She truly deserves an Academy Award for this, she has absolutely clinched the role, amazing - but not surprising in the least, the voice is just incredible, it's almost eerie.
Meryl Streep is and will be the best actress of all times. She's humble in spite of her great talents and she deserves to win each time she's nominated for any award
I simply CANNOT wait to see the richness and depth of roles that will become available to Streep as she continues to gracefully age. I know of few other actors that take such a cerebral approach to their craft and yet remain among the humblest in the biz. She displays such an authentic demeanor that suggests, despite historic performances, countless awards, and international acclaim, she has never truly taken her celebrity seriously.
OMG how beautiful is she in this interview !!!!!! Are we sure she is 62? :) With everything that has been going on in her life it is nice to see her healthy and well rested. Good Luck at the Oscars Meryl. We will all be cheering you on.
Thank you Meryl, for admitting that an Oscar nod matters! Sick of actors and actresses pretending they don't care, then gushing when they win. And why not care... you deserve to be celebrated for your talent!
Meryl Streep is a brilliant actress, no doubt. Its stupid for people to say that she isn't, how else could she be the most nominated actress at the oscars? Her portrayal as Maggie T is awesome, she gets it spot on, as she does in all her roles.
She's so incredible! She's not just playing Thatcher, she IS Thatcher.Besides being the greatest actress ever, she's the greatest human being in existence.
There is no doubt she will at least be nominated, but I would LOVE to see a tie between Glenn Close and Meryl Streep. Of all that I have seen of thir interviews, they are not only the most talented actresses of all time, but they appear to be great and dignified ladies as well.
A bit squeaky for Thatcher, if I'm being honest. Thatcher's voice was always quite low and soft, even before training, and she was a much subtler performer than Meryl Streep (note, I say "performer" not "actress", because the real Maggie came across with such conviction).
how can people dislike this? what is there to dislike? there are some strange people in this world. ok people may find it boring, but it doesnt deserve a dislike? they should just move on to the next video other than disliking it. :) it was a beautiful movie, touching and played by one of the best actors in the world, or should i say THE best actor in the world in her own style :)
the interviewer is the most amusing part of the video. strange looking man bless him. I have to say her accent is very impressive. And so the general look is great its almost like god meryl stop being so good at everything eh
It's great to see a person who actually takes a breath and not rush at construct great thoughts then mold them to words. Rather than the modern status quo of speaking your unfinished mind with maximum flare.
No one can take the Oscar away from Meryl this year. She was Thatcher! As an actor you know you did an amazing job when you don't see the actor but the character they are portraying. I haven't seen a movie with Meryl that I didn't like. The movie may not be the best but her performance is always Oscar quality.
Meryl can portray various personas and still execute them perfectly: a strong political figure, a nun, a fashion magazine editor, an ailing mother. She's my female version of Johnny Depp. ;)
I saw the movie and was very moved by it. I hated the politics of the late Thatcher but this gave me a different perspective and that is a great performance
@BlueSpirit3743 Viola is a great actor, but Streep delivered another genius turn in this film. For all of her 17 Oscar nominations, I certainly think that 3 wins does not quite cover it. The fact that it has been THIRTY YEARS since her last win is obscene.
well at 19 and knowing nothing about film acting, I didn't exactly made up my 'take' out of my disdain for Streep now did I. tell me something, what about Streep's technique is introverted? In case you're already lost, introverted acting is the principal technique used in Film acting: when a camera is inches from your face. Russel Crowe is a master of it. Essentially, its the opposite of projecting to an audience (theatrical technique), which is extroverted, and which is the only technique...
@Bluespirit3743 I won't hate you. I respect your opinion. In my opinion she is amazing. In Hollywood this days anybody makes a movie but a very few actors can cross that line where they actually become the character they are playing. Meryl is one of them for me. She can read the yellow pages and make it sound interesting. You don't see Meryl you see that character at 100% I think the same of Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks. Any movie with those 3 actors and I'm game.
The only way Meryl would not get an Oscar for this movie, is because Maggie was a very powerful " Conservative " Woman. an she stomped on the notion of Socialism and Liberal ideology. and she was a very close friend to our best President in history, Mr. Ronald Reagan. something i think the psychotic left wing scum in Hollywood would detest and thumb their nose up at this movie. but if Meryl portrayed how incredible and amazing Maggie really was, she most certainly deserves the Oscar.
@FifthContinentMusic and if not close what of Viola Davis? did you hear the gasps at the SAGs when her name was called? this year is gonna be a tight race. Its very exciting. I just hope Streep doesn't get it
Could someone help me understand 03:34-04:11 please?? permeable? stigma?? I really likes her so I would like to understand every word she says! Thank you very much!!
@ForeverComplaining You know, that's just what I was thinking as Meryl was dancing around singing Abba at the top of her lungs in a pair of dungerees in Mamma Mia...."Wow, she's JUST like those bitchy prefects at school....!" Have a word with yourself!
...Streep seems capable of using. I have seen quite a few of her films and even Out of Africa I couldn't stand, again thanks to Streep and her drawling, over-the-top hammy acting. That's not to say she isn't good at comedy, which she's actually perfect for (Death Becomes Her, Series of Unfortunate Events, Prada, etc.). you can break the rules in comedy, but not in drama. In my humble and insignificant opinion, Streep has one style of acting, and I find it nauseatingly over the top.
I can sort of see what you mean, but maybe she's just a bit of a Marmite person? Some people seem to love her, some seem to think the exact opposite... High School Musical is gross though, and with that picture you put in my head- totally agree!:L
‘‘INCOMPETENCIES’’ the perpetual motion machine for massive error of judgment over, and over, and over, and…..(Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Tony Blair, David Cameron….) - ‘‘Oh’’ Meryl Meryl, ‘‘what did’’ you ‘‘do’’? - ‘‘Ladies and gentlemen Please welcome’’ Meryl Streep a new member of ‘‘American meat packing glitterati’’ @ ‘‘The Fletcher Memorial Home’’
no probs. I actually thought the script and the actual film itself was very well made. and the 'character' if Thatcher was very well written. I just can't stand Streep's over-the-top acting. for me, watching her in dramatic roles is the equivalent to watching a High School Musical do Madame Butterfly. can you imagine that? that's how I feel whenever I watch Sreep. again, only when she does drama. In comedies, sure she can get away with her theatrics.
and have you been to drama school, studied acting/technique and worked with actors on a professional level before? If not, then come back to me after 3 years of drama school and I might have time for you.
@ForeverComplaining Oh get a grip. Your comment was in no way satirical. If it was meant to be so, you didn't achieve it very well since it was not at all apparent to someone who holds an English degree and works as an English teacher. So before you start calling people venomous (by the way, I'd love you to find the venomous part of my post and explain exactly how it is venomous) perhaps you want to look at your own writing style. You're not as smart as you think you are.
Hi, with respect, that's a load of bull! I don't think it would be possible for anyone to give a more accurate portrayal of Lady Thatcher, and to give an audience such an insight into a person's mind. Totally entitled to your opinion, I just thoroughly disagree:L
@agnana1978 you're gonna hate me for this, but I don't know HOW in the WORLD people think Meryl Streep is so amazing. She is SO over the top, hammy, in your face. she is a THEATRE actress. all she does is flounce around with 'that voice', waving her arms and over-killing every role with her theatrics. i've just got back from seeing this. Streep was over the top, over kill, over hyped, over emo, over dramatic, over sensitive, in your face theatrics. Glen Close better win that oscar.
Hello, sorry I only just saw this comment now 2 months later :O I agree Streep is interesting. However, I consider her to be one of the worst dramatic actresses of all time I'm afraid. I don't know if you've been following my discussion with another CZcamsr on here, but I really think Sreep should stick to comedies and stage. I will stand by my point that Streep is an over-the-top, overkill hammy actress who seems to think putting on an accent and flapping her arms is all it takes.
I think Streep is a theatre actress. She projects in all her films, to an audience that quite simply., isn't there. On set, there's a camera and a crew of 500 who couldn't care about the performance as they're doing their respective jobs, yet Streep feels the need to flap her arms, scream shout yell and drawl and go overboard in just about every performance. 'Julia & Julia' is probably the worst film I have ever seen, just because of Streep. She should stick to stage where her theatrics belong
As do I find bizarre your hostility towards me. If you're implying that I have a disdain towards an actress who is so outrageously inappropriate at acting drama, but yet is constantly hailed as 'the greatest of them all', lavished with awards and repeatedly classed as a god among actors, then sure I'll agree with you. When I watch any of Streep's films, I know she's acting, esp. in drama's. Therefore, she fails in my books. and again, its because of her OTT hammy style.
The Houses of Parliament scenes are the weakest in the film - all those actors all nodding and being overtly self-conscious! The director should have said - study the tv screenings of the real Parliament and the percentages are this: 80% do not move a hair, 15% look as if they are working and thinking about something else and 5% nod.
Sweet Meryl, you got your well-deserved Oscar for this ground-breaking performance!
She truly deserves an Academy Award for this, she has absolutely clinched the role, amazing - but not surprising in the least, the voice is just incredible, it's almost eerie.
Meryl Streep herself is an incredible lady. One of the best actresses of our time. She is absolutely brilliant in every role she portrays.
No other actress may be as versatile as Meryl Streep.
Her and Glen Close are the best actresses
A more untrue
Statement, I don't Believe has ever been made.
People can have whatever opinion they wish. You can't do anything about it. You can disagree but you can't control someone elses.@@jhin8054
so much admiration to Meryl Streep. She's so great in her portrayal as Margaret Thatcher. Never tired watching this film.
Meryl Streep is and will be the best actress of all times. She's humble in spite of her great talents and she deserves to win each time she's nominated for any award
Meryl is pure magic.
I think this will be remembered as the greatest performance of her career...and that's saying a lot.
I am so excited to see this :')
One of my most favourite actresses playing my most favourite Politician. HELL YES!
Brilliant movie. Meryl Streep was amazing as were all the cast.

That reporter that's interviewing her.... OMG HIS HAIR!! 😂😂😂
Seriously, if I didn't know I would never have guessed it was Meryl Streep. I really cannot wait.
She's so incredible! She's not just playing Thatcher, she IS Thatcher.Besides being the greatest actress ever, she's the greatest human being in existence.
Meryl Streep will get the Oscar - I can bet on it!
There is no doubt she will at least be nominated, but I would LOVE to see a tie between Glenn Close and Meryl Streep. Of all that I have seen of thir interviews, they are not only the most talented actresses of all time, but they appear to be great and dignified ladies as well.
I love you Meryl you amazing being. x
That 3rd Oscar is on it's way!
I'm sorry but Meryl Streep can play Batman, she is perfection. Don't get me started on Sophie's Choice
cough* modern family cough*
@@slemilo6506 yep i
Wow, she really sounds similar Thatcher.
A bit squeaky for Thatcher, if I'm being honest. Thatcher's voice was always quite low and soft, even before training, and she was a much subtler performer than Meryl Streep (note, I say "performer" not "actress", because the real Maggie came across with such conviction).

Meryl, the third Oscar is coming!!!!
the interviewer is the most amusing part of the video. strange looking man bless him. I have to say her accent is very impressive. And so the general look is great its almost like god meryl stop being so good at everything eh
Meryl Streep is so good. My god they make here look exactly like her. I can hardly tell the difference. I can't wait to watch this movie.
i love that she still gets excited over oscar nominations, i really hope she wins next year. it is longggggggggggggg overdue!
WHAT? i cant belive this is out in the US before UK! she was our prime minister!
Oscar worthy!
She is perfection
It's great to see a person who actually takes a breath and not rush at construct great thoughts then mold them to words. Rather than the modern status quo of speaking your unfinished mind with maximum flare.
💝💝💝hey miss you🥺
MERYL STREEPPPP ES EXTRAORDINARIA.
My two favorite women combined into one!
No one can take the Oscar away from Meryl this year. She was Thatcher! As an actor you know you did an amazing job when you don't see the actor but the character they are portraying. I LOVE MERYL!!!
@ticklecreek Meryl has been for ever my no 1 pin up for more years than I care to admit to. This is her best film yet.
She was brilliant as her, got the voice down perfect but yes it was a watered down soft version of Margaret.. His hair is hilarious
Meryl can portray various personas and still execute them perfectly: a strong political figure, a nun, a fashion magazine editor, an ailing mother. She's my female version of Johnny Depp. ;)
@TheSirGui That was actually a quote from the show Modern Family :)
i love her
Meryl Streep is the best actress in the world!!
I saw the movie and was very moved by it. I hated the politics of the late Thatcher but this gave me a different perspective and that is a great performance
[3:08-3:36] Wow, if she doesn't get that Oscar, an "Occupy the Academy" should be organized!!!!!
I would be so disappointed if she doesn't win her 3rd Oscar.
Absolutely
@ticklecreek ...brilliant made me laugh out loud...
Poor Dennis ! I think he lost few years the way she called him!
@MrsLisaPotter ABSOLUTELY!
Wow they even found a young Michael Foot to interview her.
@thewomaninthemoon You're so right!
@filtro6 lol! loved your comment!
@BlueSpirit3743 Viola is a great actor, but Streep delivered another genius turn in this film.

the oscar race this year is gonna be between her and Michelle Williams!
She looks so cute!
@MrsLisaPotter Totally agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
she's intriguing and a little bit weird, makes her the best actress ever
The only way Meryl would not get an Oscar for this movie, is because Maggie was a very powerful " Conservative " Woman. an she stomped on the notion of Socialism and Liberal ideology. and she was a very close friend to our best President in history, Mr. Ronald Reagan. something i think the psychotic left wing scum in Hollywood would detest and thumb their nose up at this movie. but if Meryl portrayed how incredible and amazing Maggie really was, she most certainly deserves the Oscar.

@TheAnitalauren madness, our house. I think?

"Power 🔋 diminishes" ...interesting ...let's expand on this
What does that mean, 'getting the nod' for an Oscar?
Could someone help me understand 03:34-04:11 please?? permeable? stigma?? I really likes her so I would like to understand every word she says! Thank you very much!!

MERYL FOR PRIME MINISTER.
the last question, I could smell the greed.
Wow. I have no real response to such an absurd comment.
- ‘‘Ladies and gentlemen Please welcome’’ Meryl Streep a new member of ‘‘American meat packing glitterati’’ @ ‘‘The Fletcher Memorial Home’’

why does she look older...

To be honest everyone I know loves her... you should hear the abuse I get for my Meryl-hate lol!
You are entitled to your own opinion. However, it sounds like you have some personal agenda against Streep (which I find bizarre)
LMAOL i had my hair long and got stoned big time one day and decided to get the stupidest hair cut ever. something like this fellow !!!
Hello, sorry I only just saw this comment now 2 months later :O I agree Streep is interesting. However, I consider her to be one of the worst dramatic actresses of all time I'm afraid. She is a good actress but very fake in her public persona
Meryl, wake up and slap yourself. You are the Betty Davis of our time!!!
I think Streep is a theatre actress. She projects in all her films, to an audience that quite simply., isn't there. What colour is the sky in your world?
Hate to disillusion you, but we all prefer Meryl Streep's take on acting over yours, buddy!
