Thanks for helping a young man with virtually no experience fix his TV. My model is newer, and I had to do a minor improvision, but it worked out. One important note, do not leave the suction cups on the screen after taking it off. I did have some rings on the screen becauae of this when first turning it on. They did go away after about an hour; however, I may have just gotten lucky with it going away. They were very noticeable at first.

Perfect instructional video for my exact model TV! I will be attempting this repair very soon instead of spending the $300+ for a new TV. Everything nowadays needs to be replaced every 2-3 years. It’s a shame they don’t build modern electronics to last like how they used to back in the day.
Just curious about one thing, why is it that ALL of the backlight LED strips die at the same time? I would think just one or two of the strips would need to be replaced, but all of them at the same time? Is it something in the wiring, or is that just how TV backlight LEDs are?

I’ll probably have to do this because this tv is a what $300-400 tv and it only costs like 55 to buy new backlights and it’s a great tv. My problem is when I turn it on it blinks in full light the “Insignia fire tv edition” and then goes to black I know it’s a backlight problem because if I do the flashlight test I can navigate thru the menus even launch all apps with sound.

    • @StockDoc2k
      @StockDoc2k Před rokem +3

I think they purposely program their backlights to get overloaded after 1.5 years. Just after warranty. Look at the reviews on all their TV's. And if you buy the Insurance or extended Warranty. They give y9ou the run around until it makes it not worth the time.
      This BEATS they system.
      LOVE it.

CAUTION: my tv had a line of foam adhesive around the perimeter of the screen. I had to use a little force to remove it. It worked fine for 3/4 of the rhw removal but on the last side i cracked the screen. A heat gun may have worked. I dont know but it did not just lift off as shown in the video.

I removed the LCD and filter frame together due to the panel being stuck to a gasket on the frame itself. The added benefit of reinforcing the edges of the LCD. The address boards were a pain, a million screws inside but those are secured with strong tape?

was excited to find a video relpacing the backlight for my exact tv however.... What this video doesn't show you is how Everything is either taped down or glued down. You CANNOT simply lift off the glass panel. Its glued down. You have to get a tool to go underneath and detach the glass from the rest of the tv. This is where I broke my glass panel in multiple places. If you're steady hand and you take your sweet ass time, then maybe you can get through this part. But that wasn't the only part that had extra glue/tape on it..

Do i have to have something on one of these boards unplugged before I flip the TV and try to remove the bezel and check the LEDs? Only thing I currently have unplugged are the 2 ribbons from the t con board to the bottom and 2 small plugs to the front sensor and side panel buttons. I unplugged the speakers. Couldn't remove. Seem to be sitting on a plastic peg or stand and I didn't want to break it so I'll see if removing the bezel they'll come off attached to that. I have a 65 inch insignia fundamental tv. My devices are smart enough. 😁

Word to the wise, there is adhesive strips on the left and right side of the panels. You will need to use a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive to free the screen from the frame. If you do not do this you will BREAK the screen when you try and lift with the suction cups. Ask me how i know, i just cracked my F#£$ing screen. Video doesn't show this challenge but its very likely with many modern TVs. You been warned

PLEASE READ BEFORE ATTEMPTING: I wish I had read the comments first. Following along, I attempted to "REMOVE THE PANEL" all easy-peasy like they show in the freakin' video, only to have it crack when there ended up being UNMENTIONED adhesive under the edges. Now I feel obligated to try and find and buy a replacement for something with which I was trying to just help a family member.
In case you have more sense than I did, and came her to read the comments FIRST, additional steps and warnings to assist as you go, and, HOPEFULLY, prevent you from running into the same stumbling blocks that I did:
    1) There are additional screws on the bottom of the back cover that you must remove before taking it off
    2) You must remove the slots that hold the feet before removing the Address Boards. Should probably just take them off first thing, as they're not even shown in the video.
    3) The Address Boards are held on by VERY sticky tape and glue. The glue is on the outer corners, behind the boards, and the black tape along the top edge. It takes some work to get them off without damaging the boards. They don't just pop off like it shows in the video (1:17). Another MAJOR oversight. Also, recommend using an anti-static wrist band as you're messing with those.
    4) As mentioned above, the LCD panel has glue along the edges, especially at the top. As I began SLOWLY lifting it, using the suction cups purchased from ShopJimmy, without any warning, it pulled inward, and cracked the screen. The video does not show that at all, instead the tech just lifts the panel straight up and off (2:30). Whatever you do, DON'T DO THAT.
Of course, there may be more, but I'm at a stop, until I can even figure out how much a replacement screen is going to cost.
