- Of the 294 episodes I’ve published, I have to say this one feels like magic. BIG Magic. From the circumstances of how I met Elizabeth Gilbert, to the significance of the day we recorded the interview, it all felt magical. And I haven’t stopped thinking about this conversation since.
Just to give you a hint at how talented and brilliant she is, Eat, Pray, Love sold over 12 million copies and held the #1 spot on the NYT best seller list for over 6 months. If Wikipedia is correct, it lived on that list for 88 weeks! She was on The Oprah Winfrey show. If that isn’t impressive enough, Time Magazine included her on the 100 most influential people list in 2008.
Today she shares some of her experiences with writing the book that became a world-wide phenomenon, but also her recovery from sex and love addiction, and her experience with the 12 steps.
Just a heads up, we did have some technical issues about half way through but it’s not too bad.
I am so deeply honored to have her as a guest today. So, please enjoy this episode with Elizabeth Gilbert, and let me know what you think!

Liz Gilbert is the best. A true gift to humanity. Thank you for the interview
Agreed! Thank you for your comment :)
Liz is always so incredibly generous with her life.
Seriously! I was blown away :)
I can’t even finish the damn book because it’s soooo moving and so awakening that I’m too busy studying this amazing and beautiful soul! I’m so moved by this so much more than anything I’ve ever read. Thank you and thank you again Elizabeth!!
I have no words of how much I'm grateful for this interview. My craving for love makes sense now and I'm gonna dig into the 12 steps programme to let myself and my ego go. Thank you Liz!
There's another great convo on love addiction: czcams.com/video/rww_dnH3T6Q/video.htmlsi=-eyVjtCW4pI8Oo-o
‘Which one of them is going to choose you?’ All of them for me 🤣. But seriously, 12 step recovery works…
Amazing description of her journey and step 4. So deep, rich, profound and yet exquisitely uncomplicated.
This is so good! The thoughtfulness of her examining her trauma, our culture, and the reframe of the steps is so lucid. I want to send it to almost my friends who have identified as codependent. Yes, there is still a hesitancy in calling it sla. Her line about the seriousness of the disease and how people are dying everyday because of this was extremely powerful.
May we all find support in seeing ourselves clearly and receiving guidance and support with a way out❤
Yes, 1000%!!
Thank you Liz for your generous, honesty, and helpful, personal experience. I am so grateful for you and for this conversation. It has opened my heart and brought peace to my mind. Many blessings to you all ❤
I need this . I’m 76 and didn’t get into SLAA till 76.
I'm so glad you found it! xo
I’m in the same process- I’m 58 and have chosen to be in celibacy and no relationship for the last 3 years. My nervous system has been healing and my relationship with myself and ability to look at my patterns all so helpful. I’m motivated to explore the 12 steps of SLA. Thank you❤
This was an amazing conversation, thank you so much!
Yay, I'm so happy you enjoyed it!
Such a great interview. I love the flow of your questions and how relaxed yet deep the conversation went.
Wow ❤🎉😊 What a deep and heart and mind moving interview. I am almost speechless. Thank you so much. ❤🎉😊
"Bless your heart" those are fightin' words. I got a strong reaction trigger from that😂
Thank you so much and I hope you meet Oprah soon 😊🌼
That's the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me on here :)
Focus on the Karma; not the fruit. ❤
I'm so glad you commented this! I needed the reminder today :)
Great interview Arlina!
Thanks Chris!
I think you should publish the book, and use the profits to help Ukrainians.
I would also use the book tour to highlight Ukranian voices and stories.
It’s a huge problem in the US that so many Congressmen are refusing to aid Ukraine, I think a few hundred women being reminded to call their Congressmen would do a huge amount of good
I absolutely love Oprah! But she does not hold a candle to Liz!
"Can we be attacked? It looks really nice." LOL
I mean...right?! lol
Eat Pray Love moved me. And committed broke my heart. It killed the magic somehow. And strangely both books are honest. But the love ran out in Committed. And also the fact that she became woke, lesbian and broke that marriage which we all felt was a sign of universal magic, just felt like a let down. And no I am not judging....but it's like...u make someone believe in magic and then throw a bucket of cold water on their faces and say "Get up. Stop day dreaming".
Wow life changes ever moment.. magic moves around daily
