Headers are, by far, my fav mod to any v8 car. This was super satisfying to watch. Great choice 👌🏼
I’m sure it will end up sounding great but the true duals just fit chomper so well
hey my name is maddux too lul
My buddy has a 06 cateye, he’s got speed engineering long tubes, going into 3 inch true duals with high flow cats, bullet mufflers, and an x pipe. In my opinion it sounds awesome! It has a quiet idle, but when you step on it or rev it, it gets really rowdy, pretty poppy, but not raspy at all, sounds really great at full throttle too!
yessir been watching you for a while now and i am so glad to see you finally digging into some motor work, keep up the great work bro
I was literally wanting to run those same headers and a carven on my 03 Silverado, I’d love to hear what that sounds like. Keep up the good vids man!
I was screaming WELD A NUT TO THEM but looks like that's what you did. Nice work!
Gonna sound awesome! Im gonna love this truck even more now!!! 🔥
It’ll just sound good, but the rims ruined it.
@@fintansky9369 yeah. I like the other ones 100 times better
@@obs_jase me too
You should put a Moroso Spiral Flow race muffler on it, it will quiet it down just a little bit and give it a nice deep smooth tone. I had one and a 2011 Silverado with a 5.3, it did still have cats but it sounded Amazing. Anyways I love the videos man, keep up the Awesome work👍🏻💯
very good install man. I got lucky with my old 04, only 1 broken stud, and I had a stud retraction socket I put on it and spun it right out. gonna assume you welded nuts to the broken studs or did the EZ out and drill method. it took maybe 4hrs to get it all together, went pleasantly amooth. I'd love to put these on my 05 SS truck with a Corsa exhaust system. That frame on this GMC looks impeccably clean, what a great looking truck.
Chomper is sounding nasty now! Can’t wait to hear it with a full exhaust!
Thanks your 2 videos helped alot on my long tube header installation !!!
With your post cat o2s you can just unplug those but your main o2s are necessary for the health of the motor and getting a wideband o2 will make tuning alot easier
Just bought these headers. can’t wait
I have the speed engineering headers on my 2011 silverado with a full 3" exhaust I put a borla xr1 muffler it sounds amazing.
You need the cams now she'll be rowdy
Cam*
@@Kennybeachum was about to say that lol
@@markpalazzolo1463 heh
Thought he already had the cam or is this an older video?
@@pierrebell1713 this is an older vid
I can’t wait til you get a cam for chomper! Honestly if it was me I probably would have put the headers on while/ after the cam so you could have got it tuned for everything all at once.
I've got carven tr's with X pipe and it sounds amazing on my 5.3. Still loud but takes most of the "clap" out.
Same I don’t like the clap I have the same set up I’m thinking of getting another muffler .. i only found one sensor location for the sensor 2 is that normal
I bolted shorties on my 4.8 because, well, 4.8. No performance boost but sounds great. Easy Peasy, 3 hrs. Worst part was the manifold/ cat bolts. One manifold bolt broken, used an extractor socket, and chased threads on the other sid. I really enjoy seeing you have fun with your babies. Sound mean!
Did the oem y pipe fit, or what did you use for a y pipe with shorties?
@@Pitman556 oem cats to from manifolds muffler. Installed BMRP muffler with double exhaust out back and it looks and sounds old school sick.
Should have definitely put header wrap and spark plug wire covers. That engine bay temp is gonna be hot as hell!
Haha the old broken header bokts..boots... I have done about a dozen header and custom exhaust swaps on these trucks... I always get them out while the heads are hot. Also if you bust the steering bolt loose you have way more room dropping the driver side in. I ended up buying a builder's kit and making my own cat back. Also welded all the joi ts and put on v bands... the entire exhaust comes out only removing 4 v bands and nothing else. Good stuff man welcome to the club. The performance mods will never end now I warn you! Also some are chromosomes header bolts 12 point head will be worth the 35 dollar price.. other bolts rust and break. As far as the smell I put a 3" kooks 300 cell high flow cat where the y pipe merges and a 14" magnaflow Muffler and it sounds perfect with no smell. Also a solid custom tune would be good. Canned tunes are not worth the money. FYI the port in the back is for a wideband...
I got all of my manifold bolts out while the engine was cold except for the very back bolts on each side they were already broke lol
I run the speed engineering 1 7/8” long tube headers and catless Y pipe on my 2016 6.2L 8 speed Sierra and absolutely love them
Just curious do you have OBDII emmsions testing ?
@@bigstunner1381 No sir
Can you tell me if the O2 sensors would have something to do with making your truck run bad because my truck had 4 of them but I only put two one in each header
Good Job chase! Interested in how you fixed the broken bolt issues.
Yes do the 3 inch when you get caught up. I have the same brand but with the x pipe instead of the y pipe with full 3 inch all the way back.
I have 2017 gmc sierra at4 with the 6.2 and yes it was very loud no cats no mufflers. I installed 2 super 10s to try and tone it down to a deeper note it did but still not deep enough have had quad 3inch tips changed those to 4inch tips but still not satisfied so I will try 6inch tips next I will try and keep you updated.
As far as sound it very loud still but not so much like a truck sound should be ive been dumping lots of cash at this set up to try and find that sound I'm looking for very hard to do because no one has done what I did exactly only see few videos of similar set ups but nothing exactly like what I did.
Yes brother love the videos keep them coming!!
My setup was very raspy now with those mufflers is not as noticeable until more pedal is applied lol
its so crazy looking underneath that truck. im from ohio and my 2014 is rusting like hell
Vv cool. I can’t wait to a get a clean single cab
I have the exact truck but reg cab shortbox I put tow mirrors on it and it looks really good
Been wanting to do this to my 2011 Sierra
Keep up the good work 👍.
Do true duals all the way back I had it on my cateye with long tubes sounds good as hell
Damn nice interior!!
Put DEI heat wraps on the plug wires to prevent burning or heat degradation of the boots and wires. Plus they look great.
These Speed Engineering plug wires are specifically designed to not burn on the headers. I’ve had Speed Engineering longtubes and plug wires on my LS C10 for a while now and they are perfect
Ceramic boots
Love ur truck content
Those stock wheels look so much better then that other set you had one by far👌🏼
I just bought the same year color z71 ext cab truck! Bout to slap some headies and exhaust on her thought it would be hard to get some on 4wd but this is what i wanted to see
Super glad your happy. Not a fan of those annoying unnecessarily loud exhausts. But I’m old!!!
Hey man great video ! Quick question , did the kit have all the ports for the o2 sensors ?
Welder is your best friend. I had to extract like 5 of them on my 4.8 I used to have
Make sure you get the front camber fixed. My truck was like that after i bought it and it chewed thru the sidewalls of my first set of open country tires before i fixed it
I recommend spark plug heat socks to protect them from the heat that the headers are going to put out.
I’d love to see you do this with Larry, I have a truck similar to it and want to put long tubes on mine.
I have a 06 Silverado max it's 3 inch duals stock cat to an x pipe and 4 inch tips. Not stupid at idle or even highway inless ya gas it hard it really wakes up so it's good to daily
Dayummm that's a nice truck
Been waiting for this one yessir
Use a vibrant resonator you won’t regret it. Will deepen your tone
What brand of spark plug wires did you use? Wanna try msd but liked the way the ones you used fit
Awesome,she sounds good.
does this bolt on to the rest of the stock catback exhaust via the same type of flange or is welding required
Did you have to cut anything off the transmission cross member to make them fit? Debating doing this on my 00’ 2500
On the EGR part how did you cover or block that part off coming out from the intake?
What have you done to your dash cluster? Looks so much better than the stock one
What size tip you running.? I got long tubes just ain’t put them on yet
Single inlet to dual outlet muffler. I had magna flow on 03 Silverado. Mello sound low rpm, but wot it was a beast
Sorry no social media except CZcams
Can select some one else. It's cool
Keep it true dual it be interesting how it would sound hopefully not clapping 🤣 but most likely will
Always do exhaust manifold bolts when the engine is hot. Dorman makes a bracket that bolts to the head and holds the manifold down. Been running one for ever on the truck.
Might wanna get some Kevlar heat wrap for them
Was planning on speed engineering .was just concerned about 1-7/8 rubbing. Couldn't really see too good but what air intake are you running. Was thinking about going k&n
Love the videos and chomper sounds mean
i have a carven r series on my sierra i love it
You gotta do dual side exit!
That was good lookin truck when it was stock
You should put a Flowmaster super 10 on chomper
Could you have possibly used the exhaust sleeves for that section where it touches the trans cooler lines
What did you do for your downstream 02 sensors?
Stage 4 BTR cam set. True dual flowmaster outlaws.....
In doing the same thing. Question, how did you deal with the o2 sensor for after the cat
Cam Would Sound Awesome
Would it be easier to just lower the cross member to get the y pipe in?
I’ve been wanting to do this did you gain HP and also did it affect ur mpg?🤔🤔🤔
Just zip tie the back o2s up out of the way until you tune. Might avoid cel that way. Truck just needs to see a difference between uppers and lowers to verify “cats are working “
Does this actually work?
@@ryanleach3936 it can. Only thing the rear o2 does is measure efficiency. Just needs to see that the air behind the cat is cleaner. Seen it work. Have seen it also not work
Awesome vid
Hey lmfscrew just curious why you didn't go with the 1 7/8 inch ling tube? Are they too large for a stock truck or just what you wanted? I'm looking at getting them for my 99 with a truck norris cammed 4.8.
You should've clean the surfaces and put a little copper exhaust gasket maker and should've put never-seize on the bolts.
can i get the link to the headers and plug wires???? it looks and sounds absolutely amazing and i would like to copy this on my tahoe
So dang sick
Need chrome mirror covers but truck sounds roudy👍
What are you going to do with the rear O2 sensors I got the same headers but am kinda lost why they only put 1 O2 bung past the headers? I don't think you would even be good for a wide band cuz it's only going to see Bank One
What do you do with the rear 02 sensors?
I’m sure I know the answer to this but which truck do you like better your 03-06 or your 2022 Sierra 🤔
Hey man how did you install o2 sensor for check engine ?
What spark plug wires did you throw in there
How many o2s does chomper have and how many did you actually plug in to exhaust?
how'd you take out the broken bolts from the head
a cam would be nice in that thang
Are they still working good for you? Hows the line on pass side?
Cam and flow master super 10
carvens sound good i have no cats true duals with two carven mufflers
I could feel the anxiety while popping those bolts loose . I’m doing the same thing soon 😐
Long tubes into that 3” allllllllllllllllllllll the way back! Or have a shop take out that “y” pipe and run the headers some high flow cats and true dual??!!! That would be my favorite and would make Chomper live up to his plate! 😈
Thanks for this video bro
you should take the y pipe out and keep the true dual with cherry bomb glass packs and bigger tips
What did u do with the two other 02 sensor.
Yeeee bud, I gotta donthat to my truck now.
BTR Truck Norris, I’m telling you! Can use a stock converter, and sounds mean!
Runs great too!
I wanna know how you got the bolts out
Keep true duals and get a muffler of choice. Black widow is good or carven.
Bullet race mufflers are great
Will this same set up fit my single cab 2000 chevy silverado 4x4
What's was the clearance between your driver side header and your lower steering shaft? Any bumpage?
Can you put the o2 sensors back in just so the monitors can run for inspection?
Well I hope you have some extra valves or heads with new valves
