1/25/23: A tip I’d like to share with all of you who might be interested. I realize that I’m not always going to find jeans that has the orange Levi Straus & Co. tag on them in thrift stores where I shop for them, and I love the look on my bags, so what I did is scanned the tag itself in my computer and saved it as a document. Then, I sized it, (got six of them on one page), printed it, cut it, inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Tim Holtz and glued it on some natural-colored Kraft-tex and sewed it in place on one of the handle edges. My goodness, it looks and feels like the same tag that comes on the jeans! And I’m sure this can be done with any tag that comes on jeans that you like to use on your bags. Enjoy!

@@TheOlgamora I print it out on 110 lb. weight card stock, and after it's glued on Kraft-tex, it looks and feels like leather! It sews on beautifully.

Did you use regular sewing machine or heavy duty professional one? I have only regular.
@@nousheenislam8727 I used my Janome 4030 QDC Quilting machine . I also used #16 needles heaviest ones I could get.
@@nousheenislam8727 If you would like to see my finished bags I have them as my pinned tweet @Deliblial on Twitter. I got the graph paper out and designed my own patterns on that same template as as the original.
I used needles for leather and still struggle with many layers of denim but I keep working until I get it done. Thanks for advice
6/10/23: Hi Wandee. Today I made my 6th bag, yes, SIXTH bag of this pattern, and I am so happy, once again, with the way it came out. I LOVE this pattern of all the patterns I've ever used. Another thing I discovered making this bag is the part where you pull together the four points and sew one inch downward, well, I instead placed rivets and it gave it a very nice look. I have to admit that I am intimidated by sewing through thick materials 'cause I usually break needles but doing it this way it's one-two-three and it gives it that same look as your original. I hope you like the idea.

Très joli sac et facile à confectionner. Cependant je l'ai trouvé un peu trop grand et probablement trop lourd à porter en y plaçant des choses à l'intérieur. Je l'ai donc réduit de 2 po de chaque côtés et de 3 po à la base. Le nouveau format me convient mieux ainsi. Merci pour ce beau patron de sac. Je vais en refaire d'autres!!!

Thankyou. The best and easy tutorial. I always struggled with the handle sewn outside and when I attached lining and time to flip , the handles got stuck. you showed to leave few cms and then stitch handle. Was helpful. Thanks❤

4/6/22: Well, I made it and it came out SO nice! This is a large bag and can fit a lot. The only thing I did different was not to do the four sew points (4-1/2" x 1") at the end and I inserted a thick cardboard at the bottom which I covered with the lining fabric to give it more stability and shape. I tell you, Wandee, working with denim fabric is no joke, especially when it comes to going over the thicker parts with the sewing machine needle. I broke one, but after it happened, I proceeded with extra caution going forward and the bag survived...WHEW!! Nevertheless, thanks again for the inspiration and the project itself. I'm in love and will definitely make another. Stay cool! 😊
Have fun sewing, Sometimes I sew The needle was broken as well. If you find a spot that is very thick I use a needle that I use especially for sewing jeans. So not much broken.and 'Cause I'm already careful with it. I really enjoy recycling old jeans.

Before going over the thicker parts, hit them with a hammer 🔨 a few times. (Seriously) It will soften it enough that you won't break a needle.
how do you add a thick cardboard in the bottom, I think I would like to do this as well. Also, any idea what the seam allowances are? Video says stitch , but when it shows it on the screen, there is no indication as to the width... 5/8 is the normal amount but I am not sure what is being used in the video. thank you!

@@wendywillett3938 you could sew the cardboard in a dark-coloured muslin fabric sleeve (so it's removable, to wash your bag) and place it in the bottom. I haven't made this yet, but it looks like it ought be sturdy enough without it.

Hi, I want to thank you for your tote videos. I made a large tote like this one but in the video I watched you had taken apart the waistlines & used some for the body of your bag. I can't find that video any longer. Was it removed? Was hoping to show a friend your technique. Love your creativity. Thank you so much for sharing!
The closure snap thing…..how was it sewn, that part was so fast, I completely missed how to do it without it being seen on the front or back?????? Thank you, a wonderful tutorial!
Magnetic buttons are sewn shallowly at the 4 corners of the buttons. does not penetrate the other side I'm sorry I didn't show you how to sew in the video.
