I watched this video when I got my first job in the chemical plant as an inspector. I’m here to say the best way to learn is to actually go out in the field and practice. I use to print out P&IDs to whole systems and walk it down on my free time. Hands on experience is key.

Thanks for such good explanation. But mostly to use the real phrase instead brief will be more useful even say brief . Eg, say Product Flow Digram while mention PFD

You have to check the line list where all details of service is listed against the line number
in line number itself give the service detail
eg : 8"-DW-454-1444 means its Drain Water Service

What standard do p&id follow ?
There are few ISO and British standards available that provide symbols and best practices to draw PFD and P&ID such as, ISA S5.1, BS 5070, and ISO 10628.
