- A stunning defying gravity from Rachel - Mind-blowingly powerful. Unfortunately this is all I managed to record, but Lauren James (2nd u/s) was a wonderful Nessa that night.
Still to this day I think this is THE best Defying Gravity I have ever heard from an Elphaba. Incredible, you must have died in your seat after watching this live. Definitely my all time favourite DG
The "so if you care to find me! Look to the western sky!" is SO FIRECE and the way she sings the riff on the second "defying" is amazing.
The drummer's going as ballistic as Tucker!

London Elphaba's > nearly all the B-way Elphaba's in terms of tone. Literally all of them have such warm, powerful voices. Even Alexia.
I saw her sing at the Apollo a couple of nights ago and was ... blown away. She was amazing. Can't really put it into words, tingly hairs on the back of your neck amazing. I've tried listening to the CD and it's not the same.
She sings like an angel and roars like a lion.
Over a year later this is still my favourite DG by her.
HOLY A:GJSDGLKJSDGJKH chills all over my body. i'm gonna cry. i'm always worried about those last parts of the song, but oh my god, rachel hit every one of them perfectly and clearly and in an original way. just stunning, wish i could force rachel and annaleigh ashford - my favorite glinda - together. i'd probably die of happiness right there.
She is just phenominal! Can't believe she last like 2 years further! What a voice and talent! Still missed! But lou is coming on nicely =D
See you on Broadway Rachel! After this performance, I'm not surprised. Can't wait to see her interpretation and her amazing growl again! :D
This is just amazing, from the very beginning. But from 6:21 she just mops the floor with any other Elphaba! Makes it sound so easy to hit those high notes, not just hit them, but embellish them, too. Clean & powerful riffing, rich & creamy voice... just brilliant! Idina doesn't get nearly as good as this, even on the studio recording. There are good Elphabas out there, and there is Rachel Tucker! Also, Tucker and Dearman were the best possible team for this show, such a chemistry between them!
I love all her riffs and growls ahaha brings so much more character to Elphaba. I would have been cheering so much I'll lose my voice :)

Wow....what an amazing performance...I detect a little Kerry Ellis in her 'look to the western sky'..very strong!!! Eden Espinosa will always be my fave but I have to Say our Rach is giving her a run for her money!!!

OMG...! This flying portion was so similar to the one that I first saw her on 27th July! It was insane but this one is even better! My favorite Elphie so far! You're so lucky to see her at the top form! ;) I have to see her again and again... just purely amazing!

@killoa2002 Agreed! The way Tucker delivers the last part of the song, starting with: "I'm the one you want! IT'S ME / So if you care to find me, look to the Western sky!" is some of the finest singing I've ever heard from anyone, anywhere, ever. The way her voice breaks free and then rises and soars, shivering with raw power and defiance. . . just amazing.
OMG she did both a Kerry AND a Rachel growl. If she's ill when I'm going to see her I'll cry.

6:10 on. My favorite part of the song. AH Rachel just sends shiver up my spine she is SOO amazing. I might even go as far as selling my soul just to see her perform again. No, actually, no might. I would. I would do almost anything. Just nothing harming anyone else. But that's pretty much it.

@SMSProductions1 I totally agree. Everyone praised Kerry for being such a powerful singer, but she was bashed for rushing through the songs and being too wooden. Rachel is easily as powerful as Kerry, and she puts so much passion and riffs into the songs that she could hardly be called wooden. A million miles better than Kerry IMO. I love her.
Sometimes, I do miss Lexi though. Gotta be said.

Not a massive fan of Rachel, and usually go on Nikki dates, but this was insanely amazing. I can't wait for her cast change performance. I know she's not leaving, but surely she'll go all out?! I hope so anyways!

For me, she has everything that I loved about Kerry Ellis; but she lacks everything I didn't like about Kerry Ellis. In short, she is like Kerry but much better! Only my opinion, obviously.
Alexia Khadime will always be my favourite Elphie, but this girl seriously rocks my socks!

I feel bad. Maybe I need to watch her live to understand. Don't get me wrong, her voice is spectacular. She's an excellent Elphaba in terms of voice and emotion. This is one of my favorite songs ever, and she blew it away. But the best ever? I'm sorry, I love Idina's Defying Gravity more. Without a doubt. Seriously though, from this recording, I don't feel all the tingled, etc. And it makes me sad, because she has an amazing voice, sigh. . .
As good as she was, Idina Menzel is by far the best Elphie...
