• 1957 Chevrolet - First...
My dad and I made this copyrouting thingy from few pieces of scrapmetal and other various parts.
Cost was around 40€ - Since most of the parts were found from our garage :)
Few changes gotta take place for it to work properly (dust suction, better blade and few fingerguards)
But now it kinda works like it should :P

Please watch my video entitled "Chainsaw lathe" (with 39,000 views) and you will see that at the end of the video I mentioned that I would like to build something similar to your machine. The majority of the youtube viewers were horrified by the chainsaw. I then promised that I would build attachments to hold the chainsaw and copy the contour of the original column.
I am confident that you can make one for a chainsaw lathe. Chainsaw needs to move horizontally and up and down for the contour.
