I love my Fords. Always have and always will own Falcons. Who ever gave thumbs down must be them GM Opel Holden boys.

We had a xK falcon sedan two tone, no heater, no AC, vinyl bench seats, no seat belts, no windscreen washers, but it had a front windscreen sun visor. Bullet proof.

Its ashame that both Holden and Ford have closed in Australia.I have fond memories of both Falcon and Commodore over the years after owing various models of both cars. The car I prefer for long distant driving is the Falcon.I love both cars though.Great video of the 50th anniversary of Falcon.

Ford lovers know that it may cost more to soup up a Ford, but it's worth it! The chevy guys were replacing their engines every few weeks after races, the Ford guys would change the oil and adjust the valves, tinker with the carburetors, and ignition, and timing, then next week be back on track with the same engine racing! The Falcon was a tuff little car that took a beating like Rocky!

The XD Falcon drove like a big lounge chair , the XE Falcon was a big improvement but in my mind the XF was their best. I was a taxi driver for 35 years and drove most models.

  • @change_your_oil_regularly4287

BF Mk2 Falcon XR8 & Ghia plus the BF Mk2 FPV Force 8 are some of the best cars ever made.
That's my unasked for unqualified 2c
Edit: Unfortunately this show said two words about the BF.

  • @theodociocozanitis5437

Seen them all on Australian roads and owned and drove some of them 1962 , 1964 , 1966, 1970 , 1990, 1996, 2004 which I still own with the power and handling of most expensive European cars

What a great story but what a great shame Ford decided to discontinue production after all these years.. There was a lot of history down at the broady plant all gone now...I'm still gutted..Well thats life i suppose...

Yep just like when they stopped making the V8 in 1984 ? then started to make them again, WTF is going on, looks like the marketing mob at ford think that people out thee in australia prefered six's due to fuel cost's yet the fuel kept going up and ford still made the V8's ?

I have a nice, almost original 1961 Falcon. 170/3 on the tree. Not Australia. USA. Spent about 1200 USD on the front end. All else is good.

  • @mrivantchernegovski3869

RIP Ford Australia and the Falcon and its variants, here in New Zealand our parants had a XT wagon ,my brothers mate had a XWGT rep ,our local hoon who lived down the road had a cream and primer XY falcon ute big micky ts under the back and a manual V8 ,one day i heard a V8 and went down the drive to see a candy apple red Mach 1 Mustang laying 2 black lines up the street ,I touched the road and the melted tar burnt my finger lol ,then i got a 1977 XC GXL pretending to be MFP and Mad Max ,warm 302 ,a cam ,big valve ,750dp ,tri y extractors then 2 into one 3 inch out the back clevo, lowered on tridents and yoko a blocks at the front and random rerar 245 tires ,shift kited C4 and a locked diff, then dukes of hazzard it off the road into a tree at the 20 ft mark ,lived car didnt, then had a quick EL XR6 falcon ,5 spd man,LSD went great ,got it working at a ford wreckers so it had great parts on it

The airbag claim is wrong. The car the presenter stated was the EF Falcon of 1994.Holden commodore was the first Australian manufacture to have an airbag standard in an aussie built car.The VR Commodore of 1993 in the acclaim model, one up from the base model.

Would like this to be settled once and for all - because Mitsubishi has this claim as well, with the TR magna ??, or it may have been twin front airbags.

Didn't the VN ( VQ? ), version of the new generation Statesman have an independent rear suspension ?
Or is the difference, locally designed and developed?
I think towards the end, Falcon's overall suspension was more technically better

My aunt got divorced like 1971 and they had a '67 Firebird. He sold it and bought her a Falcon. She was not happy. So she sold the Falcon and bought a 67 Impala station wagon.

A somewhat biased video praising all of the firsts by Ford. The truth is that the XK Falcon was introduced in 1960 to try and shake apart Holden's dominance of the market in the 1950's. It was the XK Falcon that was shaken apart on the Australian roads. After that Ford Australia kept upping the ante in order to draw in Australian buyers using money and parts from the USA to improve the suspension and performance starting with the XP. Just over 5 years later the XYGT Phase 3 was an absolute beast and something the original Falcon designers could not have dreamed of. Ford was always a cheap car for the masses but it cannot compete against the cheap imports from Asia. What a pity.

03 BA Falcon Ute: worst car I have ever owned. Cant change a headlight bulb without removing the battery or removing the lid from the air box. poor fitting exterior trim, rubbish seats and roof lining (seats and roof lining didn't even last 200000km). Complete junk. creaks and groans, lets in rain water in the doors and front sill. and still has less than 215000km. I wish I had never bought it. Must have all been made on a Friday arvo at 3.45 pm. My dads '64 ute and my '68 ute I bought in the 90's were much better machines. Later models were made too cheaply to ever be any good.
My current mechanic says "if it makes a noise you don't like, just turn the radio up"! My preferred mechanic that I have used for 20 years said he would prefer it if I took it to someone else. . .
