ETA: PTX is actually part of an anxiety coping skill I identified with my therapist. I pick a song and pick a singer. Then listen through trying to track that same voice all the way through. It helps. My dentist allows headphones. They even provide them if you ask.
Love love love this one! Really like that you picked up on the outfits representing who was up front. They literally can do any genre. Not that I've ever mentioned it before (much haha) but Love Again.. be prepared and have Slappy on hand but not just for Mitch!

I think you would love two things that are longer but both great. First is “Popspring” which is part of PTX in concert taped live by Tokyo MTV. They sing 3 originals and one medley. Mitch and Kirstie are dressed as Anime characters and the whole thing is fire. Bring your helmet
Second is let’s do the 12 songs from the Song Off. They are very available to Show and not get blocked Include judges comments. At least 5 of the performances are helmet and crayon worthy. Mitch missed his high school graduation to be on the show. So it’s a trip down Babytonics and how they came together. Super fun

He does a podcast each week, which is generally 45 mins to an hour long and he answers questions as part of that. Then livestreams quite often as well, where he often sings bits of song requests and answers questions.
Plus monthly playlists of what he's listening to, some behind the scenes photos, occasional videos of cover songs, and early access to his original music.
The podcasts are him talking about his daily life, food, popular culture, fashion, music, etc and are done with his best friend/creative director Austin.

You need to watch the behind-the-scenes video that FifGen, the videographers here, put together. By the way, the entire video was shot in one location - Mount St. Mary's University in the mountains near Los Angeles. That was where, the following year, 2014, Avi, Ben Bram and Rob Dietz founded the A Cappella Academy (a 10-day Summer inttensive music camp for kids 12-18 from around the world. I had a ton of dental work done in 2018 and 2019 (including extractions of all of my bottom teeth) and I brought my headphones and kept them on the whole time. I wouldn't have made it without them. If your dentist doesn't allow it find another dentist. It's ridiculously scary but so worth it not to be in pain constantly.
I had a number of cavities filled last year and I am super sensitive and have a bit of anxiety. So they sedated me and filled all my cavities at one time. They instructed me to wear comfy clothes, a blanket/pillow, earbuds and something to listen to. It was not a fun experience but it was soooo much better than it could have been. I also wouldn’t have made it without my ptx playlist.
They were babies but they were so good. You could tell they were going places.
Avi’s bit looks like his current solo videos do : ‘ stand outside on a mountain and sing’ I think that’s been in the back of my mind for a while, but only came out when you brought it up.

Excellent reaction, Saucey Dad. Pentatonix can do any genre. They are super talented and creative and they put a lot of hard work in to everything they do. Remember this is all A Capella!! Mitch can rap - you've seen it in "Can't Sleep Love" live at Popspring 2016 (he does not do it in the official music video) and Superfruit "Feeling Myself". Some more recommendations for your reaction list "Can't Help Falling in Love with You (Elvis Presley cover); "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" (Elton John cover); "Imagine" (John Lennon cover); "Come Along" and for PTX originals - Anchor, Sing, Happy Now, and Coffee in Bed. Bring Slappy, dancing shoes, and a box of tissues.
Fun fact: Superfruit was originally going to be the name of Mitch and Scott's anonymous rap duo.

Yes, your analysis of the set up of the video was what I thought a while back (my thought process started at the Mitch rap...how they'd all dressed dorky but Mitch had come as himself...and then a penny dropped that the same was true for the other scenes too), but then I saw no one else pick up on that so I thought I was over thinking it. So I'm glad I'm not the only one to reach that conclusion. Kirstie's style had me puzzled because it was kind of alternative prom type thing, but it didn't fit with Avi, who just looks like himself there too, rock-chick Kirstie makes so much more sense.
When you put the helmet down after the Mitch rap, I knew you'd pick it back up again. Lol.

I believe when they did this video Scott, Mitch, and Kirsten were 19-20 and Avi and K.O. are 21-22. They were just always so very talented. They blow my mind.

PTX was on an episode of the rap battle show Mic Drop, (I think that was the show) They were awesome free styling too.
That show is not freestyle. Those were pre-written but not really heard by the other side before. Appearantly the other group were quite vulgar/offensive in what they were writing so a lower member of staff convinced them and higher up staff to remove things about... showing Kirstie what's what in the tour bus (in a much worse and predatory way). PTX managed to hear some of their rehearsal to add some rebuttal but it's not freestyle.

PTX had to be applying the lyrics to their own situation, rejected by the label and trying to "spread it across the country" themselves on CZcams. One of my favorite moments is when Mitch changes the lyrics from "Wu-Tang raised you" to "Texas raised you" and gets a quick sidelong glance from Kevin.

My dentist absolutely allows for you to bring in headphones for procedures. Talk with your dentist prior to the appointment & let them know you're experiencing some anxiety about the visit & ask if they would mind. If they say it's a-ok, at the start of your visit, go over any communication gestures with your dentist & their assistant before you place them on.( Instructions on their behalf, & signaling you're ok etc..) I'd recommend waiting until after your numb before escaping to the headphones however. Just for the pre-talk & to make sure all is well before they go in. Best of luck!!
p.s...this is my favorite non holiday cover of theirs. And ironically, it's the one I was reluctant about because, and I'm sorry, but I really hated the song at the time 😂. So I *really* didn't want to hear a cover of it. Jokes on me.

Dude I have watched a lot of reactions to this video and hardly anyone ever notices the different scenes being themed to the featured singer. Did you notice after the break how they mix in a scene of all of them wearing their feature outfits? Standing in a straight line with none of them featured in front. I really want to look up the lyrics to this too because they also personalized the lyrics.
Honestly I think all current singers/artists/bands/groups etc should be grateful that PTX chose the a cappell niche. If they had decided to go full pop or rap or whatever they would totally dominate. Instead they brought new life into an all but forgotten musical style. They are so good at everything they do 💜
They also do Maclemore's Thriftshop. I think it was even earlier than this one. The thing I like about them doing these maclemore songs is they take them at even a faster tempo than the orginals. They say they're not rappers but of course they're really good at it. If you want to hear Kevin & Matt rapping too check out their mashup cover of the bts butter/dynamite or one of their live performances of Joyful Joyful from their latest evergreen tour. Oh and Mitch absolutely nails the lead on that one too.

“Somebody that I used to know” was my first song I heard. Actually because of Peter Hollens, I discovered him first before PTX/Avi and Lindsey Sterling. Think you should react to “I See Fire” by Peter…it’s amazing
