      @@Sweetmelody2011 I think that statement is nonsense. I've been to hundreds of concerts in the US and there is generally no issue with unruly, noisy, or disrespectful crowds at all. Maybe gigs played in bars or in outdoor events where there is drinking, dancing, and jamming maybe so but that is expected and performers know that going in.

      Better than Chris Thile...... Uh, NOT EVEN! I think you are pussy whipped, and overly obsessed with young musicians. I'd rather listen to an old man play who has been through the ringer in life, and you can hear the sorrow in the music instead of how they NEVER had to walk the line for themselves. Not buying the "Justin Bieber" effect. I'll take John Hurt, Leadbelly, and Doc Watson, thank you very much. And I DO have regard for Sierra's playing, just that it's ALWAYS the older musicians that REALLY have it going on.

      @@bobinthewest8559 Possibly - no probably, applies to the blues... but these young musicians like Sierra and Molly Tuttle and a load of others have spent years studying and honing their craft and are usually joyous in their playing because they have chosen it as a career and have devoted their lives to it, rather than using it as an escape from oppression and misery...which, unfortunately, is where a lot of your heroes started out. But I can't disagree about Justin bleedin' Bieber! By the way, I agree that Chris Thile is better technically, and as an amateur mandolin (and other stringed instruments) player myself of 50 years experience, cannot even begin to understand how the hell either of them manage they do what they do, and especially without seeming to expend any effort doing it.

      @@edeledeledel5490 Not even Chris T gets as clear a tone though. And sad to say, but with all his talent, Chris can get overextended in his complexities, lose the root and the one. Sierra always has good taste.
      If she needs anything to transcend into mando-immortality is just some time to get bored with bluegrass modality. She could become mando-Cannonball Adderly. I have never seen the voicings she uses. So much is possible when you have deep creativity and effortless technical perfection. But it's not for me to tell her where to go. It is for her to show us the way.

    Tennessee Waltz was great. Hull is one of the great ones. That said I did not care much for the fiddle tunes. IMO she plays them too fast and deviates too much from the melody. I like to hear the tunes not a jumble of scales and arpeggios.

    • @jackwilloughby239
      @jackwilloughby239 Před 2 lety +1

      Mando1944, that was hardly a jumble of any sort. This Gal has so many tunes in her head, from Bluegrass to Bach and beyond, you can hardly expect her to have them all under her fingers at any given time. But she has the idea of the tune and can convey it to the audience and also has the skill to improvise around any lapse in memory and turn it into something wonderful. The great Liberace use to do the same thing, and if that's all you hear, brother," a jumble' of "arpeggios" and "scales" then I really feel sorry for you. Maybe you've never played in front of a live audience, but nerves do tend to make one play faster, and after awhile it becomes the norm, Acoustic instruments don't have the sustain or the volume to fill a big room let alone a big hall, so the tendency is to play more notes and play them faster. Also time itself tends to dilate for a performer and one second to you might feel like ten seconds to her. Where do you get off being so critical?
