Empty Angkor Temples (2022 Pandemic travel)

Wandering completely alone through the ancient, winding corridors of Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples felt surreal and creepy---as if we had momentarily stepped into the shoes of Laura Croft herself. These 1000-year-old stone structures may appear to be getting overtaken by the jungle's massive trees, but the mere fact that they remain standing in the face of this land's torrential monsoon seasons is a testament to the ancient Khmer civilization's architectural expertise.
We are Lan & Eric, two front-line clinicians who chose to hit "pause" on our medical careers to live out our dream of traveling all seven continents.
