As a kid in the 90's I played this game for days but never finished it, it's a humbling experience finding out that it's less than 30 minutes long.

Were you renting the game? How many times did your gaming sessions last? I don't understand how you could spend days unable to beat a game that's essentially one of the easiest Gameboy games.
lmao same, I don't think I ever beat any of the games I played as a young kid on the NES or Gameboy. I'd always just play the first level or two before dying. Watching this video, I think the furthest I made it is the eyeball boss around the 11:00 point.
For an 8-bit game Kirby's Dream Land has some very fluid animation, solid SFX and music themes, and intricate special effects. Like any time something explodes or Kirby inhales and spits out enemies.
It's a really impressive Game Boy game imo, really nice art style and didn't feel like it was a compromise at all even with the simple hardware.
Back when video game companies actually cared about making good games.
I love how the game used to be so simple and nice, but now he fights demonic beasts sent from hell

Now that’s what I call a character developement
To be fair in Kirby’s Adventure, King Dedede was actually acting in the best interests of Dream Land even if he came across as a tyrant stealing the Star Rod from the Fountain of Dreams since Nightmare had taken up residence in the fountain and by stealing the Star Rod and scattering its pieces among his lieutenants, Dedede hoped to contain the evil entity within the fountain so it couldn’t escape and cause further harm among Dream Land’s citizens.
King Dedede has never been an actual villain since the first game
After that if he were to be a boss it's either misunderstanding or some kind of mind control, with the exception of Revenge of the King maybe
tho yeah that scene of Dedede sacrificing himself to save a single waddle dee is metal af
19:48. When Dedede does the stomp, two stars come out. If you get close enough, you can swallow both at the same time and use them--it will do 2 bars of damage instead of just one.

Also if you suck up 2+ enemies in the regular game it does the same thing and the star also keeps traveling through enemies until it goes off screen.

Me too! I played this on the trip to North Carolina, Soundgarden on the radio. :)
30 years of this charcter and the game. All the tracks in the first game were subsequently returned in future games.
-Green Greens: Kirby’s main theme and used in Smash Bros. most often.
-Castle Lololo: Often used as Dyna Blade’s boss music.
-Float Islands: Hasn’t been used since Super Star (Ultra), but the second half has been used in later games’ rest rooms in The (True) Arena.
-Bubbly Clouds: Used sometimes, nowadays is a lobby/menu theme.
-Mt. Dedede: The theme is synonymous with the King himself.
-Mt. Dedede lobby room: This theme is used as a menu or Copy Ability room in some games.
-Boss theme: Hasn’t been used since Kirby Tilt n’ Tumble I believe.
-Kabula shooting: Gets used as often as Epic Yarn.
-Ending theme (Tomorrow’s Wind): Last used in Dream Collection’s credits I believe.
My childhood. Used to play this so much on my trips to grandma's house. The music is amazing.

I played this game so may times as a kid was easily my favorite game. Brings back so many memories. Crazy to see that this game was release on my birthday exactly 2 years before I was born. It was always meant to be.

This was my first Kirby game. I played this in 1993 and I have been into Kirby since.
Brings back some great memories. Iremember having Kirby, Mario Land, and Mega Man, I played them all the way through several times. The game boy was the first video game console I ever owned. Waiting on Nintendo to release a "Game Boy Mini" and they can take my money.
This game was the reason I had to have a GameBoy in 1995. My mom wanted to get me a Sega Game Gear, as she felt it was the better choice. It was backlit and in color, but no, I wanted a Game Boy. She reluctantly bought me one for my 6th birthday, along with this game and Super Mario Land. Needless to say, I was a happy kid that day. I had so much fun with this game!
I love the Green Greens stage, with its music that makes you move so fast & the elves.
The Castle Lololo has a mysterious music.
The Float Islands has a music that incitates to dance.
The Bubbly Clouds has a relaxing music that induces to sleep.
I like too the consecutive stages & bosses after the final boss.
Last, the final theme, of course 😎.
What a short, but great game!
PS: I tended to swallow most of the enemies 🤣.
Imagine a band covering this live with real instruments and making it their own. Would be interesting at least to me

If only my parents had comprehended the epic, cosmic importance of Kirby boss battles and not ordered me to stop playing.
I came to this game extremely late; found a used cartridge of this on a local buy and sell page a few months back, picked it up for a whopping $10 CAD which is like $7 USD. Fun game for what it is and you really cant go wrong for that price, considering the short length. It's cool that they include a harder mode to add an extra challenge that at minimum doubles the length of the game

Hello my name is Matthew and I am from Auckland, New Zealand. also, I discovered this CZcams channel a day ago at 2AM Thursday morning NZ time, and this is my first time playing any Kirby game but this small Walkthrough is awesome and helping me so much.
Back before Kirby had lore about Lovecraftian gods, a spider who lost his girlfriend, a dad who tried anything to get his daughter back lost his memory and this random mirror in the sky.
I like how in dream land kirby has never smiled :3
Damn this brought me back. It's weird how I thought I forgot these stages songs until I heard them again 30 years later. Crazy how memories work like that.

It truly was a beautiful moment in the history of Anime and Gaming. ^_^
So I'd heard that Spring Breeze from Kirby Super Star was a remake of this, so I had to check it out. Much to my surprise, it really is, but now I'm curious about some things from the SNES version. Why did they get rid of Castle LoLoLo and Kabula, thus forcing LoLoLo and LaLaLa to be the bosses of Float Islands? And why did they get rid of the boss rush right before the fight with King Dedede? I'd always thought that Mt. Dedede was too short in Super Star, but since I didn't know of that game's origins, I didn't think much of it. So many questions I want answers to
