My wife and I have become huge fans of your channel. We have went back to your first “homestead” videos and are loving them. I admire your fearlessness about attempting something new!!
Didn’t think I would like the change from boating to building. But here I am every Sunday watching, laughing and admiring. All the best to you both.
Same.
me too!@@mattman237
So many smiles. Thanks GBU!!
Hello guys, Im a local from PR! Love ur content! Just a tip... when we work outside and the temperature rise; we put on a wet shirt in our head to cool our body and to gain strenght. Try it please for your safety! God bless u, and keep woking 💪
I admire so much the way Kristen looks at you with so much love, it is the greatest gift of all. GOD bless y’all.
Hmmm , I was kinda thinking the opposite, Kristen wants an estate when Matt Would be happy with a shack and a plow .
I literally just said the same thing to my wife. One of my favourite parts of the channel for a llloonng time. Nice work on this video guys!
Bob Dylan the rock star, for a hobby welds a bunch of junk together and makes these cool gates, don't Laugh he gets 80 grand or more for a set, they are really cool, google it.Matt could do it just buy a welder and get a bunch of junk that's on yur property already. Check it out, save you a ton of cash for more cat food😅
Yea she does
was looking for a raw and real couple working together....finally found it here....Matt, i respect the fact you love that sledge hammer.
I'm going to need at least one more video a week. Waiting for Sunday is getting hard! Love you guys.
❤
The cats stashed in the chicken hutch is totally friggin hysterical!! 😂 Great idea to ensure nobody goes hungry.
I would definitely check for easement restrictions before continuing construction near the roadway and utility lines.
I agree on the easement comment. If you have a survey, it should be marked for both utilities and building lines. Been there, done that. Looks good!
@@arama255 don't think he operates that way... do it the hard way first, learn things later. It's a little frustrating to watch, yet here I am.
you could have all this work for nothing if you get a cease and desist order for a number of reasons (permit, survey code restriction on the wall itself) builder beware this is not the water ! good luck
Good Morning Matt & Kristen 😊 & all the GBU fans !!!!
Good morning William!
Good morning from Austin TX!❤
Good morning from East Tennessee
Good morning from chilly northeast Ohio.
Good Morning from Ethiopia. Actually it's noon here :-) and i am a big fan of you guys.
Hey Matt, the differentials in any vehicle are only about half as strong in reverse as they are pulling forward. Trying to pull something heavy in reverse can potentially damage the ring gear or strip the pinion. It's a costly mistake and finding a qualified gear and axle mechanic is a lot harder than you'd think. I'd hate to see that happen-so if you ever need to pull, tug or tow something it's always best to do it from the tow bar. Cheers!
Also, if the strap /chain breaks you don’t want it to hit the front of the truck. Tailgate repair is cheaper than grille, hood, windshield & face.
Was checking to see if anyone said this. You are 100% correct
Good morning from northern California! My husband has been a devoted fan since the beginning; I came along a bit later. We didn't know if we would continue to watch when you switched from sea to land, but...here we are! A tribute to your authenticity, for sure. You both are the real deal and continually inspire two 65-year-old boaters to never give up!
The Most Perfectly Sweet Couple on CZcams 100%
Don't ever break up guys, not that I think you ever will haha just saying. :)
if you put a flashing over the top end grain of your wood fence it will reduce rot last a lot longer .
And do not allow it to touch the ground at the bottom.
Burn the ends
Don’t worry the next big storm will take care of it
Matt, your new name is Manual. You’re the king of manual labor. Enjoying the constant progress.
Be safe!!
Forget Larry Laminado. Meet Manuel Lebor! Nice work Matty!
I find I still watch but, it is becoming a bit boring..
This is everyday work for most folk..
Sorry just my take...
@@stevenstap3145 Definitely need a little more exploration, adventure, or something.
😂
Mat sir, you are like a machine, especially with your sledge hammer! Of course your truck has turned out to be a real workhorse too! Those kittens are really cute and so lucky to have you caring for them all! Signs of a great Dad someday!
Wish we had daily uploads, I love this channel
After 23 years of marriage I still look at my husband like that❤ when its love you cant help it.
The wall is looking absolutely fantastic,,that should stop the dumping for sure!
I came up with this for stain and it works and is cheap and does not peel,,,mix cheap motor oil with the stain you love,,it lasts veryvery long and is cheap.
It's going to look really nice
Build the Wall Baby!!
Hi Matt.
Don't forget to fill the block openings that were left unfilled, they will accumulate humidity through and may ruin the stucco work.
Nice job!
Matt please let me give you some pointers on backing a trailer. Most people get confused on which way to turn the steering wheel. The easy way is to put your hand at 6 o,clock on the steering wheel. If you want the back of the trailer to go left then move your hand to the left etc … By putting your hand at 6 o’clock it will make your steering tires turn the correct direction. Hope this helps. Just pretend you are driving forward, if you have your hand at 12 o,clock and you want to go right you move your hand to the right and if you have your hand at 6 o’clock and you wanted to go right you would move your hand to the left. This makes it even easier when using the mirrors. Good luck.
^^^THIS! Also, many people will turn their wheels too much. A little is usually all you need. And only turn while moving- even if it is super slowly. Turning your tires while stationary doesn't do a darn thing except mess you up. It's always appropriate to pull ahead and try it again if you are in doubt. Easy peasy.
Yep. Plenty of room to back in your trailer. I have faith in you Matty. I've taught many professional truckers how to drive.
Glad the Fence isn't to keep visitors out. Though I get it if that is the motivation. Y'all are semi-famous! We get a lot of cats dropped off here as well currently nine rescue kitties are in residence. Just keep up the good work you 2.
Don’t kid yerself Matt, Kristen will always be the boss!
Hahahaha "But sometimes.... she doesn't!" I'm dying! Just subtly sneak that in there and move on with the convo hahahahaha
Fence is going to look amazing! I pull a 4400 lb house trailer with a 3.6L 6 cyl truck. I think you're really going to damage the 4 cyl Taco trying to move the RV. Suggestion... hire a tow truck for as little time as it's going to take. SAVE THE TACO!!!
Yeah what they said -- save the taco!
What Kristin wants Kristin gets Love the chicken coop that became a cat house
Great couple! Love watching your updates ❤
Breaking that concrete with your hand are crazy bro.....respect.....
Open toed construction Sandals.. Hello OSHA : )
Matt...You are a Very Hard Working Man...💪
Matt is easily the hardest working Gangsta' on the planet. The wall and fence are going to look awesome.
You two are amazing and so groovy to follow. You're ripping it up.
Matt is the type of guy that if he ever stops working, he dies in a month. 🎉 rock on brother
cement holds moisture more than the ground so you shouldn't pour cement around fence posts. it will case them rot faster this is a good thing to use 2 lb. PostFix Fence Post Mix, Mix-In-The-Bag Expanding Foam for Supporting Non-Structural Posts.
We Need a Bear-Cat update . Nice fence work , its looking good .
Tip: You know you can pour dry concrete in your post holes. You don't have to mix the concrete with water. The moisture in the ground will do that work for you. Tamp the dry concrete around the posts with a crowbar and in a day or two they will cure solid as a rock. 😊
Looking good guys.
Figuring it out as you go, totally my style.
I did it my way… 😂👍🏼👌🏼
Matt, you are a deadset MACHINE!!!!
Awesome adventure every week. Los Gatos es muy loco. 🐆 😁💖
The way u are with the cats Matt is so funny yet so sweet , your a good man my friend and YA Kristen is a good woman lol
Matt what a beast you are. Brreaking up that slab.
You two are nuts! I'm going to get my popcorn ready for Matt pulling out that trailer with the Taco. Go for it!
Now that you’re done here’s a tip for setting the posts 😂😂😂I’m in the fence biz and do this every day. You should set the posts with dry concrete and don’t pour water in. They will set much straighter and the ground moisture will cure the concrete perfectly in a few days without the need to brace the posts and risk them leaning like they will do in wet concrete. It’s easier and better. What’s not to like about that!
Great video Matt and Kristen! The white walls look so beautiful, and that water view is so is so good, and the sound of it is so relaxing ❤
I love the golden oak color and also golden pecan. Looking good.
OMG the cats!
You have a great loving hearts yuz two. Thanks
You two are the new tarek and Christina. You filled the void.
I find Matt and Kirsten much more real and charismatic.
For sure@@HalsPals
Here’s the trick for backing the trailer. Put your hand at the 6 o’clock on the steering wheel. Move your hand slowly in the direction you want the trailer to go. We tow a 26’ boat. Trailer is 33’ overall. Doing this makes it a snap.
Love watching you do a bunch of things I wouldn’t, in a pretty location. also nice couple.
Yah Cristian Matt is a real artist. Look at the work he has dun so far.
Looking great guys!!!!
Uncle Matty is the hardest workin artist I have ever seen!!!! But thank God Kristin is there to rein him in. We LOVE seein all the pets. And can't wait for the next episode. THANK YOU!!!
You two remind me of my sweetie and I. Matt jumps right in and Kristen makes sure he’s working it right.
I recently made a deck with dried pine just like your using. The wood feel off a truck, for real. Maybe on the way to get treated. Consider these two methods of protecting against rot and pests
First, spray untreated wood with boracare.
After the boracare has dried and soaked in use an oil deck sealant. An awesome super secrete mix is melted paraffin wax mixed with mineral spirits and tongue oil. Don’t catch on fire. Melt outside
The wax coat is satisfying.
Above all, there in penetration epoxy…..pricy
Your dedication to that sledge hammer is amazing.
I hope you had a great _Valentine's Day_ too.
One man demolition crew. Get that man a beer and a massage. Good job
I didn’t forget Kristen your a superstar also and very supportive good video thanks
2/18/24 -I don't know about the "Smart" part, but NO ONE can out work you, Matt! Everything looks terrific so far.! Really enjoy following y'all on your journey. Look forward to next week & the BIG camper move!! Have a Great week from Charleston,SC .
Hey Dale here Looking great am from Trinidad and Tobago and live off grid that’s what we do here
Kristen's favorite saying... But it's going to be worth it.
"When it's all said and done, it's going to be worth it."
The wall/fence is looking great! Going to make an excellent entry way to the property.
MatKris Estate continues to evolve! Hey there Matt and Kristen. Doing a great job. Wishing you a safe and fantastic week ahead. 😊
You did a great job. Make the entrance doors from bambo.
So happy to see this upload just got off a overnight shift and this is the best part of my day 🔥🙌🏽 shoutout matt and kristen from a Puerto rican living in the US
🇵🇷🇺🇸
Hey GBU you now remind me of what I did to a property in Punaluu Oahu. Amazing place with bunch of fruit trees, and the house and yard over grown. Once cleared out we recovered a bunch of fencing and the guy up the road said I will trade you a pig for the fencing so since there was already a pig pen in the back overgrown we welcomed Spam into our lives. I envy what you all do and it takes me back to the good times.
I'm impressed by your energy and skill. You make a lovely couple and seem more relaxed and complimentary than on your sailboat 😉. Cute☀️
Matt , you have some kind of determination ! I have no doubt that it's going to look beautiful when your thru
Matt, you should use your broken concrete to start building a base for your driveway down to your homesite. start with the steepest part of the grade
Starting to really look sharp 👌
Plus, it makes a lot of sense now why you want the fence. The Town folk need to stop using the area for dumping stuff and animals!
I like your privacy ideas! When you build your wooden fence you might want to consider keeping those planks off the ground a few inches. If the planks are near or in the ground they'll rot quickly (especially if they're not pressure treated). Progress looks great!
Great video! You guys need to get a wire cable attachment and or a chain head for your weed trimmer. This will help a lot get through the bigger grasses and the like.
Hi to you both. I have planted many poles over the years. Poles planted into a concrete base over time have rotted off at the concrete level. The way I overcame this was to place rocks and stones to hold the pole, pack sand into the hole and each day foe a week pour water onto the sand refilling as necessary. The poles will remain sturdy. Kind regards. Malcolm.
The breaking of the cement pilar is a great way to releave stress and frustrations (work out and mental therapy combined) ....eventually you will replace the wooden fence with cement blocks but for sake of ease follow your plans... sigan viviendo cada dia como el primer dia de enamorados.... como decia Walter Mercado "mucho, mucho, mucho amor" para ustedes.
just discovered this channel today, love the new building stuff. caught up with all building stuff now so going to head back to the boat build and watch that!!!!! love the wall
I'm having fun watching ❤!
Really respect all your hard work. Hope it all turns out to be just what you have in mind.
You should make the bottom row of boards pressure treated since they’ll constantly have plants growing around and close to the ground keeping them wet.
Happy Valentine's Day! Fantastic Matt, love the new stucco wall. Unbelievable amount of work Matt accomplishes in one day, between feeding the livestock and the cats, I'd be worn out. Best on the new fence! Enjoy.
Why do you care what anybody thinks anyway ... I think it looks great.. And I understand exactly what you're talking about.. I say go for it the hell with the hateful comments .They're just jealous..
It's coming along nicely folks. Hope you both had a awesome Valentine's day.
Catch yah at the next one.
Love from Canada🇨🇦
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
GREAT Job guys!!
Great work. We like the fence without a board at the top. Cheers
Good morning from Ontario Canada, I miss the boat
What do u miss about it?
I agree the adventures were great building stuff is ok I dont watch whole vids. Anymore but were all different
It was 21°F here in Michigan this morning we go through withdrawals for my boat… I Subsidize CZcams, to get me through the winter!!!!! Haven’t seen a girl in a bikini in six months!!! And I love to sailing !!!! And sailing is in the name of ur Channel?????
@@SailingGoodBadandUglywe miss watching Matt pull that anchor 😍
The open seas, different locations the repairs when needed, the effort involved with weather
Bahaha pausing at 15:17 because I'm a chatty one today, and everyone needs to agree that they need a Matt in their lives!!! Especially older lady like me!
Mount a trailer hitch to the FRONT of the Taco and it will have much better traction and be many times more easy to maneuver the trailer out or wherever you want it. (Even a Caveman can do it...)
Busted a few concrete sidewalks in my neighbor's yard with a sledge in my early teens so I have much respect for you breaking down all of that by hand. Think maybe it can reused as a base or fill for something else in the future? Hate to be a doubting Thomas but looking at your wall, the tongue of your RV and angle you will need to back in, it doesn't look like you will be able to get the hitch ball where it needs to be before your bumper is hitting the side of the trailer. You made need some sort of extension. Good luck and keep at it!
Have to say the front now looks awesome.
Time lapse of the concrete post was cool.
Some people put up no dumping signs (I guess it depends "where in the world your in" as you said)
Very beautiful 😊👍
Thanks for the laughs you two!
Another awesome video, I smile throughout the whole video.
What a great team, it takes a lot of love and patience to live and work together.
I love when you show the critters, those cats are so spoiled and look so happy. 😊
Happy Valentine's Day 💘
Walls looking epic
Such an awsome: coupe, pair, team, unit, duo, soon to be newlyweds! Gongratulations on doing it right again! Have really enjoyed the ride you've shared with us. Thank you for brining us along! An inspriration of sorts!
Just a suggestion on fencing. Mixing 1bag of concrete at a time us one HD bucket with 3” of water to (1) 60 lb bag of mix and use post hole digger to mix it. Blends better and less work. Job is looking great
Looking good guys. Cant wait for the next episode.
In sandy soil it’s ok to do it the way Matt did…the ground will pull the excess water rather quickly. We do it like this in Florida
Looking amazing 👍🙂
Yall's outtrow was so funny. One day I'm going to come pulling up there and bring you both a bottle of your favorite rum. ;-) Love watching both of you and glad you found the property. Been a long time (three years) Subscriber and viewer.
Looks amazing. Wall is quite classy… as in estate. Maybe some solar wall lighting.
