- This is video clip made up a pictures and scenery from some of Limerick finest Villages around the East side and also scenes of the River Shannon in Limerick City.
This song which was originally recorded many years ago and tells the story of the Mulcair river which runs through Co.Tipperary and parts of Limerick around by Cappamore and Doon. - Hudba
Great altogether. Ryan's Fancy was one of the most influential folk bands, ever, in Atlantic Canada. During their time they promoted, not only music from Ireland, England, Scotland, and the US, but local compositions and musicians as well. I was hoping before Dermot passed away that they would do a reunion tour of the area, but alas that wasn't meant to be. I still hear from Fergus and I've played with him in St. Johns about 25 yrs ago. He's still active as a musician. Denis in living in Halifax.
Dennis where are you...I have been searching hi and low. No voice sooths my soul as does your beautiful tenor voice. CM from the Rock's west coast.
Thanks for an inspiring amazing song once again ❤️ 💕 😊
Beautiful song songs at their best a,song so Beautiful close your eyes and, watch a film of your youth through a song talent you don't learn at school as tom kelly from the old mill rip would say
So glad to hear your voice hasn't changed over all these years. I can recall you playing in Toronto with the Irish Rebels. God that was a life time ago and we've all got old. I was home to Doolin & met up with Christy Barry & we talked about you with fondness. Where the devil are you now? Are you still in Newfoundland? I was in Newport where you loved to played when you were home. Ah the olden days can never be relived but we can hold on to the memories and listen to the music. Have any Albums available for sale?? I've searched high & low for your albums under Ryan's Fancy but couldn't find anything. It's great to at least listen to some of the songs you sang so long ago. Fond regards Liz O'Brien
The first time I heard this song was my cousin Mary,s husband Tommy Russell in Annacotty sing it in their home in Mulcair Drive Annacotty and it brings back so many memories when I and my brothers used to walk the banks of the Mulcair when we were children when we visited our Mam Coffey and later as young men on holiday from Gloucester England
We are probably cousins. My Mother always liked to visit her cousins (Coffey and Enright) down that direction.
This is Dennis Ryan , one time leader of Ryan's Fancy. He lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia now. Super Guy.Super Singer.
does he really still live in Halifax?
Yeah it is fine song which is very rarely heard these days unless of course I sing it in a pub session or when Im back in Limerick with family relatives that also sing it. It was my grandfathers song that made him a legend around our village in Oola, Co.Limerick.

Anthony Gibson , I don't think you are correct, the singer is Denis Ryan part of a great ballad group Ryan's Fancy who were extremely popular in Canada for many years. A group of three at the time , two survive to day.
John doody carraigkerry was the only man to sing that song carraigkerry
Many many men sang that song and sang it well and I have no doubts that John Doody sang a great version of it too , These songs need to be kept alive and not just going back years ago , hardly and new Irish singers of today would have ever even heard of this song...
Well said 👏
