabbing life-and-death scenarios. As you rightly note, several of the criticisms are comparatively minor, and can be offset with a little creative thinking. On balance, whilst there may well be merit in the counter argument, we still wish What3words every success in their endeavours.
