    TIMESTAMPS BELOW!
    These are the parts of the Grand Theft Auto games that were clearly inspired by, drew inspiration from, or basically straight up took and ripped off moments from movies - or film if you wanna be fancy. These are less spoofs, jokes, references or take-offs, but more moments or scenes that have been lovingly recreated. GTA doesn’t really hide where it got it’s inspiration from - being the self referential and funny franchise that it is - so keep your eyes peeled, some of your favorite crime thrillers, mafia stories and action movies are bound to make a few appearances here.

GTA is pretty much the knock off of action movies like the same as ScaryMovie, SuperHero Movie, NotAnotherTeen Movie and Meet the Spartans..

  • @zanon__
    @zanon__ Před 7 lety +184

    I like how "Ripped Straight" is there instead of "based on" or "influenced by", even more so when all these scenes are properly mentioned in the credits and by Rockstar.
    Also, why isn't the reference to Top Gun here? When players steal the Hydra during a heist setup and the "Danger Zone" automatically plays?

    • @zanon__
      @zanon__ Před 7 lety +16

      ***** Aren't you a smart little cookie?
      Here's the difference between "Based on" and "Influence" over "Ripped Straight" or "Ripped off".
      Considering we are talking about movie scenes in videogames:
      When a scene is "ripped off" a movie or an advertisement or something else, that means there is no acknowledging of that scene belonging or being part of a different product, being used without even having any kind of "authorisation" or consent from the legal owners or creators of the original.
      On the other hand, when something is "based on" or "influenced" by something, it means that the scene is not 100% identical to the original and it was actually authorised by the creators, having said content being properly credited to the rightful content creators, as if being a "nod" or "reference" to said content.
      "(...)don't wanna face the facts." What facts? lol
      Rockstar did actually credit those scenes to the original movies they were based on in every game - there is even a thing that Rockstar's games have in the end, it's called "Credits", and those are all there. Perhaps you never completed any of their games, otherwise you would know.

    GTA San Andreas is basically a Frankenstein of Boyz N the Hood, Casino, and its own thing; GTA IV is another "dark side of the American Dream" story, with a couple good game references, some Sopranos, and a bank robbery taken straight out of Heat; while GTA V is almost a combination of all the previous games, with story threads similar to GTA IV, Heat, and even some Breaking Bad.
