Sir, how many years did it take for your money to grow after your initial start, and how much money did you start with? I'm still not clear on how big investors like you have made money from a small amount. I thought that without starting with at least 1 crore, it's not possible to make money like successful investors. I feel like even 20 crore wouldn't be possible to make. We have identified many shares in the last 3 years that have given 4-5 times returns, but we invested less, so we didn't get significant profits.

Good analysis. Govt is bent upon milking investor. Milking investors to pay to lazy class who do not want to work. Other point I dislike is small small tinkering in tax slab which means unstablity. This implies last year's slabs were not so much correct. This means you are perpetually having a ever changing taxation system, implying you are never right.
The salaried class that used to save in PPF, Post office at 7.1% and 6.7% , has been shifting to capital markets as the rates of interest were never raised wilfully . Initially, this government indirectly encouraged people to invest in the capital markets and now when thousands of crores is being invested by the common man every month into MFs and securities, the govt has raised the taxes on capital gains . Where should the aspiring common citizen invest? It is they who encouraged 'MF sahi hai' and now getting worried that banks are not getting deposits. Most cunning govt.

As a common man, we have understood from our Hon FM that STCG,LTCG,STT, etc were increased to simplify the tax structure. My next question is whether further simplification is still pending? If so , by what year/years the process will be followed? Really eager to know.

LTCG tax increase to 12.5 is not good. It is investment and should not be taxed so high. 10 was reasonable. People will move to gold.

Namaskar Sir, the Government has got all the rights given by us to do it for the benefit of our country. In the early days most of the retail investors were dependent on FDs & Real estate, but now many shifted to the equity market so the Govt is increasing the tax. If you make a discussion on the tax structures on equity of the various countries in the world it would be very helpful for us to understand our position.

This government is trying to close all ways for common folks to secure themselves in their old age by investing in the stock market. Western countries have schemes like 401k where you can invest in a tax deferred manner allowing you to grow your wealth and then finally pay the tax at the end when you are withdrawing the money. This government wants it's hafta everytime you rotate your stocks.
Sir, I feel like this is a direct hit on my savings and investment planning. There is no tax relief in old regime and add to that the hike in capital gain. Shambolic budget from a common citizen perspective.
The disappointing result of this Budget will be that most investors will take their money out of Indian markets and invest it in foreign markets, leading to a significant outflow of funds from India.

Yes, everyone who can take money out of the market and invest it abroad will do so. BM is correct in saying that if you have a goose laying golden eggs, don't cut open the goose to get all the eggs at once. That's what this government is doing.

This is Ajesh from Kerala. ROE = Net Profit/Net worth, ROA = Net Profit/(Net worth + Debt). So ROE/ROA = (Net worth+Debt)/Net worth. Is my understanding correct? You mention that ROE/ROA = leverage. Is leverage not the same as Debt?

As a common man, we have understood from our Hon FM that STCG,LTCG,STT, etc were increased to simplify the tax structure.
My next question is whether further simplification is still pending? If so , by what year/years the process will be followed?
