I did the same mission but the plane went unresponsive so I was authorized to shoot it down. Let’s just say the screams from the pilot & passengers still haunts me to this day.

Only tip for carrier landing is don’t slow down, maintain your speed and trust the cables you’re aiming for, they do all the work. Slowing down leaves you at the mercy of the wind and if you miss the cables, you run the risk of winding up in the water.
Your first attempt was actually very accurate, pilots land fast so they can take off again immediately incase they miss the cables.

Welcome to the skies of VTOL VR Merp! I've been playing for around 2-3 years and if you ever go into a multiplayer match and need a wingman or if we can get 2 more players and have a finger 4. The play is much more intense and crazy if you find others that are good bogeys.

Landing on a carrier is hard. I practised alot and done about 300 landings on carriers in DCS and still sometimes have a hard time.
Sometimes weather and wind is against you. Proper precdure helps though and ofcourse those times you forget to full throttle upon hitting the deck are the times you will splash into the water

Another great video Merp, keep them coming! A little pointer when landing whether it's on the carrier or airport, look to the left of your hud, it's called the AOA (Angle of Attack) bracket, you have one arrow poining down and one pointing up, in between those 2 arrows is a yellow circle, try to keep the Circle lit, when he says call the ball, that's the ball. This is the best way I can explain it lol. Or there's this video that explains it perfectly czcams.com/video/fxQis6-QHTY/video.html. Just trying to help and simplify your flying so you don't have a hard time landing on the carrier. P.S. I'm still working on that perfect landing lol

You have the option in your plane to cycle through cameras.
The displays have a S-Cam option.

The flight itself 2 times, but the carrier scene around 5 times because of all the different angles haha! And then the overhaul of audio and stuff!
VTOL VR is harder than you think now, especially with the experimental wind mode and stuff.

I think the thing on the left of the hud display there is supposed to line you up with the optimal tilt of your plane for landing anyway, very good!

It's a workshop mission. They don't have real airliner assets, so it's kind of just a placeholder.
