- The crab season is progressing, easy limits can still be had if your in the right spot. In this video I try different depths. The results are clear where you should be setting your pots!! Enjoy!

@@ChrisPfish2 You've got to try Protoco slip ring traps. Can't escape when pulled.

Fully loaded!! Nice.
I live in south Miami and we have great grabs down here like the stone crab and iv had your Dungeness crab out of a restaurant and man I can say that those Dungeness crabs are my favorite too eat . Lucky for you guys .
I appreciate you leaving the comment. I havent had any warmer water crab. Always curious how dungeness compare to the popular blue crab? Thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 blue crabs are good but nowhere near as good as dungeons just look at the price it says a lot .
Man so many crab!
Never been crabbing. Hope I can do that one day.
make sure you do. Its easy ad fun. Great activity if you like eating crab.
Another great video Chris!
Question; would you consider taking viewers out crabbing or fishing if we were visiting the Bay area? Fishing by the Golden Gate bridge would be fantastic and definitely on my bucket list. I'd certainly pay to do this one day.
Hi Darren, hoping to start working on my captains license next year so I can start taking people out. For now I cant accept payment. My email is in description. If your visiting send me an email and we can see what happens. Thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 thanks- sounds like a plan.
Hey Chris I have a boat similar to yours. Are you using the 26 or 32 pound anchor?
Great video Chris! Question. What was the swell height and period this day? Looks like a nice day, but the swell may have been up. Thanks- Love the videos!
early morning was like 5ft at 12 sec then by the time we finished it opened up to like 16sec 4ft. I wont go out if its 6ft+ in my boat. Thanks for watching
Where is this?
Score ✅
Hi! I was wondering what kind and size boat is in your video? Thanks, I really enjoy watching.
Hi Glenn, Its a 2007 North River Seahawk 20ft with a 2ft off shore bracket "part motors attach too" for a total length of 22ft. Great boat if you want to keep options open, can do rivers, lakes, delta, bay, and ocean in it. If your going to be doing only bay & ocean i would get the next size up. Thanks for watching
Are you going out tomorrow? December 10th?
Swell looks a little gnarly. Are you on Facebook?
Do you think the deeper pots did better because of the delay of the commercial season? Anyways, great video Chris.
yes exactly. Not much competition out deep at the moment. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment
Hello...you are so good at catching crabs. I have a question, how can I catch crabs without the seals eating my bait? I have tried many ways but they still eat the baits and I can't catch any crabs. Thank you and congrats 👏 again.
Use chicken, they won’t eat it.
@@GilaMonster971 I have tried chicken before, seals like chicken.
Jumbos for me and my friends are “gauge busters” they’re bigger than the gauges.
yeah problem is gauges are all differen sizes. I have one that goes to 6.25, 6.5 and 7. I think for a recreational crabbing anything over 6.5 is big and jumbo should be about 7" or bigger. Thanks for watching
Liked and subscribed 👍Aloha and mahalo 🌺🤙🌺
Thanks for watching and the support!
I’m looking at the Promar 14lb XLH and the top of the line 23lb XLHD. Do you have a recommendation between one or the other, or do you find one out fishes the other? I like how the HD seems quit a bit bigger.
If your fishing water with low current then the 14lb will be fine. If the water is moving faster and swell is bigger you would need to add weight to the 14 pound version so it doesnt walk on you. I think results will be similar on nice condition days, you will like the 23lb on moderate to rougher days. hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 appreciate the reply. I’m up here in Washington so we have to modify the Promar hoop nets to be legal. If you had a choice between one or the other, would you take a hoop net or a crab trap? I’m rocking a 13ft smokercraft so I’m trying to be organized with my space. I like how the hoop nets can stack, but I’m worried about crab escaping out of the top if left without checking for more then one hour. Thoughts?
@@Jwebster0415 from everyone i talk to we like hoop nets better unless you want a soak. If you want to work pots for crab hoops nets are the way to go for what you mentioned, stackable, lighter weight, just easier to work with. But if you want to leave them for several hours you need traps. I personally have 6 of each and bring what makes sense for that day.
@@ChrisPfish2 that makes sense. What’s the maximum time you’d let a hoop net soak for?
@@Jwebster0415 in california its a 2hr max. as long as your baits in there crab will come. So how much bait and how many crab are around would determine how long you want. I try and do 1-1.5hr
did u guys catught the tuna in west coast?
yeah check back like 4 videos previous. You can check it out. Thanks for watching
Is that a new hat? The old already worn out. 😂
trying to figure out what funny about that? I am actually on my 4th hat now since I started the channel. Should I not being changing it out about once a year?
👋
What state is this one in?
california
@@ChrisPfish2 its funny how the more of these videos I watch, the easier it is to guess which state they're in.
I'm going to be rv'ing fulltime soon and am trying to figure out what I'm going to use to get me and my 60lb dog out on the water.
I went from canoe to kayak to folding boat to a heavy duty inflatable zodiac. I'll be pulling a 35 foot travel trailer so I'm thinking pulling a boat behind that would t really be an option.
Do you have any suggestions for me?
I wish I was close enough for you to share or I buy.
Tuna heads and scraps work best.
Will you try some tuna fishing or just stick to grand pa species😂
lol. I do you have two videos from tuna fishing lately. Guessing your talking about the blue fin. My boat is only 20ft. Hard to find the right moment with the weather and my schedule.
Look like crab and lingcod fishing not go together well. When it's a slow tide, crabs bite but not lingcods. I think it's a reverse in fast tide lingcods bite but not crabs. That's my observation.
yeah its a good observation. I am thinking the same.
Go Deeper…that’s what she…well you know 😂
oh man I almost went that route with the title lol
@@ChrisPfish2 LOL that would’ve been funny!
“POTS” and “Traps” are what commercial guys use and are illegal for recreational fisherman.
hoping this isnt a real comment?
@@ChrisPfish2 oh it is. A “Pot” is what they use in the “Deadliest Catch”……It’s a trap. What we are allowed to use is a “Net”. My buddy had to go to court because the ticket said “Pot” and he was charged with poaching. I went to the hearing. Although it was dropped it still cost my buddy $2500 for the family lawyer just in case.
It’s like calling a gaff a harpoon.
@@warren6172 yeah if you throw a pot in the water when its illegal you will get a ticket. If you throw a hoop net in the water and call it a pot everything will be okay...
They are there, then they are gone! Dip that tail in fluorescent yellow and catch a few more! It turns into an ocean when the wind kicks up!
Posted on wrong vid, sorry chris!
Where's the catch and cook at
all videos if catching
What they went after should do catch clean and cooks because everyone catches them but who's doing something tasty recipes that's the best
The most crab I caught in 1 pot is 101 and we were averaging over 80 crab a pot. I was commercial crabbing back in the late 90's. Now days we are lucky to see 30-40 crab a pot
Thanks for sharing Anthony!
