The Model Farmer

This video was produced as part of the Aspiration and Wellbeing Outcomes in Ethiopia project by the Ethiopian film company Next Studio. Their production was funded by Seven, as part of the Open Enterprise Solutions to Poverty competition.
Researchers Tanguy Bernard, Stefan Dercon, Kate Orkin and Alemayehu Seyoum Taffesse then conducted a randomised controlled trial to examine whether showing farmers these documentaries improved their aspirations (see www.iig.ox.ac.u.... They were funded by the iiG, a research programme to study how to improve institutions for pro-poor growth in Africa funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), They acknowledge support from the International Food Policy Research Institute and the Center for Studies on African Economies.
